I’ve always sort of avoided drawing Loki in his myths, for various reasons, one of them being that my style is so different that I suppose I felt like it wouldn’t suit it. Also this particular one really sucks, but for some reason, I felt called to finally tackle it in my style. It’s my first Loki piece in quite a while (and actually I feel it turned into more of a Sigyn piece tbh) and I’m actually super proud of it.

Loki and his Children

the softest laugh

the warmest grin

sparkling eyes

hide the pain he’s been in

outstretched arms

mischievous heart

trickster god to the bone

Loki loves his children

Fenrir chained

Hel bound to her kingdom

Jormangdr tossed away

and he longs to be with them

but the gods decreed-

the children are monsters

only Loki sees

their tears

hears echoes of their laughter

Loki loves his children

he reaches the lost

whispers to the hopeless

lifts up the forgotten

gives strength to the broken

the outcasts, the misfits,

the marginalized, the in-between

he finds them, guides them

makes them seen

Loki loves his children

hunted down by the gods

for confessions over supper

he’s been punished before

but Odin wants him to suffer

being bound to a rock

facing snake’s venom, bad as it was

was nothing compared to knowing

he was bound in the bowels

of his son

he’ll break free

in the end

burn the world

just for them

for Loki loves his children
