if you have an axolotl fursona you are legally required to advocate for their survival in the wild, sorry
axolotls are dying en masse due to pollution and they are only alive and popularized as pets today due to their usefulness in animal testing due to their regenerative properties Send Text
for those wanting proof:

this is why you should always get multiple axolotls if you can!! it can be kind of a pain to quarantine them but it’s a good idea to let them mate if you have the space for babies.
I’m sorry but how does freely breeding your pet axolotls help with possible reintroduction efforts in the wild? you’ll just create a surplus of pet grade axolotls for rehoming and i highly doubt any conservationists will ever take them.
there is almost certainly a sufficient population for a reintroduction effort across accredited zoos who carefully track health and history of the animals. taking in mongrels without proper documentation, lineage, and dubious health would be a HUGE liability to their carefully selected population. not to mention all colour morphs are not viable for such a project. breeding your white axolotls to save the (likely extinct) wild population makes no sense.
I’ve heard this argued for pet birds as well. a pet will likely never be considered for conservation except for rare instances like the critically endangered pet spix macaw discovered in 2002. people fail to realize that breeding for the pet trade and breeding for conservation are two completely different things.
