THE FAULTLESS SERIES ( WATTPAD ) science fiction / cyberpunk / futuristic / new world
‘ every human deserved their death ‘ at least that’s what they say. Our elders tell us that in one day the world came to its end. Us who are skeptical will say it was within a month. For centuries our ancestors called for the end of times. An apocalypse that would end everything mankind had lived for. Disease to violence to those who were trying to survive. The world was no longer bright from city lights in the night. The streets no longer had people who roamed. What the world didn’t know? …is there were survivors. Those who challenged the odds of humanity. Those who survived had formed a council of founders that would soon change the world forever. A small plot of land was not set into the future to grow. Its been past two centuries and Dilabor is the last country on earth. Not much has been told to us in our lessons on how they made a city later turned into a country out of scrap. Our silver walls whisper and the skeletons beneath the perfect green grass are finally surfacing, and the truth will claw its way upwards with them.

ria & kate
We were six the first time she pulled all the blankets off her bed, stacked them in a messy pile on the floor, and grinned at me. My eyes were puffy and red but she pushed back my hair with glittery nails and shrugged her narrow shoulders. "I think it's blanket fort time," she'd said as if we'd done it a thousand times. Her butterfly quilt took both of us to lift over the chairs and stacks of books she'd made in her usually tidy room, and I remember her blowing the hair off her red face with the biggest smile, her entire body sagging forward with exhaust after we'd secured it. Even then, there was something about her determination to generate light in someone's day that left me a little breathless.
I always thought I wanted to be like her, more caring, more passionate. Prettier, for sure. She hated it when I'd say that one though, she always fought me on it. When we were 13 she conceded in saying, "Okay, I might be nicer. You're kind of bitchy, so I guess you're right. But you're definitely prettier and that's that." I liked the way she whispered when she swore, like it was a secret we were both in on. Back then, it kind of was. I bet if she swore today she'd do it though, she did just yesterday after all.
Or like when she died her hair in the eighth grade and I begged my parents to let me do it too, both absolutely against it until she bought cheap wash out stuff at the CVS. We both ended up covered in red hair dye in her bathroom like a bad tampon commercial or war documentary, but we laughed so hard we were both in tears. Mom had to take me to the salon to get it fixed, and when I went over to our tree house connecting our two backyards that afternoon, she shook her head with a smile. "Of course it looks better on you. God."
It didn’t really occur to me that maybe she wanted to be more like me until we were fifteen and she wore blue nail polish just because I bought it and Connor N. complemented it in gym class. We sat on the floor of our treehouse and I painted her nails while she sang. She was always singing, practicing for some recital or something. She's always been in the advanced choir and as terrible as I am at singing, she always complains that I'm not in there with her. I'll never forget what she said when I blew on her nails to help them dry, my hair long that spring and whisping into my face so much I could barely see her brown eyes. "I'm so lucky we're friends, I don't know what I'd do without you. You're the coolest person I know." And her voice, god her voice rumbling over the words like a freight train.
In hindsight, I probably should have guessed that I was in love with her.

small writing exercises
make up an origin and meaning of a name
write a family history going back centuries
pick a character and make them ramble about their favorite thing
make up a fable, pretend it’s as famous as the Grimm fairytales. how does this fable affect the world and what would people reference from it? (i love this one because it can be as crazy and silly as you want)
make a commercial for something that really shouldn’t be sold at all. try to convince people to buy it.
ACRONYMS. but, like, try to have it make sense
make a poem about your story/something in your story
rewrite a classic but put your own twist on it

Writing is not always writing.
Writing is being on the train and mentally seeing your OCs stumble into other people, or flinching away from the germ-ridden handrails, or sleeping on each others’ shoulders.
Writing is hearing a song on the radio and watching one of your scenes play out to the lyrics.
Writing is laying on your floor or sitting by your computer and spending hours collaging newspaper clippings or pictures or people or plants together and making something that is completely, uniquely, your story.
Writing is drawing your characters in your notebooks, and making tea only your one, picky character would drink, and writing an open letter to all your characters just to remind them you love them.
Writing is moodboards, and playlists, and crafts, and asks, and prompts, and pictures, and memories, and you.
So never think that just because you’re not putting words on a page, you’re not a real writer. Writing is something that follows you everywhere, beyond the word document, and beyond the screen.
Because writing isn’t something you do. It’s something you are.

As it turns out I have almost no pastel books! I did my best to raid my collection for something as close as I could get.

flash fiction or novels, stand alone or series, high fantasy or urban fantasy, handwritten or typed, happy or sad endings, sci-fi or historical fiction, 1st or 3rd pov.
When you’re writing along and all of a sudden the character makes a decision that you’re pretty sure you didn’t authorize and yet somehow it’s happened:
Hush now, don’t speak. I can read your thoughts in your eyes, sense them in the way you hold my hand. I know what you want to say when you hold me tight and can’t seem to let me go. Sometimes we’re better off enjoying the silence, better off filling the space between the lines. Letting the unsaid things talk. We don’t have to give it a name as long as we both know that we’re in over our heads. Sometimes words simply aren’t needed. Not when I’m with you.

hello world
Writing is cathartic, it is the compelling compulsion to expose wounds and stitch them back together in the same stroke. For me, writing is connecting the dots of experience and imagination, it is the exploration of who I am, those I’ve known, and those I hope to know.
I have been writing fic for years, but have tucked my own writing away for My Eyes Only. This outlet here is my attempt to take my OC stuff more seriously and consider it content in the same way I consider my fic content for others.
I’m looking to join this community of writers, and am uncertain of where to start. I’ve always had fandoms to kickstart the journey, so this is all new. I’m excited to start taking chances and exploring writing for myself, though. Chat/connect/etc. with me please! I want to get my feet wet with the writing community on tumblr :)
