Well thank you. I think we should all take one. Do something fun, like a party or something.
That sounds like a great plan. Or maybe play a game of chess -- though I'm one of the only few who feels that's relaxing and fun. But a party! That would be fun -- maybe.
Dear Petunia,
Well, Petunia. Here goes another attempt at communication.
I know you don't want to hear about my school shenanigans, not one bit, but I'm going to write to you about some of them, at least.
You know I'm Head Girl, now, right? It's amazing. Well, maybe that may have been an over-exaggeration, but it's pretty great. Well -- for the most part but I'm not gonna get into that. Not right now.
...How's married life? Is it everything you hoped for? That's sort of an awkward question coming from your little sister of all people to be asking, but I'd still like to know! I mean, I'll probably end up getting married one day. Hopefully not to anyone like Vernon.
I told my friends about how fantastic the cake w--
Mum's been acting weird lately (at least before I left). So has da, I think they secretly miss you.
I may secretly miss you.

Why is Arithmancy even a class? When will I ever use this stuff?
You know you could've dropped it, right? It's not even required, Sirius. It's an elective.
Let me know when that happens, Flower. I’ll owe you so much. I’m okay though, really. I’m used to this, remember?
You won't owe me anything, Moons. You're tough, I know. I don't care if you're bloody used to it. Slaves were used to slavery and it didn't make it any better now, did it?
And yet every day you seem bent on forgetting that fact. But oh, the Head Girl is speaking? What is a lowly peasant like me to do?
You know me, Red, I’m a slow learner. — If you jump on my bed I’m not going to let you out of it until you go back to sleep either. Everyone knows I always pick the most comfortable one.
A lowly peasant like you is very much obliged to listen to me.
Ah, hush, You're not that slow. Hmm -- [ Lily weighs her options knowing full well that Doe definitely had the strength to keep her in bed if she really did want to. Plus, Lily was exhausted. She never was one to sleep much but, at this point in time, she felt like she could've slept forever. But still, she loved classes. ]
.... I'll take my chances.
[ And then she ran towards Doe bed and hopped on top of it. She jumped for a few moments before she lost her balance and fell off of the bed, face first onto the floor. ] Fuck. [ She groaned. Lily slowly scrambled to get up from the floor and took a few deep breaths before forcing herself up. ]
Marlene laughed a little. That was one of the many good things about Lily; her ability to keep her humor. At least, with Marlene she kept her humor anyway. She couldn’t really speak for anyone else. The war was getting stronger every day and Marlene tried not to worry about her family, she knew they were all skilled fighters. There would always be that small part of her, though, that wondered if they would always come home when they said they would. One day she expected they wouldn’t, and that was the consequence the war that was her biggest fear. “Anyway,” She said, jumping up and beginning to pace in anticipation. “Are you up for a little trouble? I’m bored. What’d’ya say, Head Girl, want to break some rules with me?”
The fact of the matter was, Marlene would break rules with or without her there and Lily knew that Marlene sometimes got into some actual trouble that Lily definitely wished she didn't. At least if Marlene got into trouble now, Lily could be there, so she let out a sigh. A sigh that if it could be transposed into words would read: You got me this time, McKinnon.
"It depends which rules we're breaking, otherwise I'll just have to be the boring chaperone I always am. But trouble, I think I'm a bit more open to that."
Please tell me you’re joking.
Fine, fine, it's not my finest hour slipping a plant pun into our conversation, Peter but -- plant puns and jokes are funny. So, yes, I was joking.
Is it just me or is it getting cold already?
One of these days I'm going to succeed in making you a potion that actually helps you when you feel this way.
I am so ready for a break from work now.
Then I think you should take a much-ly deserved small one.
It’s my sacred day for sleeping. Are you honestly ruining my sacred day for sleeping?
You seem to say that every day, Doe. Now get up! As Head Girl, I command you to. And as you know, my word is law.
-- And yes, I'm honestly ruining it. Don't you know I'm the patron saint of ruining fun and all things related to Dorcas' Meadowes sleep schedule! Merlin, you should know these things by now. I'll jump on your bed, I will.
{James couldn’t quite help the little smirk which began to curl his lips upwards on one side when she squeezed her eyes shut- but a moment later, he found himself emitting a yelp as his hand disappeared underneath the table to rub at his shin, and he scowled at her, huffing.}
That was hardly necessary Evans- and do you have bricks for feet or what?
{He raised an eyebrow as she politely re-phrased what she’d already asked of him- she’d never willingly been polite to him before, even though she was lovely to everyone else, so it came as quite a surprise. But he found himself nodding. Plus, she did have a point- it’d be completely humiliating if a couple of peas got the better of him and managed to take him down.}
Alright, fine- I wouldn’t want that to be what killed me off. How embarrassing would that be? So I suppose I could give it a go, but only because you asked so nicely.
Yes, with all the f a w n i n g you've done over me throughout the years -- I'm surprised you didn't notice my brick like feet, Potter.
[ Lily quipped, but in a more bored than annoyed tone than she had had before. Kicking him in the shin really did help with her stress towards him as eveidenced by all the times she had done it before. The yelp he made almost made her laugh, as seen by the rebellious right corner of her upturned lip. Yes, in the past he had made her laugh -- much to her annoyance -- and Lily had tried to hide it. And yes, she usually didn't take pleasure or humor in causing other people pain. But that yelp, it was absolutely humorous. ]
Well how about that. If I asked nicely more often, would it get you to do more things? Or was that a sort ... once in a lifetime thing?
[ Now, there was a slight smile on Lily's face, and she looked down, praying her ginger hair was useful in covering it. ]
I could see it now, what Rita would write: THE ONE AND ONLY JAMES POTTER TAKEN DOWN BY PEAS. Then, right under: NO DOUBT A PLOY BY LILY EVANS. Maybe more...dramatic than that.
Chocolat ϟ Lily & Remus
As much as out Lily didn't like to proclaim favorites-- she couldn't deny that people's favoritism of her was something that she had used to her advantage more than once. The prime example was none other than Horace Slughorn -- though Lily was a brilliant and talented witch, part of that was knowing how to play to your gains when by definition she was supposed to be worthless -- to some.
M u d b l o o d .
Or so they would tell her. Unlike the other students in his class, some who made fun of him, Lily never did. Lily simply tried to get to know him, and found herself actually liking him to accompany her talent in Potions. Soon enough, Lily found herself in the ranks of the Slug Club. An oppurtunity she loved having because she deserved it as well as being able to use it as validation that she was in fact good enough. At least, validation to the blood supremacists who hissed mudblood under their breath every corner she'd walk around.
Favoritism, in her eyes, was something that couldn't be avoided. There would always be that one person who's company you valued more than the rest. So, it would come as no surprised that Lily herself did have a few favorites. Out of all her friends, Remus Lupin was definitely her favorite, and she wasn't ashamed of that fact. Of course she loved all her friends very very much, but when it came to the curious case of Remus John Lupin, he would always and forever be her favorite person to be around.
If it hadn't been for Remus, there's part of Lily that feels like she would have given up on the whole species that was the 'teenage boy'. But the irony was -- he didn't see it himself how fantastic he truly was. In between all the prefectorial duties they shared, late night study sessions, chocolate binges, all he saw himself as was a monster. All Lily saw was nothing but.
What Lily saw a wonderful human being, intelligent, loving and plagued by something that he never once asked for. Something he didn't deserve, and all it made the redhead want to do is show him how important he was to her. It would be a journey she knew, but every journey started with a step. Their step? Chocolate. Always, always chocolate.
Digging out her extra large unopened container of Nutella from her trunk, Lily bounced down to their shared common room, and waited for him to arrive.
It feels good to be back,
You’re kidding! I can see the papers now, 'Crazy Red Head and Random Lanky Boy Are The Life of a Seemingly Over the Top and Ridiculous Wedding!' And you succeed.- Mmmhmm [she hummed, smiling mischievously]. Well some of them looked like men, but definitely acted like boys. Lily, you know me so well. I’m sure that’s the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me [jokingly, Doe sniffed and acted as if she was whipping a few tears of joy away before giggling softly.] But really, it was just innocent fun. I did meet this one boy though….
I’m sure it’s a mad house in that boy’s head. Hm, I’d have to say mine is Remus, Sirius, Peter, then James. They’re all very, special boys. [Her pearly whites flashing, Doe couldn’t help but laugh with her.] What? All I’m suggesting is that Little Petey may be getting a little help in order to deal with that lot all the time. He can’t be too much of a genius if he still chooses to go along with Sirius and James’ plans. But you gotta love Petey. He cute.
Remus and I tried to aim for that, we really did. I really should just write my own article about it at this point. I would have invited you and Marlene and Mary as well but, Petunia's already seen pictures of you all. Tuney didn't want any of my friends from my "boarding school". [ Lilys' eyes widened and her mouth opened a little in an excited surprise. Not that she was surprised that Doe snagged and snogged a ton of boys. Or at least flirted with them. ] Lucky you. [ She giggled in response to her fake sniffles. ] I know, but you can't just leave me hanging there! Tell me more!
Probably is. As long as Remus' first, I'll be happy about it. Special is one word for it. [ Shaking her head, Lily's laugh continues. ] Yeah, but Remus' goes along with them at times -- he's got a brain I'm sure, but it's sort of like the time Marlene got me to eat a red pepper because she said it would help with this nasty headache I had. I knew it was stupid, but because I love the mardy woman anyways -- I went along with it. And you know how I have no love for spicey food.
I can see the headlines now, “MUGGLE BORN EXPLODES FROM HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE.” [He spoke enthusiastically with his hands, spreading them out to emphasize each word.] I’ll be sure to let the Prophet reporters know that I tried to save you.
[He narrowed his eyes at her, smirking knowingly. Sirius remembered many of Lily’s most embarrassing moments. He made sure to, so he could use them against her in the future. It was, after all, his self-appointed duty to humiliate her.] Liars never prosper, Evans. [He let out a similar sound to, “pfffhtt.” Ignoring the wave of her hand.] Procuring it? That would require having to get it from me. [Sirius patted the pocket where he had stored the sweet.]
[ Lily couldn't help but roll her eyes. She was no longer entertained by anything Sirius was saying and just felt a fresh wave of annoyance hit her instead. ] ...-- I can only hope you let Rita Skeeter cover my story too.
[ She narrowed her eyes back, determined to act like she still had some semblance of an upper hand. Which -- she didn't, but she couldn't not act like she did, right? ] And stalkers get restraining orders, Black. -- That's exactly what it means, at least you studied appropriate vocabulary over the summer. So -- I'd tread a l i t t l e more carefully if I was you.
Might, eh?I don’t know anything, Miss Evans. They purposefully keep me out of the loop because I am the worst liar out of them all.
Do you honestly expect me to believe that?
