Sometimes you just have to stop working on a piece before it consumes you.
Quess I would never finish if I don't stop now.
My sisters OC for her birthday
I am done. This project was huge. It's about 40 inches tall. Mix media with golden metall flakes
Don't why I always get content labels. Maybe because of the guns? But hey, here she is. I am not 100% satisfied, but I guess I am just in a stage where I just see the mistakes instead of a pretty good result as a whole.
I made this modular so I can put her in different outfits if I wanted to. But I think I worked long enough on Lara, at least at the Moment. But if somebody has suggestions, I take them.
After days of Work I am ready to share the base of my new project. My ambitious plan is to put this base Lara in all her iconic (official) outfits she wearing through all games.
Successions?
which outfit I should start with?
Classic (TR1)
Classic (TRA)
Classic (New Trailer TRLoA)
Legend
Underworld (jungle shorts)
AoD Shorts
My fiancé already recommended to put her in a star Trek uniform as well.
Does anybody else have ships, that they don't ship themselves but totally get why other people would ship them?
That in their headcanon one or both have different partners, sexualities, no partner or something?
Which ships do you understand but imagine differently? And what's your head canon instead?
I am new to the Star Trek Franchise.
I always new what it is about and that there are different shows in different areas.
I started with Voyager, because it was somewhere in the middle of the original and modern interpretations. So all my opinions are based on this.
I imagined an entertaining show with some not very deep but interesting takes on society, theatrical over the top acting and a trashy but charming atmosphere. Nothing super deep. Just a fun watch.
But I was so wrong.
I always knew it had to be good, but it is FANTASTIC! (I know I am late for this, but I have to say it out loud. And I hope to get in touch with the Fandom more)
It's breaks down to following aspects:
1. Believable and somewhat consistent laws of physics and science.
ST may not be the most accurate depiction of science, nature, space travel etc. but it's always believable in the world of Star Trek. I am the first nerd that calls out BS on inaccurate information about science in Shows and Movies and I know that sometimes they just use fancy words to say nonsense but it works. I believe every dumb thing they say and every restriction their science have. It feels consistent. It works in their world. A little bit like a good magic system. I know magic isn't real but it has to be believable.
They don't get to deep in certain things and don't even try to explain how some things work, because they know they couldn't. And that's fine.
Therefore some topics get a deeper explanation, Plot relevance or something. These always have a connection to our science and it feels logical in the shows logic.
2. Characters
Every Character is likable or at least entertaining. Again, I can just talk for Voyager but I love these people so much!
Janeway is the best version of the lawful good stereotype I ever witnessed. Her decisions come from a strong moral compass, rooted in the laws of the Starfleet. But she isn't just a flat "good heroric" character. She suffers major consequences from these decisions, she thought where right.
Everybody is talking about "strong female characters with flaws" Just study the women of Star Trek.
In this Context: Kes and Neelix surprised me the most.
I really thought both would be just token Characters. Neelix as a somewhat dumb comic relief and Kes that is just his naive girlfriend.
But I was wrong again. They are super important for the Crew and the story. But maybe I make a separated post about why all characters are so damn good
3. Story and Conflicts
Every Episode is a short story with it's own conflict, but there are many storylines that are told through the show.
And almost every conflict is believable. Not a single one is just a super convenient existent or someone acted really dumb or someone is just evil without reason. That ties to the good characters, cause many episodes are character driven and explore one specific person or the relationship between them.
I am sure there are essays about every single episode and movie of the whole franchise.
I could talked about that for hours. After 2 seasons of just one show and some older movies.
But I just needed to write it down. And then I can post that incoherent nonsense as well.
when u like a character for their potential to be interesting and complex more than how they’re actually written
The List could go on and on forever. So just my intrusive thoughts:
- Every Girl in Naruto
- maybe I will die on this Hill but Leia Organa. Most lore comes from fans and the fact that she's Lukes sister and shared information
-Seyka from Horizon FW DLC .I strongly believe the romance with her is hated because she is barely a real person. She suffers from MC but as girl. Which is crazy because it's an lesbian couple. But at least my disliking of this romance isn't some homophobia BS, it's lack of personality for a romance and flatten the MC and their actions too
Just another study in watercolour
I am not very good with water colours, but I got some used water colour stuff from a friend of my mother in law. I gave it a try.
Didn't know what to do or how to do it in the first place. So I thought about some exercise and studies. All I knew was that underpaintings are important for shadows, lighting and perception of the main colour.
I actually like how it turned out, especially because it's just a study and my first real attempt of painting with these.
My cat Mačka for Scale.
Did you know that if you scan Kotallo before the Kulrut, his Focus form still has his left arm?
That's actual interesting.
I have two ideas. The first one is the obvious boring one: it's a bug in the game.
The second theorie is, that it's a bug of the focus. I guess it doesn't scan objects/subjects fully but uses pattern and heuristics to fill in gaps. It may has a library of data which contains most animals and objects. So it doesn't see the full body but recognises the shape of a human body and reconstructing the anatomy based of the hints it gets from the scan (hight, gender, race, ratio of arm and legs to torso and what ever).
