It was the downward spiral into mustache-twirling buffoonery that did it. Early Dukat was a total asshole, but one that someone believably might have to learn to tolerate at work. The reluctant truce between him and Major Kira/ his relationship with Ziyal made it seem like he might have a real character arc coming. Instead, that cult leader plotline and pah wraith ridiculousness. No thanks.
