Given the associated trilobites in 2.8, I believe the " Blank Era " is meant to be the Cambrian era (or something similar), back when most life existed under water. It seems like Arcana wants to reverse time all the way back to the Cambrian - or even before that- for likely arcane purposes that are still unknown

However, this flood does effectively erase everything created by the current arcanists and humans, so we can infer that arcana wants to "reset" humanity.
