Ronnie Scotts || Lara & Michelle
Handing over a crisp note to the waiter whilst grinning at Lara’s words, “well that certainly sounds like a fair deal” voice still soft whilst the wait was milling around. “Ah if you think it’s nice now just wait ‘til London Jazz Festival, they have like new bands every half-hour and hold the most amazing street parties” grinning broadly remembering the past few years parties, always preferring them to the soulless ones she ended up at in the states. She smiled at Lara’s answer, even though she was unsure if it was entirely sure she had never been the kind of person to push someone into talking about something they didn’t want to, preferring to keep things light when she could.
Smiling and nodding her head before taking a sip of her obnoxiously green and sweet drink, certainly her sweet tooth had been getting worse since heading off to India a few weeks earlier. “Well I’m glad to hear things are alright with you – especially seeing as you just moved here, I certainly wasn’t as composed as you were” pulling a face as she remembered just how scruffy she’d looked for weeks after heading back for LA.
“Oh thank-you and it’s fine you probably had far more important things to think about ” she beamed at the women opposite her. “I certainly am, I’ve not really got nothing to complain about apart from a diet for a new film and even then I don’t mind it too much” smiling as she clasped her hands together. “what about you, have you got any projects coming up or are just going to enjoy London a bit first?” Eyebrows raised curiously, always loving hearing about her friends upcoming work. “It certainly is” a satisfied tone in her voice as she spied her glass, “I’ve been looking one for as good as this all over the place but it can’t be beat.”
Grinning, Lara nodded in response to Michelle's words. "Yes, we'll definitely have to go to that. Sounds brilliant." She leaned back in her chair and took her glass of white wine into her hand, swirling it around a bit. It was nice to hear that she seemed composed. She was doing her job well then. In a way, she was composed really. Not so much as her unstable emotional state but Lara was sure it would get better. It had to. She couldn't keep feeling these things.
"Well, I think I belong in London right now. That's probably why it's so easy for me to adjust, plus I'll be going to see my family soon and I have my wonderful friends here for my birthday, so all's pretty good." She smiled and took a sip of her drink. She made her face scrunched up a little with Michelle's next statement. "Ugh, what diet do they have you on? I hope it's not one of those horrible all-liquid diets. I had to go on one once and it was torture." she laughed. "I have offerings for roles. I'm currently conflicted about whether or not I should take them." A West End show, a new movie, and potentially a main character role in a television series. She thought about how much time each of them would take, especially the television gig since for that, she'd be in it for the long haul like with Da Vinci's Demons that was going on it's 5th series soon and would be calling her back to join the main ensemble cast.
It was a lot to think about and she would have to turn down at least one of them. She was in the process of really trying to put her personal life above her career, maybe find a nice man, start a family. Hopefully. It was what she really wanted and she wasn't sure anymore if she could have that with her career always being put first and the center of her life. It couldn't be the main focus anymore. There needed to be a balance.
"Really, I'm hoping to settle down. It would be nice." She smiled a tiny bit. "So, how's your jet-lag, any better?"
