“Daddy!”
Waddling over to her father as quickly as her little legs could manage, Lucina peered up at him with a grin on her lips. Hidden behind her back was her own gift for him, which she had constructed with the help of some of the castle’s servants. Most of the work was done by them, but Lucina would claim it as her own handiwork regardless. The fruit of their labor was a flower crown--one that was perhaps slightly too small for the Exalt’s head--but one she had poured her heart into nonetheless, after seeing others make them time and time again.
Since she, her mother, and her baby brother had set out to pick flowers as a simple present for Father’s Day (though Morgan could obviously do nothing to assist them), the princess had secretly kept some of their findings to herself. Once Robin had left, telling her daughter to stay with the wet nurses while she and one of her friends went to ‘find a bear for Daddy’. Lucina had no idea what to expect, thinking that her mother was going to bring home a teddy bear, like the ones she had received on her birthday. But at least it had given her the time she needed to prepare her own gift.
Looking immensely proud of herself, Lucina held out the makeshift crown of flowers. Even her mother had no idea that she had kept some of the flowers they had gathered to herself - they had become a bit squished and tattered, but they were beautiful all the same, especially for being held by a toddler. Pinched between her stubby fingers, she hoisted it higher, bouncing on her toes as though she had the intention of placing it on her father’s head herself.
“For Daddy,” she announced, blatantly ignoring the fact that several pedals had fallen from their homes with how rough she was handling it. “From Luci!”
Lucina, how does it feel to be a big sister? Do you like your little brother?
“Mmm… he’s ‘kay.”
Having her parents fuss over their new baby drove Lucina wild, and she found herself craving their regard more than she used to. Both her mother and father still did their best to include her, but she could not understand why they seemed to favor the newborn over her. That was not the case at all in reality, but in the child’s eyes it seemed like they cared less about her than she used to.
Of course she would grow to love her brother more and more as time went on, but since he had arrived, her parents had been giving him most of their attention, and not her. Sure, she had the wet nurses, her aunts and uncles, and even her new puppy to keep her company, but nothing would replace the love of her parents. Lucina was afraid that they would forget all about her and focus completely on Morgan. Her fears were ultimately groundless, but such a young girl was unaware of that.
“I don’ wan’ him to steal Mommy ‘n’ Daddy. I wan’ us both to have ‘em. Not jus’ Morgie. They’re mine first.”
"Well, aren't you adorable, little one?" (marth-marth-marth)
“Yeah! A-door-a-bull is me! A-door-a-bull is Luci!”
The word itself was a bit too difficult for the young princess to articulate properly, but she at least recognized its definition. Swaying on her heels, she giggled softly, pudgy hands folded behind her back as she looked up at the stranger, azure eyes wide with curiosity. He looked almost as though he could be related to her, though he bore no visible brand like the one in her left eye.
“You look kinda like Daddy, mister!”
Robin “Lucina! Let you kiss to Morgan!”
Lucina “Morgan! Smack!”
Morgan “smackeroo!”
——————
23/MAY is a “Happy Kiss Day” in Japan.
[I realized all of the stuffed animals I have are either webkinz or pandas.]
So far, Lucina’s birthday had been everything her parents said it would be. Everyone in the castle had wished her a happy birthday, and even some people she didn’t know came in! But the best part was the presents she was getting. Some of them she didn’t care for right now, but she had gotten so many toys, and even a tiara that looked just like the one her big sister had!
When Inigo approached her with his present, Lucina looked up at him, her eyes shining with excitement. The toys he placed before her made her grin, and she grabbed the two stuffed bears in a hug.
“Thank you, Inigo!” Lucina squealed, although it was muffled due to the toys she was currently clinging to.
Lucina’s enthusiastic words brought a smile to Chrom’s face, and he chuckled softly as he scooped her into his arms. It was almost hard to believe that she was only a few hours away from being two years old, but it was true.
“That’s right, Luci,” Chrom replied, giving her a little kiss. “You’re getting so big, I’m afraid I might not be able to pick you up much longer.”
“Wha’...? But... I like Daddy pickin’ me up.”
Her momentary frown barely lasted the duration of a minute, as it faded as soon as her father pressed his lips to her temple. She squealed and giggled, throwing her arms around his shoulders, which were barely able to meet at the nape of his neck. It was close to the end of the day, wasn’t it? Couldn’t they just begin their celebration now?
“Y’ said it’s fun! I want fun,” she stated, looking up at him with a curious blink of azure eyes. “Is it m’ day yet?”
Inigo smiled at the young Princess and held out a little bow so that Lucina could see it. It was a small bow made with a red ribbon, but she could take it if she wished. His face lit up in a smile when he saw Little Luci’s.
“That’s right Lucina! Tomorrow is your day, and this bow is a gift for you. Are you excited for tomorrow?”
“Yeah!” That went without saying, really, but the sight of Inigo’s gift caused the tiny girl to bounce on her toes. She’d been told about presents, but she hadn’t expected one from Inigo.
“Mommy an' Daddy said it’s fun, an’ there’s cake an’ stuffs,” she cooed, snatching the bow from Inigo’s hands so she could fiddle with it between her digits. For a moment, she debated simply nibbling on its ends, but she recalled being warned against doing so. Instead, she opted to pull on the ribbon, wondering what she should do with it.
“Um... thank you!” It was a good thing she had remembered her manners - her parents may scold her otherwise.
Faust turned to the excited Lucina tot. He was still trying to get used to the whole thing with there being two Lucinas around now. “Oh? How old are you going to be little Luci? Can you show me on your fingers?”
“This many!” Lucina cried, proudly showing just two pudgy fingers. That was correct, she believed; that was what her mother and father had told her, and she was inclined to believe them. After all, what reason had she to doubt them?
“M’ day is a good day! Mommy said I get cake!”
“It m’ day tomorrow! M’ day!”
The little princess could care less who exactly she was sharing this information with - she was incredibly excited! Though she was unaware just why this day was so important, she realized that it was hers, and no one could take that away from her. That, aside from the fact that she was apparently turning two, was the only thing she truly understood, but it was enough to light an ecstatic spark in her eyes.

da sister and i spent a lotta time discussin’ papa chrom yesterday. soooo i had to scribble some of that down aaah
“….Who put this bloody bow tie on my head?”
The culprit was none other than a rambunctious young princess, who had painstakingly taken the bow from her own blue locks to fasten it within the mysterious rabbit’s fur. She had no idea where it had come from, and the ribbon was honestly a bit loose considering how difficult it was to fumble with the accessory for her tiny hands, but in her eyes, the animal was now beautiful.
“Bun,” she cooed, clearly pleased with her own handiwork. Lucina didn’t realize that normal bunnies were incapable of speaking human language, either. “Pretty bun. Pretty like Mommy!”

❝…?❞
A pair of amber turn to gaze at the petite stature who’s hands reached towards to grab and tugged the tail of his coat. Not only was Robin confused by that action he was equally as confused by the call for her mother.
❝I’m sorry, I’m not your mommy.❞
He said that with reluctance, almost feeling bad for having to correct her for the simple mistake.
“Eh-!? But...”
Completely taken aback by the sight of who the person she approached really had been, Lucina felt her eyes reflexively well with warm tears. If this man was not her mother in truth, then where was she? Had something ill befallen her? The young princess was suddenly very worried, and she let out a small whine, unsure of what to do.
Unsurprisingly, the little girl soon began to wail, rubbing at the corners of her eyes with pudgy balled fists as she stood before this stranger. How could he have deceived her so easily? Sure, he had seemed a bit taller than her mother, but considering how small Lucina herself was, she hadn’t given it a second thought. Did this man steal her mother’s coat from her?
“Wh-where’s Mommy!? Why’s she gone? Wh-why d’you got h-her thing!?” By thing, she of course meant the cloak he bore - she didn’t quite understand the concept of alternate timelines at such a young age. All she could comprehend was that she had made a mistake, and her mother was nowhere to be found.
Though Lucina wasn’t exactly an expert on fish and their mannerisms, the fact that her precious goldfish was upside down and wouldn’t respond to her incessant tapping on its bowl made her deduce that something was indeed wrong. But what could she do? She was just barely tall enough to see into the glass, and it was much too heavy for her to pick up.
Letting out a whine, she bolted out of the room as fast as her little toddler waddle could allow, pushing past guards, maids, and anyone else who might get in her way with an incredibly strong conviction. Determined to find someone who could assist her, the tiny princess let her stubby legs carry her through long halls and down stairs until she burst into the courtyard, scanning the inner gardens for a target until her eyes locked on one.
From afar, she wasn’t sure if she even recognized the person in question, but Lucina could care less. She loved people, anyway, so what could go wrong? The innocent, trusting young girl toddled right up to whomever she had spotted, eyes wide with concern as she reached out to tug on the fabric of their clothing.
“‘Scuse me…! Um, um, um, I think somethin’s wrong wit’ my fishie an’ ‘m scared…!”

"Responsablurbity—?
…Oh, you mean responsibility,” Robin corrected, gently tapping her daughter’s nose with one finger. What a silly little thing, trying to say such large words at such a young age. Gently, she lowered Lucina to the floor, picking up the fish bowl with a grunt.
"Well, I suppose we’d better get him to the kitchen, shouldn’t we? We can find something to put him in temporarily while we’re in there.” She began walking out of the room, expecting Lucina to toddle after her.
After hearing Robin's correction, Lucina looked thoughtful. Yes, that was what her father had said. So many of the things her parents said were hard for her to understand, let alone repeat. She tried to say 'responsibility' to herself a few times, although none of them turned out with the right pronunciation.
When Robin set her down, though, she blinked. There were more important things on the child's mind than saying a word right, and she followed her mother out of the room happily.
"Daddy Jr. gets a bath, Daddy Jr. gets a bath!"
