eisleyvera:
&&. LUKE
she had never been so assertive and demanding in her life. if she took that tone with her master, god knew what might happen, but here? in this prison? this might be life or death for luke and eisley knew that she needed to do something. after all, she did promise him that night where she was tucked away in his arms beneath the light show among the stars. this was no time to reminisce about their romance… if that’s what it was. friendship, was a better word, though eisley couldn’t help but hold out hope that he would someday catch the tender way she looked into his eyes or those soft touches as she reached for his hand. maybe someday luke would catch on. but if he didn’t, eisley would still be happy to be able to know him at all.
but now, this guard was testing her. she felt like she had the upper hand and she hoped that her master wouldn’t be dragged into this, but it seemed like she would have her way… what a strange sensation, but she was more than grateful that all of her pent up anger aided her in this little show that she was able to put on. she held her breath as the man begrudgingly walked to the cell and threw luke out to the floor where eisley had instinctively tried to catch him. the girl looked up to the man with a glare - - though her head remained held high. she wanted to fight him… verbally, of course, but she would love to use that baton against the man as well for what he’s done to luke. still, it was best to leave it be and try to leave as soon as possible before anyone caught on to what was really happening.
eisley took a hold of luke and helped him stand before turning towards the door and leaving without another word to that guard. luke seemed like he was genuinely in pain and she was ready to take him back to his bunk, but he thankfully gave her that little wink and she felt some sense of minuscule comfort in that. she breathed a sigh of relief as the pair finally walked through the exit though she continued walking with him - - arm around his waist and her other hand holding his that was around her shoulder. ❝ are you hurt, luke? anything broken, i mean? i want to take a look at you once we get somewhere safe- ❞ the girl rambled, worried eyes looking up to the blond beside her with a tinge of tenderness behind that gaze too. he was okay… while she wished she could’ve gotten to him sooner, at least he was still here. ❝ we should get you somewhere a bit more private though. ❞
for a heartbeat, luke is worried that she’ll turn back to the guard, that she’ll get too angry and oversell herself, but thankfully, she allows him to lead her towards the door and out of the room, out of the building, a thousand eyes and watchful monitors tracking each step of the way. as soon as they’re far enough away that he’s certain no one can hear them, he leans even closer to eisley and whispers, “i’m really mostly fine, i’m not this badly damaged, i just had to make it seem like i’m weaker than i really am so they wouldn’t suspect me.”
they meander onto sidewalks and around buildings, people passing them without a glance, and gradually, luke leans off her, bringing his weight back to himself, yet still keeping his arm wrapped around her, moreso pulling her towards him. call him overprotective, but he’s not sure who might be following them, who might still be watching them. it’s a paranoia bred from the war, fostered inside his chest from a hundred runs under the rule of the empire. “i know where we can go, don’t worry. just follow my lead.” he doesn’t mention that it’s the resistance, just in case, but he hopes she can guess that’s where they’re heading... in a very long, roundabout route. “i promise i’m not trying to get you lost,” he tells her after they’ve been walking through alleyways and strange directions for nearly half an hour, luke glancing behind them every once in a while, his arm sliding off her, only to catch her hand in his. “i just want to make sure we’re not being trailed.”
finally, he brings her to a nondescript entrance, putting in several codes and passwords, and even though he trusts her with his life, his heart is still pounding inside his chest at this new breech of intimacy. he doesn’t know if she’s been to the resistance before, but she’s never been to where he’s taking her; his own private quarters, way in the back. it’s late so not many people are up, but those who are, recognize him immediately, a few of them commenting on how long he’s been absent for-- until they see his face. he manages to laugh them all off, keeping eisley’s hand firmly in his own, while he ushers her along. when they eventually reach his room, he shuts the door and leans back against it, sighing as he smiles at her. “home sweet home. it’s not much but there’s some tea in the corner if you’d like it.” now that he’s stopped, and safe, and not paranoid, his body reminds him of all those places he’s still bruised up in. “and the medkit is under the bed. would you mind pulling it out?”
