Would you be interested in the opposite... treating a conscious human being as a puppet?

I love the Major very much and GitS is a series dear to my heart so this was... inevitable. I can’t wait to cosplay another of her outfits at my next con! ;)
Hey ! I really ADORE your Kamui cosplay ! I really wanted to do it for a long time but thought I wasn't not good/skilled enough to do it. But seeing you do it in a really simple way gave me confidence and finally have the courage to do it. So THANK you so much for your tutorial ! You're so beautiful and your cosplays are simple but really good and well done :3
Hello! Thank you very much for taking the time to write me such a kind message. I am really, really happy that my approach could help give you some confidence for cosplays of your own!! I also am always learning important lessons about working within one’s means and skill level but still creating end results I can be happy with. I hope you and I continue to break past insecurities and enjoy cosplaying to the fullest!! Please feel free to contact me any time if you ever want help with cosplays, and thank you for bringing happiness to my day.
For your Kamui cosplay, did you have any issues with the no shoes thing? In addition, I want to make this my Halloween Costume and go-to con cosplay, but the thigh windows and lack of shoes has my mom worried (I'm 15). What do you recommend to remedy these? I don't mind breaking screen-perfect quality.
Hi there anon!! These are some really good questions. I actually wore skin-color flats at Anime Expo (very comfy) and took them off for some pictures (like the ones taken at the FE gathering)! That way I was protected when walking around in crowds but once we were in a calmer area with less people I could put the shoes aside. I recommend having a pair of clear or nude flats/sandals with this cosplay… just seems safer that way. And some cons don’t allow bare feet, for the safety of the attendees. (You could also invest in Dance Paws, which give the illusion of being barefoot, but I’ve never tried them and can’t vouch for them personally.)
The thigh windows could be an easy fix- I would recommend either finding fabric in your skin color and sewing it inside those windows to give the illusion of skin when really you’re totally clothed, or simply keeping the thigh windows open but wearing opaque leggings/stockings in your skin tone underneath. Either way you’re totally covered.
Thanks for your questions!! I’m happy to lend more advice if you ever want it, hope I could help you!
finally processing shots from AX haha ;;; thank you to everyone who supported me!! I had a wonderful time at AX and made so many new friends- let’s do it again soon!

How did you make your amazing Kamui cosplay? ;0;💕💗
Hello!! This will be a somewhat long answer, I hope I don’t bore you!

This cosplay can be divided into 1. clothes, 2. accessories, and 3. sword. I’ll go through each one in turn!
1. Clothes The absolute first thing I made for this cosplay, to kind of lock in the commitment to cosplay Kamui, was the chest/torso armor. But to be quite frank, I hate making armor. This is for loads of reasons, most having to do with transporting the stuff and expense/time, comfort, etc. I’m very frugal and don’t mind sacrificing accuracy for ease of movement and lower costs- making a screen-accurate cosplay just isn’t the priority for me.
What I’m tryna say is that pretty much all the “armor” i represented/replaced with clothing. The torso/chest armor is a white corset I modified with black felt and some silver fabric (not shown in above pictures) (hand-sewn, I don’t have and have never owned a sewing machine). All “lines” which should represent places where armor is stacked are actually hand-drawn freehand using a fabric marker.
The leggings and arm… armor were made in a similar way, with black felt in the appropriate places and lines drawn in marker. for the leggings, I added gray paint where the arrow-like accents were supposed to be. I used some leggings/some long gloves bought online as bases and altered as needed- making Kamui’s weird horrible thigh windows was probably the least fun. My black leather gloves I’ve had a long time- I’ve actually used them frequently for cosplay.
The skirt she wears I made from deconstructing a white miniskirt I got online and adding some champagne-gold fabric (again, hand-sewn, so very rough shapes)
I MADE THE CAPE OUT OF A BEDSHEET SAY WHAT U WILL BUT IT COST 4 DOLLARS AND I HAVE ENOUGH MATERIAL LEFT OVER FOR AT LEAST TWO MORE CAPES that’s some good buyer sense if i do say so myself (I didn’t use a pattern for the cape, just sorta winged it. handsewn/hotglued, very rough job ofc because I am not a skilled cosplayer)
The sash was made out of the same bedsheet :v thanks bedsheet
The shirt I bought on ebay (searched for “black blouse white collar”, got some good hits) and painted the buttons (they were originally gold) no alteration needed other than that.
The hip armor is the only non-clothing thing I made and it’s two pieces of plastic (the thin kind that moulds to heat) painted and attached to a thin belt which is hidden under the corset. I shaped it a little by wrapping it around a pot which had been on the stove but since it was squished between me and the corset during wear it really wasn’t necessary.
2. Accessories
The headband is a plain black headband painted with gold nail polish and with pieces of painted plastic (salvaged from scraps) hotglued on. it really held up during the con and transport, very proud of it.
The collar fastenings are made from thin painted cardboard pieces, gold cord, felt (to provide a backing for safety pins) and hot glue.
The sash decoration is made of cardboard and felt backing as well in the same manner.
Lastly the white belt that supposedly acts as straps for her chest armor is actually two belts I connected and trimmed to loop around my head and tuck into the corset. it doesn’t connect to anything. everything is illusions
3. Sword
The sword was made of cardboard scraps I found around the house, paint, some tape and ribbon, and hot glue
NO PATTERN JUST WINGING IT LIKE ALWAYS
Conclusion:
LOTS OF FABRIC LOTS OF WINGING IT LOTS OF ME BEING CHEAP
