David and Angel’s life together is a whirlwind of work, status, of leading a pack.
But when they come home and when the doors close, it’s just them. Just David and his mate.

He doesn’t need them to be put together, to work out the logistics of the next pack trip, to lead a team in a project.
And they don’t need him to be an alpha, to put on a stoic face and constantly figure out ways to maintain the pack’s reputation whilst scheduling and networking for more security gigs.
So I think it’s really romantic how David proposed after everyone left the solstice party. When all their duties are finished, and it’s just the two of them. David knows Angel for who they are, not who they project themselves to be. And Angel knows David through all the ups and downs in his life and has stayed with him and loved him through all of it.
He doesn’t need their love to be one of status or public appearances. He loves them for them.
So after it all ends and they’re the rawest version of themselves, he shows them the ultimate form of love with a ring and a heartfelt question.
And when he’s on one knee, Angel sees their whole life together flash before their eyes. The love he’s shown them every single day. His open arms as they collapse into him after long days at work.
If eternity with him meant late nights cuddled together, eating bowls of ice cream while playing halo, it’s the best thing they could ever ask for.
They didn’t even need to think before the words “yes I do” came out from their lips.
