Hey, guys! Thank you so much for your support and kind words. Everything is calmer now in Caracas. It seems Maduro was apprehended, but everything is extremely fishy. It all happened way too quickly. I don't believe for a second the official statements from neither the US nor our own government. My guess is Maduro made a deal and surrendered willingly, and he might've known this was going to happen for some time.
Currently, the vice-president, Delcy Rodriguez, and the minister of defense, Vladimir Padrino López, seem to be trying to seize power. So it's not over yet. People keep telling me things will calm down now that Maduro is out of the country, but I fear his supporters don't want to surrender. They are demanding for Maduro to be released and seem to be preparing for war. I doubt they have the weapons or manpower to actually stand up to the US, but I'm honestly not sure what will happen...

I lay awake tonight with a broken heart, thinking about all of this. It doesn't matter if they didn't treat me humanely, but my four children... Don't they have the right to live like all the children of the world? What is their fault?
I want to scream: We are human beings like you, made of flesh and blood. We have children, we have feelings, and we have a right to life. We have children who are terrified and afraid, and we have broken hearts.
We want to live. We don't want to die now. We have the right to live. Please, hear our cries. Please, we are people, we are human beings, we are a family. We are afraid, we are besieged, we are forbidden from traveling.
The danger, the war, the bombing, the threats, and the closure of the crossings into Gaza are still ongoing. We will never enjoy true peace. Today, Israel bombed Gaza heavily, and innocent people fell... It's as if war has returned.
Why are we treated here like we're in a closed pen? We are not given enough food, we are not allowed to leave, and we do not enjoy peace or quiet. We are tired... Our hearts are broken and shattered.

I don’t even know how to express both the relief and shame in seeing a ceasefire occur now, after all this death and suffering. It didn’t have to be this way. The genocide in Gaza has been practically live streamed for two years and still the world turned its back on the people there. This ceasefire is only the beginning of what will surely be a long fight for a free Palestine and the return of its people. We all need to have hope and, most importantly, do more.
We all know how much Israel disrespects ceasefire agreements. They continue to terrorize Lebanon and they’ll continue to terrorize Palestine. Now more than ever eyes need to be on Gaza. The people there still need help and support. As humans we must create a world where we help each other.

Perhaps it slips your mind that the crowds you see in this picture are not returning to anything. Our homes and streets no longer exist. Everything has turned into emptiness, rubble upon sand. All that remains are the photos we carry in our memories and a bit of love we’ve tucked deep inside our hearts, to nurture our children with, a love for the soil that knows our faces and our souls well.
