Hi I'm out of the loop, what's going on in xmen with rogue?

Essentially, in Uncanny X-Men by Gail Simone, Rogue and Gambit have been placed in the role of surrogate parents to 4 young mutants known as the Outliers, who have formed a very... overt, I guess, very tumblr found family dynamic.

The Outliers have started calling each other stuff like Little Brother, in case you missed the narrative idea that these people are Family.

And this is a personal thing but I just find it incredibly saccharine and inauthentic. It's compounded by the fact that Rogue... doesn't really have much going on herself. Her powers are under control, totally, so she doesn't have to worry about that. Destiny and Mystique are entirely out of the picture, so she isn't much concerned with her mothers. The most arc she has is coming to terms with being a leader for the team, but because the main characters of the title are these four kids, what that actually entails is fulfilling a maternal, motherly role, which I just find really unappealing to read for almost 30+ issues.

Other than the kids, she mostly just... flirts with Remy, and I get Romy is one of the most significant and famous X-Men relationships, frankly comic book romances in general, but I controversially like it when relationships have conflict occasionally and Romy in this comic have no actual significant conflict. It's just devoid of any actual interesting storytelling, and I'm sorry to the Romy delegation but I want more from my female characters to be more than wives and more than mothers and Gail Simone's Rogue in all the issues of this comic has failed to be anything but. Particularly when she is a character who has expressed unease about having a child in the past.

And it isn't that we can't have a character change their mind, but why then do I ask is Rogue the central maternal figure when Jubilee is the one who made a choice to actively adopt a baby and be a mother? Jubilee barely interacts with any of the kids other than Deathdream. It's just a glaring issue that I feel hasn't really been commented upon because I guess there's enough Cute Shippy Romy moments for people to overlook the increasingly egregious misogyny at play.

the "too many x-men characters in marvel rivals" take is like, a surefire way to know someone is a larper because istg if you've touched the comics even ONCE you would know the x-men and x-related books make up like, literally 1/3 of the entire marvel universe in terms of books going on and just general popularity/relevance... like if we're REALLY going for only popular and relevant characters there would be way MORE x-men lmao

This a take I actually have but It's not me being an awful dick head it's just knowing how marvel /marvel studio works they're basically going to add more and more x men to things because of the mcu and it will be a cash grab effort and it will only drive people away from the fandom like how dc only ever prioritises batman and so basically people won't read or won't engage properly with any other comics.

Also....

There's so many awful fans who take over the fandom space and use this as an excuse to be rude knobheads, too many x men comic currently being pushed so basically no premonition nor care for any other ip, and worst of all as the resident inhumans fan I find it all very hypocritical of both fandom and company after what they did to the inhumans IP. (Jack Kirby deserves better that having his legacy at marvel shat on☹️)

Like yeah I would like the x men in rivals more if they actually pushed the lesser known/better x characters like glob or akihiro or even doop like ANY OTHER CHARACTERS than the same x men that get put in front every media they're in PLEASE. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Also we went from having lesser known marvel characters being pushed (how I discovered my favourite iron fist) to basically advertising for the mcu from here on out like yaaaaaawn I will never get Carol or Jack at this rate *cries*
