“I see that bloody coward didn’t come to the battle today,” Zarda growled, shifting more upright onto her horse’s back and stealing a glance at Dade, her lover.

Dade let out a humorless laugh and took off his helmet.

“I’m guessing he’s under her orders not to fight, my love.”

Zarda grunted as she and Dade nudged their horses into a trot and rested her rein-holding hands onto her horses neck.

“He sure does a lot for her,” she admitted, her teeth grinding together, “just like everyone else in her pathetic little kingdom.”

She pulled her horse to a stop and then gestured for Dade to do the same.

“We haven’t tried to attack their castle from the west side yet.”

Dade turned in his saddle to look at Zarda.

“Why don’t we try busting the castle gate down again, my Queen? Surely it must be weakened from the last time we tried.”
