James, come on... I thought you wanted to show me something.

With her wand, she directed the remaining bacon on her own plate and dropped another slice of bread into the pan, then cracked an egg into the hole in the middle. She managed the tea by hand, however, pouring hot water into the two mugs that stood on the counter. “All night?” Lily repeated, as she handed him his tea. “You poor thing. Did you at least get anything out of it?”

She returned to the stove long enough to magic the last piece of toast and egg onto her plate and then took the seat next to Sirius, one hand resting on the curve of her stomach.

"Do we ever?" He muttered, perhaps a little too bitterly. But he sighed, scratching the back of his head. "All night raid, of just watching and following and nothing happened at all. I don’t think I’ve ever been more bored in my entire life to be honest. Marlene wasn’t in the best of moods either, so we were both just shitty and cold all night." 

Sirius watched her as she made her own food as he sipped his tea. It was nice after such a terrible night. When Lily took her seat, he took a piece of bacon, munching it down like a starved animal.

She sat and watched for a minute as he began eating. Her pregnancy had made it rather difficult--not to mention dangerous--for her to help the Order in any hands-on way, but at least she could still do the little things. Things like healing Order members when they came back injured, or even just cooking them breakfast. Sirius, of course, was a special case; he was welcome in the Potters' kitchen any time.

Lily took a bite of her toast and egg and chewed it slowly. "It's been so difficult to get reliable intelligence these days--I heard Moody talking to Dumbledore about it after the last meeting. I wish..." She sighed and shrugged, taking a sip of her tea. "Well, it is what it is. How's Marlene? Any reason she was in a bad mood?"

Me: At least it'll be cozy because of the water heater.

Mom: And we keep extra salt in there.

Me: Oh, right! So I'll be able to fight off ghosts and demons and things.

Mom: I was thinking it would give you something to play with. But you'll also have the silverware in there for vampires and werewolves and things.

Stepdad: See, we take good care of you.
