Two days ago this was just Luke playing with his toy airplane that it was probably given to him by his uncle or aunt. Two days ago I would see this scene and I would have thought “That’s a nice cute scene. Luke likes airplanes like Anakin did”.

But from now on I will know that this was a gift from Obi-Wan and it just has a whole new meaning. Now I will watch this scene knowing that Obi-Wan worked really hard, probably for weeks to be able to afford this. Obi-Wan would watch Luke play with this and he would be reminded how much Luke is Anakin’s son. Then he will be reminded of all the times he flew with Anakin and what a great pilot he was.

Yeah thank you Disney. Because all I wanted was one more Star Wars scene to make me cry like I didn’t have 1582 already 🙄😒

Marcia isn’t just “George Lucas’ ex-wife.” She’s the one who edited the original movie into a coherent narrative that actually made sense both logically and emotionally, and went on to win well-deserved awards for movie editing at a time when women in the industry were even more looked-down-upon than they are now. Whether you agree with her opinion or not, she has MORE than earned the right to speak it. (Also, she’s right.)

Production of the first Star Wars film was so disorganized and such a mess, that the finished product was incoherent nonsense. Marcia’s editing [quite literally] saved A New Hope, & ultimately the entire Star Wars franchise. She absolutely has a say in what is subjectively ‘good’ or ‘bad’ within the Universe she saved.
