Really stupid au where when they were younger, Kakashi and Obito shared an accidental kiss a lot like Sasuke and Naruto. (Kakashi commits to his mask shortly after but will never not insist it's unrelated)

Years later and Kakashi, trying to cheer up Naruto and Sasuke ab their own embaressing accidental first kiss, shares his own story

Then, years later when Obito reveals himself on the battlefield, instead of going "woah, another Uchiha!?" when he hears his name, Naruto can't help but point and shout OH MY GOD UR THE GUY WHO KISSED SENSEI!!!!!!!!

Instant dead silence. (Obito wants to die)

Sakura, who never heard the story ab how it was a one time accidental kiss: "omg... sensei's childhood boyfriend went evil on him... this is so fucked up"

Obito is VIOLENTLY thrown off by this turn of events (and also hasn't actually thought ab it in years oh my god that did happen didn't it)

Kakashi, seeing how badly it threw him off, and also the kind of person who plays hard into throwing people off and generally fucking w them to gain an edge, seeing Sakura mumbling ab lovers to enemies and just kinda goes "Yeah Obito I can't believe you'd do this to me I thought we had smthn special."

"Yeah a rivalry????"

"So I was only ever a way for u to get stronger,, figures u were using me,,,"

[Confused Obito car crash noises]

Sakura yells smthn ab him being a deadbeat and how Kakashi can do so much better and Naruto is instantly shouting in agreement as Sasuke stands there like "hn." Which is basically the same thing for him

Kakashi just starts straight up lying actually

"What about all those picnics we went on... watching the sun set over konoha..."

"Are you talking about when Minato said we weren't allowed to come back inside till we stopped arguing and ate on opposite ends of the roof bc we couldn't even look at eachother without yelling???"

"It was so romantic."

Obito, starting to actually doubt himself, "was that a date????"

(It was not.)

"You died in my arms..."

"I died under a rock"

"We literally got eye married" (not a thing, he just made this up 3 seconds ago)

"We got WHAT" (no one can prove him wrong tho bc no surviving Uchiha knows that much ab their clans marriage traditions)

"Oh my god sensei's husband is a deadbeat" - sakura, horrified (and maybe a little delighted)

"Figures." -Sasuke, who's been in proximity w Obito for some time now and absoloutley believes every word ab this topic Kakashi is saying

"Woah. This is almost as bad as the fact he murdered my parents when I was a baby dattebayo" - Naruto who's priorities are NOT what they should be

"Ok. I wouldn't go that far." - Sasuke, who's priorities are also fucked but not THAT fucked, oh my god Naruto

"No, no he's right. We should kill him even harder for this" - Sakura, who doesn't actually agree but wants an excuse for more juicy sensei love drama (and also wants to see Obito beaten to death anyways)

I think Itachi’s novel mentioned that the sharingan eyes see everything red (and if it doesn't say that well I still like the concept) and I have the headcanon that each person's chakra has its own color. So the sharingan sees the world in a red filter and over it people's colorful chakra signatures. (I guess this makes them kind of sensors).

Also tiny detail, Kakashi's chakra is white/gray and I hc Obito's as black, which is why Kakashi's sharingan is black in the last panel.

(These are my ACTUAL notes from my friends birthday party full of people who absolutely did not know who the fuck Itachi and Kisame were or how pairing names work or what a ship is.)

Writing kisaita (on and off) for 15 years

Never get tired of the ship

Excellent, friendly people in the fandom to keep making content (Cynni)

Presentation is less about the specific ship and more about the general qualities that make their ship S-tier. You may find this echoed in your own OTP, IDK.

Powerful, badass characters who can kick anyones asses no problem, as depicted where they are casually taking a stroll after Kisame (who still has his little fo-hawk) casually takes down the four-tails

Kisame is noted as the ‘tail-less jinchuuriki’

Itachi is clearly a fucking powerhouse, we don’t need to debate that

Working with strong characters means you are more easily able to portray their weakness and explore that side of them since that rarely gets screentime

Auxiliary, not main characters

Main characters are harder to write because they spend a lot of screen time accomplishing their goal and doing Plot

Auxiliary characters are more malleable, and morally gray ones especially so

Depicted here are Itachi and Kisame, separately, being ordered by their villages to kill their own people. They carry this order out, but do not particularly like it. Nor are they particularly loyal to their own villages, despite carrying this order out. It’s hard to say where their loyalities lie.

The answer is WITH EACH OTHER OBVIOUSLY

Any ship that has a timeskip has LOADS of canon-verse material you can work with, especially if it feels like the characters have changed or their dynamic has changed.

For Naruto especially, WTF are Kisame and Itachi doing for three years? Clearly neither of them are out capturing jinchuriki. They aren’t seen lounging around Amegakure or Akatsuki headquarters. They are just traveling the world. Probably doing hits. Probably hitting on EACH OTHER WOOOOOO

Long time skips mean a few thing: 1) Canon divergence, 2) Canon compliant, 3) pre-time skip, 4) during time skip, 5) post time-skip; and that’s not even the AU’s

They clearly haven’t made any other friends during this time either so lots of relationship to explore

The Naruto franchise is notorious for retconning. Probably because Kishimoto (the writer) was pushed to create at a pace that was impossible for any sane or healthy man to keep up with.

Fanficition writers can take advantage of this poor writing by interpreting the character in a lot more ways than if the character was solidly written.

There are a lot of different ways Kisame is written, and accepted as so

Itachi less so but we don’t have time for that

Retconning allows you to take a writers mistake and turn it into utter brainrot that ten other people (me) will reblog every 3 years

This one is kind of specific, but if you like angst then OH BOY this ship has a lot of potential for it

Any OTP that involves an angsty edgelord and a sadistic tagalong can indulge in either EXTRA ANGST and be able to balance out the angst with humor

The KisaIta ship has 4 great themes about it:

Redemption

Acceptance

Forgiveness

And Existentialism of course

Dynamic:

Sharkboy / lava girl

Edgelord / goof

Leader / follower

Maybe old? / a touch too young

Respect for each other

S-tier OTP because of strong themes and repeatable dynamics

Kinkfest here we come

S-tier OTPs must be able to withstand an intense variety of smut writing

Powerful level = able to handle pain and dish out pain

Body things? = more positions

The Shape of Water was one of the single best thing to happen to the KisaIta 18+ fics because (even though it existed before the movie came out) a lot more readers were into it now

Also, Kisame makes this ship work more than Itachi. He is fucking DEVOTED

at this point I was running out of my 10-minutes (THEY HAD THE AUDACITY TO PUT ME ON A TIMER) so i just backfilled the rest of the presentation with fanart and memes i like

Why do I like KisaIta?

I mostly write smut

kisaita isnt about twink shark monsterfucking. its about the crown jewel of an elite and doomed family ruining his own life and running off to interact with people he would otherwise never be around and the closest person to him is an incredibly talented and powerful but tragically disillusioned man from a war torn society who was originally tasked to eliminate him should he ever betray the akatsuki but he never does because they actually learn about and respect each other and despite both of them knowing that neither will ever see a happy sunrise ever again they still make an effort to take care of each other

Headcanon that Itachi takes a lottt of different medicines and things to ease the pain of his chronic illness.

Like, a LOT.

Some herbal remedies that Sasori has made for him. Some pills that Kakuzu was able to get from the black market. Anti-inflammatory creams that Konan’s picked out for him during various trips through random backwater villages.

And of course here comes Deidara and Hidan with this weird-smelling green stuff that they crush up and roll into little white papers, lighting up and taking long drags before passing to Itachi with a “Here man; might not do much for pain but it’ll fuck with your mind so hard that you won’t even know that you’re hurting!” “Plus it’ll make your art a lot better, hm!”

Even Tobi has been known to (in private, of course) sit and give Itachi back rubs, anxiously rubbing cream into his little cousins aching muscles.

Point is, at any given time of day (and night), the Uchiha is heavily under the influence of something or other.

Kisame keeps a close eye on him nearly constantly, to make sure that he never takes enough of any one thing to kill him, that he always has food in his system, that he’s staying hydrated and at least attempting to get a decent amount of rest, etc. He’s gotten to know Itachi so well over the years that he can tell how he’s feeling or how much pain he’s in just by glancing at his  face. When they go on missions, half of what’s in Kisame’s backpack are Itachi’s various items. And Kakuzu has been instructed by Pein to give the duo a slight bit more money for travel expenses than the others, because at nights Itachi has to have a bed at an inn; sleeping outdoors on the ground, no matter the weather, is unacceptable.

A rough life, but a manageable one.

And then the day he fights Sasuke he just. Takes nothing at all. No herbs no tonics no pills no painkillers. Absolutely nothing. Because he intends to leave the world clean.

Or something like that.

Rewatching Shizuma's arc and yeah, my headcanon that he has Kisame traits but Itachi's features remains SOLID.

Also one more headcanon: He is a tiny Hoshigaki compared to the rest of the clan. Like you know, he's still considered a tall big boy, but in Hoshigaki's perspective? Nope this is still a baby.
