Likewise, though I predate VHS by… let’s just say quite a long time. 

I also remember that the thought of BUYING a film on VHS tape was seen as outlandish and hideously expensive. A bit of checking suggests that the first VHS tapes released for sale in the USA were The Sound of Music, Patton and M*A*S*H at a mere $50 to $70 each (and that’s in 1977 money)
