Sooo today was eventful and a liiiittle bit draining BUT I got to buy more calico critters and get on the swings at the park so it's all okey dokey!
I also developed a little method to get me to do things (mainly having to do with self-care) which is letting myself pick out stickers whenever I do something good
What is the schedule for Grace if he's spending the whole day in baby space?
Ooh!! Imma do erid life♡♡
It's a lot easier for there to be baby days for Grace on erid(especially because Rocky was like "oh yeah this is actually something humans need." to the scientist when they first arrived back xD)
These days usually start with a veeeery sleepy Gracey who does not wanna get outta bed (he's typically pretty sleepy if he wakes up feeling that small!) so Armando will sorta do that patting you do so gently wake a baby and by then Rocky n' Adrian will be there♡
First things first is getting all fresh n' cleaned up for the day (a change, outfit etc) before breakfast ♡
When Grace is that itty-bitty it's always a nutrient-dense formula that he's fed (something that Grace had lived on the first few months on erid but now was just used for baby days to ensure he was still getting all his nutrients!) usually Adrian will be the one to feed him while Rocky is already buzzing and talking to Grace ;u;
Grace of course by now is fluent (or nearly) in eridian but Rocky and Adrian like to shift their tones/melodies to the ones you use with hatchlings, something easier for little ones to understand, especially when your hatchling doesn't have the same vocal cords/hearing as you do♡♡ it helps Grace feel smaller when he hears these softer pitches/tones. Of course sometimes they'd slip into more advanced/regular eridian tones when chittering amongst themselves while holding Grace, which honestly makss Grace feel very baby bc/ the grown ups are talkin' but he doesn't need to pay attention to the conversation ;u; ♡
After breakfast is some outside time because it's important for tiny ones to be out in the sun! It's mostly Grace sitting up in the sand while Rocky brings him cool looking rocks (then immediately regretting it because Grace's first instinct is to put them in his mouth xD) and just enjoying the morning ☆
Even with the limited play outside, Grace gets sleepy and is in need of a nap (he only protest slightly until Rocky says he'll stay with him and watch over, which instantly has Grace accept the nap) 💖
After a nap it's lunchtime which, is another bottle and maaaaybe some attempts with some soft food (like oatmeal) that is easy for Grace to eat. But, about 80% gets over his hands and face and 20% in his tummy (he's very enthusiastic when it comes to lunch) xD
After lunch it's about more of the same, some play outside then some hanging out inside. Even through he's very itty-bitty, they still like to teach Grace stuff ;u; so sometimes the play is Rocky n' Adrian teaching Grace some hatchling signs and tones. They know he won't fully be able to replicate the tones but they praise him for trying his best (aka: he's just babbling but, they'll consider that him trying!!) !💖💖💖
Eventually afternoon becomes evening and that starts the night time routine for baby Grace ;u; getting him his supper, giving him a lil bath before getting dressed for bed♡
Bedtime has him all swaddled up in bed while Rocky and Adrian hum those melodies one sings for hatchlings who are struggling to sleep and Grace is out in minutes♡♡ The two stay with Grace that night just to make sure their little hatchling is safe and that they can help him if he wakes 💖
Dennis who needs something to do to calm down after a shift. Robby can sit and breathe, put something on the tv, work on his motorcycle, he found ways to just step out of his doctor shoes at home. But Dennis doesn’t have that.
Trinity watches reality show and eats ice cream, sometimes going wild makeup looks in the bathroom before showering, just taking a picture before washing it all away and feeling better. Dennis watches but he doesn’t get it.
Jack does yoga and meditates, clearing his mind in the warm sun and fresh air, feeling grounded afterwards. Dennis tries but he doesn’t have great balance and gets frustrated.
Dennis just sits on the door of his bedroom at Trinity’s and just…. Soaks in all his mistakes, everything he should have done. He wallows.
Until he found the one thing that helped. One thing that really helped. He’d seen a nurse doing it and thought he’d give it a try.
Coloring.
He started with a simple coloring book, a $1 thing and some cheap crayons. He sat the the dining table, put music on in his headphones and just… colored. He liked the drag of the crayons, the texture of the paper, the simple shapes, the thick lines.
Trinity thinks it’s fun and joins him, getting them matching books when Dennis finished his first one. They get silly packs of crayons from the dollar store, glitter, neon, pastel.
Dennis brings his coloring book and his art box of crayons with him to Robby’s when he spent the night, sitting on his living room floor at the coffee table, back to the couch, just in his own world.
Robby thought it was so cute, snapping a picture for Jack of Dennis in his pajamas coloring in a picture of a teddy bear. Robby sat down beside him, hand going to ruffle his freshly washed hair.
Dennis liked that, feeling empty headed and happy. It had to be what everyone else had been feeling.
One issue I have with being in little space and being around others when age regressed is that I don’t actually know how to speak to children. I have tried to make it a point to speak to kids as equals and not baby them as much as I can (without like forcing to much pressure on them + giving them the assistance they need. Trying to speak their language without speaking down to them) which I think is better in terms of child development but it has also caused me to struggle knowing how to ‘baby’ someone if that makes sense. Like I will see people say ‘treat me as smol plz i genuinely want to be infantilized’ and I’m like I’m trying idk how tho how do you baby someone no glue no borax
Iron Lung has me feeling very in the mood to watch old videos over pizza and just go back to being like 8-10 again 💔💔💔 this era of them is actually so near and dear to my heart 🙏
