                        →  ❝ it had been a long year and nick was tired. more than tired––– just plain exhausted. every day while he was in prison he was looking over his shoulder, second-guessing the protection he paid for, tried his best not to jump at every shadow and feign confidence. and now? now he was free. not truly as he still had debts to pay off, still had to look over his shoulder. but free in the sense that he was no longer in confinement, hidden from the world. though the air was the same, the added freshness from the outside tore through his lungs. it was calming and upsetting at the same time. leaning against a metal bar, he debates who he should call to come get him. his mother and brother are no doubts reluctant to come after all he’s put them through. a deep sigh leaves his lips as he turns his head to survey the area––– something he regretted a second later. familiar features on a face staring at him froze nick’s entire being.
