ohhhh shit. target is recalling their up & up baby wipes (fragrance free & fresh cucumber scented) because they're contaminated with Burkholderia cepacia complex and Burkholderia gladioli, multiple people are reporting discoloration & infections. i just got a call about it cuz i had purchased those but i've already gone through them 😅 so no refund for me. but im fine. if you have these they're saying you need to immediately stop using them and bring them back to target for a full refund. this bacteria can cause life threatening infections in children/infants and people with compromises immune systems (ESPECIALLY cystic fibrosis!!) and i know lots of other chronically ill people follow me!!!!

I recently saw an Entertainment Weekly article pop up in my Bluesky feed about the Anne Rice universe. I was curious what they had to say, even in a puff piece, so I took a look. Unfortunately, I quickly realized that a lot of the phrases sounded familiar. Very familiar. In fact, they sounded almost exactly like a few articles on the Vampire Chronicles Wiki.
Which I noticed, because I wrote them.
About a year ago I noticed that the Vampire Chronicles Wiki was really wonky, and so I started making edits to fix that. I'm now an admin, and I've made over a thousand edits. I wrote a bunch of articles that weren't there before, including several of the ones above. Like, I remember the process of writing some of these sentences. I remember choosing the phrasing.
Anyway.
I'm not the kind of person to go on a crusade against a guy who spat out an article for an assignment and didn't change the words of the wiki articles he ripped off enough to hide that that's what he did- but it does suck. It sucks to see work you did for the benefit of other fans ripped off by a major entertainment publication for a cheap article for a lot of reasons. That job could have gone to a fan of these books who could put these things in their own words, it could have cited the wiki as a source, the writer of the article could have had enough respect for this fandom to not do this.
Unfortunately, none of that happened. So, I'll make lemonade out of lemons instead:

The Vampire Chronicles Wiki is a resource by the fans, for the fans. I can't say it's perfect, but it's better every day. I put a lot of work into it, so did a lot of other people, and if you want to learn about Anne Rice's monsters, learn about them from people who love them.

why is lake superior so dangerous? i cant find anything online that will give my access (not american!)
it's the largest freshwater lake on the planet by surface area, you could lose a couple of smaller countries in there and not even notice. (vs Europe)
on top of that, it's a Northern lake, so the water never really gets warmer than 50 F (10 C) even in the heat of summer, and it's famous for sudden violent storms that destroy ships and buildings alike. this thing has a MASSIVE body count because it's also a major shipping thoroughfare.
She is also over 1,300ft/400m deep at her deepest. Once she has eaten you, she will not give you back. Lake Superior doesn't give up her dead.
And when Bunjy says "the largest by surface are" what that means is: Lake Superior is a whopping 31,700 square miles (82,103 square km) of water. The only reason she is not an inland sea is because she is freshwater.
She has tides. She has rip currents, like an ocean does. You don't even have to go out on a boat to get got by her, all you have to do is step into her icy waters in the wrong spot. She has ice formations that aren't "icebergs" on the technicality that they didn't calve from glaciers, even though they look and act the same.

Floored by the fact that not feeling like shit really does boil down to just eating well and drinking lots of water and keeping screen time to a minimum and making lists and not obsessing over any one thing and reading books and like not putting things off and letting them fester forever.
