"The pit in her stomach grew. Her mother continued like she hadn’t said anything at all: “If she’s into you, then, well.. I don’t know if I’m comfortable with you being around her.” Her tone was so doubtful, but she acted so casually about it. As if her terrible words didn’t send a spike through her own heart, making her tear up in the darkness. 

Her emotional range was definitely still there without Runa present. It was mostly dark in the car, though her mother’s expression was clear to see. Still the mellow lights coming from outside felt comforting somehow. At least enough to help her feel somewhat protected while tearing up with fury and pain. A strong anger filled her, like a fierce bolt of light striking straight through her recent memories. It shot into her chest as well, she held her breath before sighing just to stop herself from crying. “You haven’t even met her, and you assume she is capable of..” She gasped and stuttered: “..of of harassing me, or worse? God, Mom.” She exclaimed tensely, just barely managing to keep her tears at bay. “I don’t know what she’s capable of.” Her mother responded somewhat sternly. Sofie tightened her brows, and let her anger soar. “Exactly.” She huffed. It filled around the knot in her stomach and made her braver. Or maybe, it was the memory of Runa’s kind soul that helped her along? “I finally made a friend, and you judge her that quickly? I get that you’re worried, but Jesus Christ.” She complained more loudly, unable to hide just how angry this made her. “Oh I’m not allowed to be worried?” Lillian barked back. ”I don’t want anything like that to ever happen again.” She continued in lowering sorrow. “She is most likely a lesbian, and she looked pretty strong too.” Her mother pointed out lastly, before sighing.
