This is what I imagine when I think of Laurance’s OG design
Aphmau's Mermaid Tale: The Black Lullaby is honestly amazing. It's sad it isn't getting that much attention. Genuinely at the edge of my seat. Every episode is such a treat I get sad when there is no more to binge. I peek through some comments mentioning that it doesn't make sense. The plot is plotting. You get a piece every episode. You get to sit there and try to theorize on the bigger picture. It isn't handed to you. It requires you to wait for more without dragging out some story beats for too long.

Doesn’t this happened in season 4? I dropped it at some point because I didn’t like it…
But I love the trope of others finding out a characters secret identity. In this case not exactly a secret, but still applies. I cannot remember an instance where it felt truly satisfying. So that is something I would like to explore.

And I love her more everyday. My best friend, no contest. There is so much I love about her. Even if she would betray me for a scrap on the kitchen floor. I know she loves me, even if I swipe them away before she has time to react.
Finally finished listening to The Winx Chronicles Book 1:Fate
I'm afraid I'm going to go mad with re-listening to over 11 hours worth of magic again and again for the next few months. I did just that with The Book of Lore when it first released!
Is it the perfect retelling? No, and I find magic in that. I can fully enjoy this story over again, like I had many years ago. It's not the exact same, that makes it so exciting. It's so jam packed I even had to spread it across 11 days. Just so fully absorb what just happened. I loved picking up on dialogue that was obviously inspired, or directly sampled, by specific dubs.
Are there things that I miss that happened in the original but not in this retelling? Yes. Specifically the Trix. But I can tell it's a project made out of love for the series. The shifts and changes make sense for the flow. The ending, oh the ending! I await with bated breath for the next book.
I could go on and on about everything that happened. But what's the joy in that when, dear reader, YOU can also listen to it? It's well worth it. I WILL do it again. J. L. Martone did an amazing job. Deserves all praises. And the narration! How can one person make such shifts in their voice that I instantly go "oh, that's Stella speaking!" without breaking the flow.
Please please please, this will be constantly on my mind for year 2026. It's just Winx
