We Don’t Want To Choose
Being a a man who wants to choke a woman on your cock, and also pull out her chair is not contradictory. Drying her tears when she burns dinner, and wanting to beat her ass with a paddle until she cries, are not contradictory. It’s okay to care about her favorite book, what happened at work, and why she thinks she doesn’t deserve that new sweater. It’s also okay to enjoy that whimpering sound she makes when you pull her hair, and want to smear her makeup with your cock while she edges herself for you. You can hold her when she stubs her toe, and still want to fuck her ass so hard she begs you to stop.
These are the men masochists crave. Men who understand that caring, loving, and tenderness are not weakness. Men who are also not afraid they will break us. Who know that we can be both strong and vulnerable. Men who satisfy our needs and give life to our dark desires. We don’t want to choose. Masochists are greedy, and we want both.
Just to clarify
In BDSM there are three separate forms of power exchange. In no particular order:
Sadism & Masochism
Topping & Bottoming
Domination & Submission
Sadism & Masochism is the exchange of power through pain. Spanking, flogging, whipping, caning, CBT, nipple torture, even rough sex. Like feeling a little pain with your pleasure? You’re a masochist. Does making someone hurt bring you pleasure? You’re a sadist. Can you be both? Absolutely. I think most of us are, in subtle ways. (My Domme pointed out it was rather sadistic of me to tease my dog with a treat to make him do cute tricks.)
Topping & Bottoming is the exchange of power through sex. One of you is in control of the situation, whether it’s just for this roll in the hay, or every single time with your partner. That person is topping. The passive, or controlled one is bottoming. So if it’s being held down or tied up during sex, or begging for an orgasm, or edging someone until they cry… that is sexual power exchange. Can you be a top and a bottom? Oh, yes, you can. You can even do it in the same romp, if that’s what works for you and your partner.
Domination & Submission is the exchange of power through emotions and intimacy. D/s (the shorthand for this) is about rules, structure, discipline, and protocol. And that can be as intense as a 24/7 Master/slave relationship, or as simple as calling your husband ‘Sir’ or ‘Daddy’ because he said so. In between is a WORLD of amazing ways to exchange power mentally.
Rules are set in place with a purpose -not just because they’re sexy. Rules are things like: Check in via text when you leave work (so I know you’re on the road and shouldn’t text). Send a photo of your outfit every morning (so I can see how beautiful you look today, and compliment you). Work out four times a week (because I want to help you stay healthy).
Protocols are similar, they are standards of behavior, such as the way you talk to and address your partner, hand them a drink, carry yourself when others are around, or present yourself to them in varying situations. Protocols are brilliant for reinforcing the D/s dynamic. Broadly speaking, you’re not often reminded of protocols unless you misstep. So something as simple as remembering to stand to your girlfriend’s left and wait quietly if she’s talking to someone at a party can reinforce your submission to her.
Discipline is about reinforcing the dynamic and enforcing rules and protocols. Mistakes are made, rules forgotten. We’re all human. That is when discipline comes in. The transgression is addressed, punishment handed out, and then the slate is wiped clean. Add in some affection after the fact and you’ve just reinforced everything you are working towards together. The intimacy required for this is pretty damn intense, and it’s important to know each other well before diving in.
Structure is key in a D/s dynamic, because without consistency, it can all fall apart. Rules that aren’t enforced are unlikely to be followed. A Dom who allows his sub to get away with everything isn’t likely to keep the respect he has earned. And respect and reverence are part and parcel of the whole kneeling thing. Likewise, a submissive who is constantly fighting the rules she agreed to isn’t respecting the dynamic, and isn’t doing her part to make it work. D/s is a lot of work for both partners, and isn’t something to be jumped into too quickly or taken lightly.
—–
Now, to review, you can mix and match the forms of power exchange however suits you and your partner(s). And it is often different from one partner to the next. Some people fit the classic roles of Dom/Top/Sadist and Sub/Bottom/Masochist. Some people switch between sadism and masochism, while always remaining a Dom and top. Some people switch between topping and bottoming. Do you see the point I’m getting at here?
You can be any combination of those six roles in any given relationship, and that includes NOT being one of them, even when, traditionally, the others may apply.
Wanting to be in control in the bedroom does NOT automatically make you a Dom. (Say it again for the fuckboys in the back.)
Enjoying rough sex and spanking does NOT automatically make you a sub.
And you can very well be a Dom who doesn’t physically punish his sub or enjoy rough sex. And you can easily be a submissive who does not get spanked.
The definition of these terms is much broader than my summary, and will differ from person to person. Don’t pigeonhole yourself by feeling you need to adhere to a stereotypical definition of any of these terms or roles.
And if you feel I missed something, and it’s possible I did, as this is based entirely on my reading and experiences in my local community, let’s talk about it.
Camera
Sometimes I wish there was a camera in our room.
Sometimes I wish there was photographic evidence of the things You do to me. Sometimes I wish I could look back over those moments and see Your face, see the satisfaction and pride and arousal that I know is there that I just can’t see.
:: ::
We took a shower this afternoon. We often shower together. It saves water and time, and it also gives us a chance for closeness that doesn’t always end in something sexual.
Today? It ended in something sexual.
Today it ended it something rough.
Today it ended with Him holding my head beneath the shower head, arms locked around my neck, holding me there, my one free hand flat on the shower wall. “Hit the wall if you absolutely cannot take it anymore. You can do it, baby. You can endure. I’ve got you, little mouse.”
I wish there was photograph evidence of the way He kissed my head and neck while I choked and struggled. I wish there was a picture I could frame of the way He held me, tight and hard and rough and so so close as the water filled my senses, as I fought to plug my nose and He refused to aquiesce.
I wish I could look back at the moment my hand connected with the tile. I wish I could study how He let me go and caught me spluttering and gasping against His chest.
“Good girl. What a good girl.”
But maybe I’m okay with it just being our little secret. Maybe I’m okay with holding it close inside my heart, replaying it like our own secret little tape we hide beneath the bed.
Maybe I’m okay with the lack of a camera.
“I’m a bad bitch I don’t need anyone”

On Being a Single Submissive with Severe Anxiety
-Wow, what a mouth full, and a tongue twister to boot.
So, hi all, most of you following me probably didn’t even know I was a part of the BDSM lifestyle. Surprise! It’s a part of the complex whole.
Anyways, that is not the point of this post.
So, dating is scary. The dating pool is deep and full of odd creatures, and things better left in the dark hidden places.
Being a submissive dating is even scarier, your dating pool is even smaller, and the process of meeting someone and entering into a dynamic with them is even longer and more in depth (if it’s not, you are doing something incredibly wrong). Whether you are looking for a long-term commitment, or a shorter arrangement, the vetting process, and getting to know each other phase takes time and a high degree of vulnerability. Submission is a vulnerable, yet empowering, thing in and of itself. It’s truly beautiful, but reaching that point with another human being takes time, understanding, nurturing, and boundless courage on your part.
Which brings me to the actual point (you know, this many paragraphs later), I have severe anxiety. Diagnosed, medicated, and working on it every day. It makes meeting potential Doms, and starting the process of getting to know them even harder.
In a world where pseudo-”Doms” with superiority complexes run rampant it’s hard not to get discouraged. These “Doms” (I use that term very loosely, scathingly, and with all the respect they should be afforded i.e. none) can be extremely off-putting if you have never experienced a true Dominant in action.
Recently I met one such imposter “Dom”, through *insert unnamed dating app here* he claimed to have patience, and the ability to wait on me and my pace, and also a history of keeping and caring for subs. We live somewhat near one another, and almost immediately he was pushing for me to meet up, and spend the night with him *red flag number one*. I told him no of course, and proceeded to explain my anxiety, my standards, and the fact that I thought it was wayyy too soon to even be considering a move like that (think less than two weeks). This man, who had previously stated that he thought I was “worth the wait” began to hurl abuses and criticisms. He insulted my character, accused me of being a “fake submissive”, and genuinely revealed his true colors in a firework display of juvenile butthurtedness (Not a word, but oh well).
Even for someone not dealing with an almost crippling level of anxiety, this would probably be detrimental, and for me it really stopped me in my tracks. If something like this happens, you have to pull yourself out of it though. Put on your big girl panties, and decide to keep moving forward with the mindset of “He is a poor representation of a man, and not even a sea urchin on the outer edges of this wonderful, welcoming, and heartfelt ocean of lovable sadists, darling kittens, and genuinely breath-taking Dominants”.
This post is for the other submissives out there like me with a servant heart, and depleting hope. A true dominant is going to have the time it takes to know your heart, and soothe your fears. In his firm, capable, and caring hands you will find that not only a healing balm for your anxieties, but someone worthy of the gift of your submission. That power lies with YOU, that gift resides in YOU, and you, my darling, should hold out for the right one. Whether it takes a year, ten years, or fifteen, never settle for less. You are not less because of your anxiety, you are not less for moving even slower than normal, and you are certainly not less for not wanting to jump in the sack at the first whim of some juvenile man on a poor excuse of a power play.
I hope that this wasn’t an incoherent jumble of thoughts. it’s a topic I am pretty passionate about. I hope it helps.
All My love,
Savannah.
Given where I am in life, I struggle the most with feeling like my submissive nature and desires makes me very odd. I am tired of trying to explain who I am across a restaurant table. Maybe a portable blackboard and Venn diagram would help. 🙄
Men think it’s all a dream come true until they start to realize there are expectations and responsibilities intrinsic to the dynamic. Gentlemen, you don’t get something like this for nothing. Not even in 21st century America. Sorry, not sorry.
In summary, I’m tired.
Think really hard before embarking on this path.
Happy birthday, Spice. I hope it’s an amazing day, and even better year. 🎉
“Men think it’s a dream come true until they start to realize there are expectations and responsibilities intrinsic to the dynamic.” That line tho. That speaks to me. So many guys are all about the “kinky girl into rough sex” but then when they realize that bdsm is only like 10% about sex, it’s everything else that makes bdsm relationships what they are. Being in a bdsm dynamic is hard, it’s more than just rough sex. For a dominant it means leading and guiding your partner, having rules and expectations in place, for both it’s all about constant communication and trust, and so much more. Then when they fail to see why rough sex isn’t enough to sustain the dynamic things get confusing. As submissives we need so so much more than that.
^^^^What she said.
I love and appreciate that others understand the complexity of being in a Dom/Sub relationship. Its deeper than the kinks or "whips and chains" as some poke fun of. The depths this lifestyle are ingrained in who we are, and how we think. From our daily decisions to actions in the bedroom (or dungeon/safe space/community), there is a thought process and way we live our lives.
Dating has been the biggest challenge! It takes longer to open up about who you truly are because sometimes the person on the receiving end depicts it as a one way exchange of power. Or that its just about dominating another or constantly pleasing your partner. To develop a trust and bond of experimentation or exploration of lifestyles in general is a powerful exchange that doesn't happen with just anyone.
That's your person. Your life. Know that someone out there is the right fit and understands more than anyone else how you operate and will love you, every part of you.
THIS. This is why people don't feel safe. Why individuals feel like they need to hide. Why I get scared to be myself on a blog meant for expression. To the selfish person who believed it was their job to degrade me or make me feel bad..... go fuck yourself. There's a difference between roleplay and true verbal/psychological abuse. Respect and consent are number one before any actual fantasy or roleplay is carried out! If my followers see this, can you please help me out? Report this person. They've blocked me before I could respond or report. No one deserves to open a message and see that.
What are your favorite sex toys? Or places to buy toys?
I can't hear you down there....
