I’m sure other people have said it better but I honestly think some of the forreal, well-meaning “I’m burntout” people are feeling that way because they have white supremacist mindset of rugged individualism. What truly makes boycotts work are community care and collective action and a long-standing commitment. For example. The Montgomery bus boycott lasted more than a year due to careful organizing and supplying community alternatives like carpooling. We all have got to actually work with one another and build community with each other. And white supremacy operates to make us fearful of each other, shamed to ask for help, so focused on this grind mindset that we don’t rely on each other. Like 95% of the reasons/excuses I see people genuinely make for why boycotting even one company is impossible could be solved by us getting to know our neighbors, building networks and yes doing the work to tangibly care for each other

Had a really sharp pain on my right side all day yesterday, and it had me worried because I already had an appendectomy last year. So I went to urgent care and they told me I had to go to the ER because they thought I have gallstones 😭 so then we rushed to the ER and spent most of the night there only to discover (after an ultrasound and CATscan) I just have something called appendagitis. Which is just like a sack of fat in my large intestine got inflamed. And thankfully it’s not really anything to worry about, and I just have to wait it out…. So not for nothing now I’m just upset at myself for rushing to the hospital instead of waiting it out in the first place cause this bill is not in my budget. Which makes me even more mad cause this place is so fucked up that that’s what I’m worried about

Like, obviously (like all communities) Jewish New Yorkers have a vast diversity of opinions and actions that they’re taking, but it’s sooo obviously propaganda by these stations and newspapers to conflate antizionism with antisemitism and truly (I don’t use this word lightly) gaslight the everyday person who’s just tuning in really for traffic and weather into thinking it’s evil to support Palestinian liberation

They never cover the massive (thousands, if not tens of thousands attending) rallies and protests in support of Palestine, never ever comment on the diversity of groups and people represented. But then always show the one-off, like 20 people attended, thing happening in support of Israel. Or if they do show something in support of Palestine, they always do a “both sides” thing where they interview someone who’s like “I’m scared of the brown people beheading babies”

Like it’s wild and not only erasing the courageous acts of Jewish activists, it’s actively dangerous because it’s ignoring actual antisemitism (which does happen on the left too, that’s a very real concern) in order to fearmonger and distract from the ongoing genocide of Palestinians that’s been ongoing for 75+ years
