God this is amazing. For those who are not familiar with tarot symbolism:
Will as The Hanged Man and The Tower
The Hanged Man represents a moment of stillness that precedes change. One must stop to analyze where they are, let go of some things, open themselves to new perspectives, on order to understand their next step.
The Tower is probably the most feared card for those who know their meaning. A lightning steokesthe top of the tower, wich falls to the ground, it representing someone going through inevitable change — difficult and painful change. Your perceptions and beliefs will crumble. You’ll have to let fo of the past, accept the pain, give up your happiness for a while. The Tower invites us to not fight against this. A clean ground is necessary for you to plant new roots.
I don’t think it need explaining how those represent Will’s becoming perfectly.
This card is not literal, the death in question is metaphorical. It’s the card of change and rebirth — killing your past self to create a new one. Just like Dolarhyde accepting the Dragon as his rebirth and tried to “kill” his ties with the past (burning his family house and cutting ties with Reba).
It represent a situation where a choice has to be made but in order to find the solution, patience and calm is needed. Margot viscerally felt the urge to kill Mason, but she knew it was necessary to be patient and play his game until she could sort out the heir situation.
The Devil represents human desires, especially for the material and desires of the flesh. It also points to vice, obsession and melancholy. Again, pretty straightforward. Hannibal is hedonistic, always prioritizing his amusement, surrounding himself with fine things. But at the same time he’s obsessive and melancholic.
And finally, Molly as The Star
The Star is about regained faith, optimism and hope for the future. It represents how Will tries to build a new, sweet and calm life with her, seeing her as this opportunity for something new.
As a tarot reader this made me so happy!
