“The fact that winter is coming to a close is upsetting”
“Why is that, hmm?”
“Sorry. Didn’t catch that.”
"I said, you’re in my way. Can you move?”
“He left...that son a bitch left me here alone.”
Sulley listened and finished off his last glass. “So just like your biological parents, I understand. You don’t seem too resentful from what I can tell. Although my first impression could be wrong.” He shrugged a little before nodding at her words. “Of course, we can move on.” He chuckles and starts cleaning the back of the bar, just wiping the sides so he looks like he’s doing something. “I’m touched.” He follows her eyes quite obviously checking his face over, but doesn’t mind. Sulley was’t insecure about the way he looked, and this blonde was quite a looker. He welcomed her flirtatious nature, finding it to be entertaining to interact with. He raised an eyebrow before answering. “Yeah, been a few years now. You think so, huh? Well then I definitely need a refresher.”
Shock continued to watch him work. Eyes flicking lazily over him. “People can be misleading, handsome.” She smirked just a bit before continuing. “Thank you. It’s a bit of a touchy subject.” She absently begins doodling abstract designs on the bar top with a fingernail. “As you should be.” Her smirk broadened and her teeth catch her bottom lip. Shock was in no way going to drop any walls here but it was nice being able to just have fun around without the pressure’s Oogie put on her about pranking. She was a bit of a flirt but wasn’t everyone in some way? “Oh, then you rescued the perfect almost damsel in distress tonight. As soon as you get off we will go swimming.”
Sulley listens and nods. “I understand. But from the sounds of things your adoptive parents raised you through your teenage years, right? I think I’d be the same- I’d be close to whoever raised me, not to whom gave birth to me.” He shrugged, trying to regard it in that sense, even though he couldn’t fully understand. He grabbed a glass, polished it, and then another, stacking them all up for his colleague to come and grab whenever they might need them. “Sounds like a solid team.” He laughs lightly and nods at the end of her sentence. “I’ll definitely keep that in mind.” Sulley leaned with one arm over the counter, his body slanted a little so he could hear her easier. He tried to be as mysterious as possible at the same time as being open about subjects. Very few people here knew who he was or what he did, which made it easier for him to have his cover. A smirk grew on his own lips, keeping that curiosity alive. “I can’t say it’s anything I’ve done since college.”
She shrugs lightly, tucking hair behind her ear. “They raised me from birth almost. Same for my brother Lock. Barrel was adopted when he was already a teenager so he harbours more resentment than myself.” She places her palms flat on the bar. “Let’s move on though, get away from this subject.” She nods her head a bit. “I can kinda keep you safe so rest easy tonight.” She jokes lightly. She leans in a bit more, eyes fixated on his face. Watching him closely to try and get as good a read on him as she can. The air of mystery to him intrigued her, made her want to ask more questions. “College, eh? Well, we should change that. After hours is the best time to go swimming.”
"How about now?"
"Sounds good to me."
"Darling, they’ve always been cute. Especially the blonde ones. We need to go get a drink together."
"That we do, any particular time you're looking at?"
"I could’ve told you that."
"True, but it was much more fun than I anticipated. When did they start making bartender's so cute?"
"Who knew a bar in Disney would be such fun."
Sulley had a knack of observing people from afar- he was very discreet most of the time, or he could hide behind his cover. He was one of the best at what he did, after all. It didn’t make making friends easy though. Quite the opposite. He nods as their conversation continues. “It’s definitely better than a lot of people. I actually know a lot who don’t get along with their parents at all. Which is a shame, I think.” Sulley smiles sweetly before chuckling and waiting for the glasses to go through the washer with the tea towel wrapped around his hand. “I bet you make one hell of a team. I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of one of your pranks, I can tell that already.” As she leaned in, he pulled the door of the machine open, letting the steam rise a lot further away before raising an eyebrow. For a moment, he wasn’t sure how to play this, but then he reminded himself he had to live a little. It wasn’t all about work. He rested his arms on his side of the counter, tilting his head to the side a little. “Well, I’d by lying if I said you hadn’t spiked my curiosity.”
Shock was the smartest for a reason. She was the quietest, the more patient one, she could lie in wait. She was good at observing and she just found herself doing it all the time. "I suppose I have a mixed opinion on that." She tapped a finger on the edge of the bar. "I feel no shame in never wanting to know or speak to my birth parents but I couldn't not talk to my adoptive. I find it's based on circumstance." She grins a bit watching him. "Oh, we do. We're the best team around and no you do not." She laughs a bit, staying leaned in. She tilts her head to the side wondering what kind of person he was. The kind who said screw the line or the kind who just toed the line. A smirk crept to her lips and her tongue swiped at her bottom lip. "Tell me, have you ever broken into a public pool...or a private one after dark?"
He grinned at her nickname. “I like that—human torch. Has a nice ring to it.” He slanted his head from side to side considering it. “I mean I could hold it over your guy’s heads,” he teased. “Hey, you will always have me and Bare.” He held up his hands with a smile. “Never. Hey, that ass-whole deserved it and more.”
"Jesus. Don't get cocky." She rolled her eyes and shook her head lightly. She fixed him with a look instead of dignifying his teasing with a response. "I know. As you two will forever be stuck with moi." She pressed a hand to her chest with a grin. The grin faltered a bit. "Oh, he's gonna get more. Don't worry."
"Thanks to Sally?"
"Oh, you didn't hear? Oogie had to take the broken doll to the ER the other night. Apparently she can't rock a killer pair of heels. Tragic...really."
He just flashed his whites at his sister. “Oh I know. I meant in the near future. Or possibly when you want the heat on tonight.” He stuck his tongue out. “No, really, do you have one? Should I be concerned maybe burn someone’s ass?” For a moment his face was serious. “You are my baby sis. If I have to punch someone I will.”
She made a face in retaliation. "Hey just because you're a walking human torch doesn't mean you can hold heat over the rest of our heads!" She placed her hands on her hips. "No. I don't. Thank you for reminding me I am irrevocably alone." She sighed melodramatically before collapsing into a nearby chair. "Oh get over yourself. You've done quite enough punching."
