update: the article they gave us to discuss about for the exam had literally NO connections to the pmos name change 😭 couldn’t even bs it into there :(

Coming back just to say congrats to the intersex community and specifically those with "pcos", it has been officially renamed to PMOS!! this is an amazing step in the right direction!!

Did you fill in the Monash survey about renaming PCOS? There's a new one to fill in!
Months ago, a team at Monash University sent out a survey proposing options for renaming PCOS. The current name is a misnomer (not everybody has polycystic ovaries).
Unfortunately a lot of their proposed options sucked (like adding "female" to the name ugh).
They have now sent out a NEW survey BY EMAIL to the people who filled in the previous survey. The new survey contains a bunch of new proposed names.
The url they send is unique to each respondent and there does not appear to be a public URL.
The deadline to fill in this NEW survey is January 31.
Some of the names proposed have me upset. They are pushing to add "gynecological" or "gyne" to the name. It feels like they remain VERY intent on gendering the new name.
Despite their own research finding that "spectrum" is more popular than "syndrome" among folks with PCOS, they have completely once again dropped "spectrum" from the available options. (Sigh.)
The new follow-up survey is short and contains some open-ended questions. I personally advocated for Polyendocrine Cardiometabolic Ovulatory Spectrum or Polyendocrine Complex Ovulatory Spectrum since it keeps the acronym the same while also adding the endocrine & metabolic keywords they seem intent on.

Hi! Yes, it is a chronic illness since it’s lifelong and affects is technically an illness. I also had a hard time calling it an chronic illness when I was first diagnosed, too, but YES you can call it a chronic illness and that’s what most people call it :)
