Arrived as promised - the follow-up guide to my Captivate 6 Essentials class. I enjoyed instructor, Kevin Siegel, and think ASTD.org offers a great resource in its Essential Training Pass. Flat fee - all of the Essentials training you want. So far, I’d rate all as good to excellent quality online training.   Back to Learning Captivate 6, there is a lot to learn for me as a new user. For users of previous versions, you’ll need to consider an upgrade. Captivate 6 is equipped to publish to HTML5, the format needed for iPad/iPhone. I look forward to sharing what I learn by posting videos here. Are you using Captivate? What version? What e-learning tools are you using?

It was the psychology of behaviorism that identified success in learning design or instructional design as breaking down a task into smaller chunks.  With each "chunk" comes an objective -  a measurable way to determine if there has been learning success.  I have found in the workplace that when developing new programs, creating objectives is an area that many of my colleagues struggle.

In 1956, Benjamin Bloom created a taxonomy of learning that is the basis for much help in objective creation for today.  This link has great resources you can begin using today with your learners - adults or children.

If you're like me, you're concerned about screwing up your grade because when posting in the discussion board , the scoring rubric stops abruptly when you make a citation error.  Here is some APA citation help.  I'm going back to add a citation to my post that I forgot.  Damn.

Will I buy it? Technology for Trainers by T. Toth

Thomas Toth is a facilitator of a training course I am taking in e-learning authoring tools.  His book "Technology for Trainers" is a few years old yet it remains a high seller. I am curious of the content and whether it will make it to my book shelf.  From what I noted in one recorded session, Mr. Toth is a dynamic and talented facilitator with extensive knowledge in e-learning when it was still CBT (computer-based training.)  Follow up information is forthcoming...

5 Thoughts About My Tumblr Start-up

While I sill had 2 days of a free trial remaining, I chose to use the tumblr.com up and running tutorial to help jump-start my experience with the site.  What I’ve learned is:

1.  Tumblr has made several changes that made Lynda.com’s tutorial essentially obsolete.

2.  Internet Explorer, IE9, is not very compatible with tumblr and definitely incompatible with pixelunion-themes.

3.  This office space theme is charming but I want to customize further.  Move this, make this bigger, remove that.  It won’t happen unless I dive into HTML. 

4.  I wish I didn’t purchase the premium theme as cute as it is.

5.  I thought this was going to be more “post and go”….I’ve been working on this for 6 hours and this is my first post.
