Every child in music class should be gifted this once they’ve mastered this song we all seemingly had to learn.
when you’re out at a restaurant or a coffee shop or a target or whatever with your friends and you overhear/eavesdrop the same snippet of some stranger’s conversation, and you look at each other for a second to check that you both heard this stranger say the same weird/funny/baffling thing and just break out in knowing grins and quiet laughter… that’s a love language
I was eating alone at a mexican restaurant once and a group of college kids were chatting over tortilla chips. There was some jabber and then..
“ ..we had to climb over the bob wire!”
“Dude, did you just say ‘bob wire’?”
“Yea man, that spiky shit!”
“You actually think it’s called bob wire? Like fucking Robert wire? You think it’s called Robert wire?”
“Well what the hell do you think it’s called?”
“It’s BARB wire you idiot! Like Barbara wire!”
*the third guy* “Oh my god. You guys. BARBED wire. Because the wire has barbs, it is BARBED.”
“Oohhhhh!”
“Fucking Robert and Barbara wire. Fuck you guys.”
I hope Robert and Barbara Wire are in a happy and committed relationship.
people are absolutely EVIL about the boundaries of “picky eaters”. no, they do not have to try it. yes, they can know they don’t like it without having eaten it before. no, they probably have not suddenly grown a taste for the food they’ve said they hate. no, they probably are not going to like it in the Special Way This One Place Cooks It. yes, you are being a bad friend if you try to “trick” them into eating it anyway
Things that actually help picky eaters try new things:
“Do you want to try this off of my plate?”
“It’s made of [ingredients], I think you’d like [x part]”
“If you want to see if you like [x food], this is pretty good representation of it”
“You won’t like this, it tastes like [description]. Do you want to try it for fun?”
“Do you remember trying/have you ever tried [x food]? This is like that, but [differences]”
“I think you’d like the taste of this, but the texture is iffy. It’s [description]”
Make sure there’s other food they can eat if they don’t like the new one
And most importantly, build trust with that person by listening to them, showing that you take their concerns into account, and being cool if the answer is no. No is always an option. This isn’t something you do once, it’s a pattern you have to stick to if you want to establish that you are a safe person when it comes to food stuff
Basically: offer the food, explain what’s in it and why you think it’s worth trying, and then be cool with the answer you get. No pressure, no trickery, just be straight up with people

Truck Carrying Gaming Dice Spills Onto Highway, Rolls A Perfect 756,000

okay but this is the best part of this article
Convergent evolution is wild, bc like, crabs keep evolving to look the same but aren’t closely related, nature is just like: BIG MEATY CLAWS, little legs, pincers, head, tiny eyes, let’s do it again!
and trees look the same but oak trees are more closely related to rose bushes than they are pine trees, fucked up
nature just likes these damns shapes:
but on the other hand, mammals flying with powered flight?? That shit only happened ONCE and it had to do some janky shit to get there, especially with bat immune systems
like bat’s immune systems are HYPER-POWERED as well as repress most of their inflammatory reactions because in order to fly they needed a bonkers-high metabolic rate which unfortunately also create waste products from the process called “free radicals” that damage cells
however, despite these free radicals they manage to live up to FORTY YEARS, which is super long for a species their size, because their immune system are basically always ON and in an anti-viral state that make them incubators for disease due to warfare between their jacked immune systems and disease
bats are so gdamn weird, I love them, no other mammal has been able to copy off their homework and accomplish the same shape, and for that they are the anti-crab of the natural world, God bless
It really worked out for them too, like it’s a hell of a lane and they have it all to themselves, so they’ve really filled their niche. There are more bats than almost any other kind of mammal. Like, there are a higher number of individual bats, but also the most KINDS of bat.
For example there are about 30 million white-tailed deer alive in the world, whereas there are 15 million Mexican free-tailed bats living in ONE single colony in Texas. But also, there are about 43 species of deer on the whole planet, 38 species of feline, 34 species of canine… and about 1,300 species of bat.
It is estimated that one out of every five living mammals on Earth is a bat, or, to put it another way, if you took every single mammal on the planet and counted them as individuals, 20% of those animals would be some kind of bat.

Thank you, I do like a good bat! I love how upsetting their immune systems are 🤗

paprika hendl
This is the recipe I’ve been using for years for Paprikash. (a.k.a. Paprikás Csirke / paprika hendl) In respose to the current hype, I figured I’d share it with you all. Makes 6 servings.
Ingredients
Oil, butter or lard – 2 tablespoons
Chicken thighs, deboned & skin-on – 2 ½ to 3 pounds
Onions, thinly sliced – 2 (or 3 if small)
Hungarian sweet paprika – ¼ cup
Korean chili flakes – 2 teaspoons
Pastry flour – 2 tablespoons
Poultry stock, unsalted – 1 ½ cups
Red bell peppers, diced – 2
Salt and pepper – to taste
Sour cream – 1 cup
Lemon juice (optional) – 1 tablespoon
Directions
Heat the oil over medium-high flame in a large cast iron skillet. Add the chicken skin-side down and brown until skin is crispy, about 7 minutes. Remove to a board, and cut into bite-size pieces.
Remove any excess oil leaving about 2 tablespoons and add the onions. Sauté the onions until wilted and beginning to brown. Stir in the paprika and flour and cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
Whisk in the stock in portions, breaking up any lumps. Add the browned chicken pieces, bell peppers. and the salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
Stir in the sour cream and lemon juice if using. Adjust seasoning and reheat over low flame. Serve hot with noodles or gnocchi.
Variations
Mushrooms can be added with the stock.
Kosher version: Instead of sour cream, use 50% more flour and 33% more lemon juice. For passover use potato starch instead of flour.
THIS!!! This is almost exactly the recipe I use, but without the pepper flakes, and it gets baked in the oven instead of simmered.
This stuff is amazing, and disappears when put out in a crowd.
