Hey can I just ask one question? What the Fuck is a plant?

i mean like, technically? a large kingdom of organisms that are descended from green algae and have cell walls. this means:

photosynthetic bacteria are not plants

photosynthetic microorganisms are not plants

fungi are not plants

lichens are not plants

non-photosynthesizing and parasitic plants are, indeed, plants

algae as a group may or may not be a plant. depends on who you talk to

there are absolutely exceptions to this definition but in true biological form there is (arguably) no single all-encompassing definition bc there will almost always an organism out there that will force us to redraw the lines. same with the concept of species and plenty of other things in bio
