âThanks,â Eliza sniffed, and cracked a weak smile. Her voice sounded abused and congested and pathetic, but she could have this at least. Out there she would be friend and something like a pseudo-mother, at least to the orphans and her students. Outside, she was strong - she had to be. But at home, with her sisters, she could let herself be babied. âLove you, Angie.â
She felt that in Angelicaâs presence, she would always be a young girl, bright eyed and eager and always falling down and ready to cry but always safe, always comforted. A pause, and a still slightly wet chuckle. âBut I think I should stop you from becoming the next great New York serial killer. Imagine the headlines.âÂ
Angelica could probably get away with it, though. Angelica was - brilliant. Sheâd been half convinced Angelica was a superhero up till the right old age of thirteen.
âYes, please. Do we still have that carton of the velvety chocolate, or did Peggy eat it all? I think Iâve literally been dreaming about that ice cream the entire week.â Eliza snuggled into her sisterâs side, pulling her feet up to the couch. âI donât think I have any brain cells left for plotting murder though. Something mind-numbing would be great.â
âI love you too,â They had always stuck together, the three sisters who´s always had each other´s backs. Of course they didn´t have share the same opinion, but they had always been in each other´s corner, no matter what. And anyone who made her sister cry would have to deal with her.Â
Luckily there had not been boys whose asses she had to kick just yet, but she hated seeing Eliza cry, for whatever reason.Â
âI appreciate the sentiment,â She then grinned, âBut please. Nobody would EVER catch me.â Angie then added. âAnd don´t worry, I`ll be doing the plotting alone. You shouldn´t be involved. Less people knowing means less chances of me getting caught,â Angie winked and pressed a kiss to Eliza´s temple.
âPeggy did eat it all, but I already bought new ice cream,â she then laughed as she got up from the couch. âYou pick out a movie and I`ll get the ice cream, alright?â

âWhy would you have to turn up?â Wednesday asked, confused as to why she felt obligated to turn up. âYou would need ashen skin, not white, just drained of blood.â
âBecause that´s the curse of being born into one of New York´s most influential families,â She waved a hand at the other. âThe other one is for fun though, so I´ll enjoy turning up to that.â Angie´s lips curved into a smile. âThat´s a pretty good idea. Any other tips?â
wednesdayaddamshqâ:
âYou are attending two parties?â Wednesday asked, wondering why anyone would choose to go to multiple parties. âHow about a phantom?â she suggested.
âOf course,â Angie replied with a smile. âThere´s certain ones I have to show up at and certain ones that I want to attend,â She informed the other. âA phantom could be interesting. Maybe with a mask. Or I could paint myself a mask? What do you think?âÂ
thouscndwaysâ:
âlikeâŚâ she paused for a moment, thinking of her best puns. âyou could be a ceiling fan. but youâre actually dressed as someone who is a fan of ceilings. orâsomething more spookyâcuriosity killed the cat. where you can dress up like a cat, butâŚyouâre undead. do youâŚget it now?â
âThe ceiling fan costume would probably end up with too many questions. The undead cat, however...â Angie paused for a moment and nodded. âThat seems like a good idea. Thanks for the tip. Are you looking for a costume as well?â

HUES FIXATED OPEN, LISTENING TO the query of the other with heightened breath, hardly sure on how to proceed. more than used to being lonely in her life, the overwhelming nature of being in public still startled her on occasion- have courage, be brave- she always said to herself, she could rustle up strength when she needed it, though it could take a few moments to arise at times. âthatâs a high number of themâ she frankly commented at the first moment, unsure of what to next speak, sheâd never even selected her own costume till today, when sheâd finally decided to find one, nervously thrilled at the notion of halloween, though darker times were not her favourite. âi mean, are you looking for a scary costume? perhaps a revealing one- maybe you should ask someone who works hereâ going on the basis of the vague knowledge of the event sheâd learnt since running away, she tried to think.
Angie gave the other a once over, noticing that she didn´t really seem to be comfortable being there. Still, she decided to keep the conversation going, maybe it would help ease the other´s anxiety. Or maybe it wouldn´t. But it was certainly worth a try. âWell that depends,â She then told her. âI´d much rather ask the opinions of the public though. People who work here are intend on selling me a costume, whether it fits my needs or not. So here I am, asking random people,â She smiled. âI´m looking for something extra ordinary. Not something everyone else would be having,â
thouscndwaysâ:
âuhm,â emelie started, a little nervously, trying to not let her shyness get the best of her. âyou could be something funny. like a pun. or if thatâs not your styleâŚyouâre really pretty enough to be a princess, or something.â
Angie offered the girl a smile. âWell that´s really sweet of you. I have been princess Tiana last year,â She then grinned. âA pun? That is an interesting idea. And only cool people would recognize it.â Angie nodded. âHow would I dress up as a pun though?â
~OPEN
âAlright.â Angie stopped and turned around to get a general overview of the store. âI have been invited to about 4 different Halloween parties, of which I will be attending at least two. So I need some costumes. Any ideas?â

âOh - itâs - itâs nothing, really.â Hastily her hands went to her face and she wiped at her eyes in quick, harsh motions, squeezing them shut. âIâm just - Iâm just being silly.â
She hadnât thought to be discovered. It was a long day - a long week, really. The first half of the week was spent making sure her studentsâ recital would go well, and it still ended up full of technical difficulties anyway. The other half of her time had been spent doing meetings with some truly harrowing potential parents at the orphanage she volunteered at. All of which, an unprecedented rate, had ended in disappointed tears for the children. On top of that, of course, because she hadnât had time to practice, sheâd barely scraped by her own theory exams.
It was one of those weeks when it felt like she simply couldnât do anything right - a feeling she hated, not being enough - and getting discovered by her sister while crying about it seemed like one more thing gone wrong. Angelica was going to worry, and Eliza never wanted Angelica to worry too much.
âYou donât have to kill anyone,â She tried her best to smile, âUnless you can kill everyone who says theyâll take any age on the paperwork and then decides that a child is too old to âintegrate into a new familyâ when theyâre face to face with a twelve-year-old.â
Eliza was going A LOT. Probably more than was good for her, but she had a kind heart and was a good soul and Angie was proud of her. Even if there were days when things seemed to just be too much. âPlease, you´re never being silly,â She spoke softly, shaking her head. She hated seeing her sister like this. Whoever had caused her such pain deserved a slap in the face. Or forced to stand in Times Square for an entire day during the weekend. Which was probably worse.
âI can DEFINITELY kill all those people.â She then found herself saying, offering her sister a serious face. âIt might just take a little planning.â The truth was: She´d do anything for Eliza, even if it involved things that she´d go to jail for.
Angie wrapped an arm around her sister a little tighter, shaking her head. âI´m sorry people are being ASSHOLES. I know how hard it is to find families for all the kids, but you´re doing so great. Don´t let these idiotic people let you forget that,â
She leaned in to press a kiss to Eliza´s temple. âShould I get us some ice cream? We can watch a movie if you want. Before I get on planning to murder all those people,â She then added with a wink.
rapscallicnsâ:
âAnd, um, exactly what do you do, then?â Was that what people usually talked about on a blind date? He was genuinely curious, though. What did Angelica Skylar do, aside from the public appearances and the charity events? Whatever it was, it had never been more clear to him the woman that sat across him was - formidable.Â
Sheâd ordered for them - which, to be honest, he was fine with. As his father had grown more and more ill, he had become more and more repulsed by having to make decisions, each one with increasing weight. Perhaps it was why he was here now - not entirely against his will, but not entirely by choice either. âAh - yes. Andrei means well, I know.â Andrei always meant well, though he was not always on the mark. âOur friends are in agreement, then, on both subjects. I have apparently been spending more time with books than strictly healthy. Though - I suppose the meal is as good a reason as any.â
Angie put the menu aside and gave him a smile. âOh, I am a life coach. People come to me to have their life organized or to get a boost of confidence.â She nodded. âIt´s something I´ve always been good at so I figured I`d make it my job.â Which made sense. Due to her job she often met people who were unhappy with their own and Angie was glad that she had picked something she enjoyed doing.
âAh well. Mine do think I work too much, they don´t see that I might not want to go on a date at all, no offense,â Angie shook her head. âBut I like to do what they want for me from time to time, so they stay quiet.â She chuckled. âBesides, I enjoy a good meal and a glass of wine.â When their drinks were brought she picked up hers and held it out. âWhat shall we toast to?â
rosebloodedsoulsâ:
âSOMEONE SUGGESTED TO ME RECENTLY, that i should give tinder a tryâ katerina spoke aloud to no figure in particular, her voice verging on confident, displaying the thoughts of her mind open to the world. sheâd tried searching the app up only to be greeted with disappointment, there was nothing sincere in the concept. and, as she told herself, she was on a break from men, a few bad experiences and a few tried matches by the elitist harrow family causing that current flood of thought to be concentrated in her mind. a dating app was far from what was needed in her mind, though once upon a time the girl may have let a flurry of laughter flow forward as she jokingly tried it, egged on by the other reckless youth of the slack boarding schools she had spent her teenage years in. âpersonally, i think iâll leave that idea be for now- itâs like modern day holbein portraits doing the matchingâ proud of herself for that reference, sheâd never spent much time concentrating in lessons, but sheâd stumbled on the concept of whole alliances being based of a essentially photoshopped version of someone via painting, and it was an intriguing thought, amusing to the young girl.
âGirl, no.â Angie couldn´t help herself but to reply to the other, shaking her head. âTinder is about the worst place to find a date. A casual hook up? Yes. Though I´ve had my fair share of disappointments there as well. So I´d say it´s a 10 percent you´ll actually get something good out of it.â She explained. âI would´t have used it, but I was required to test it out because I know some of my clients often turn to it in their times of...need. You can´t deny that it´s caused a hype, but I have rarely heard anything good about it. I once had this guy who asked: Want a date with a superhero? And at first I thought it was funny but when I showed up to the date he was there, sitting at the table in an actual superhero costume. And a pretty bad one as well. I´m surprised they let him in.â She resisted the urge to roll her eyes. âAnyways, who´d want to tell their children the story of how they met on a hook up app anyways?â

⣠= discovering them cryingÂ
The first emotion, naturally, was WORRY. Angie hated seeing her sister sad, whatever may be the reason, but the second emotion that was soon added to the mix was ANGER. Who dared to make her sister sad? She´d have no mercy upon whoever had hurt Eliza´s feelings. The girl was a ray of sunshine who lit up a room whenever she entered it and she didn´t deserve to be hurt.
âEliza.â Her voice was soft as she approached, knowing the other hadn´t thought she´d be discovered. There were little to no BOUNDARIES between the Skylar sisters, which was why Angie hadn´t thought to knock when she had come to see her sister.Â
They had KEYS to each other´s places and they used them frequently, but rarely had she ever come across her sister in such a state. Angie rushed to the other´s side, wrapping her arms around her sister in a loving embrace.

Monty didnât bother asking questions. All he knew was that his friend needed chocolates, and by god, he was going to get some for her.Â
The only problem was, it was raining so hard it was difficult to see more than five feet in front of his face. He could only hope he was on the right street when he thanked and paid his cab driver. He stepped onto the curb, only to realize he was on the wrong side of the street. He realized he mustâve looked somewhat odd to the strangers who could see him as he made a dramatic turn around to go the other way and cross the street (really, he blamed his long limbs.)
Finally, he made it to the store. Rain dripping off of his coat, he opened the door with extreme confidence that faded almost immediately.
âWell. This isnât the chocolate shop.â
Angie had been looking around for a nice red wine to bring home to her father for dinner. She had her own life now, but she made sure to get home for dinner at least once a week, usually Fridays, to catch up with everyone. Besides, she missed seeing her family every day, though she was glad to be standing on her own two feet.Â
She´d just been looking at a Bordeaux when the door was pulled open and a man, resembling a wet poodle, entered the shop. She couldn´t quite keep the grin off her face at his words.
âNo...no it´s not.â She then told him. âBut depending on the age of the person you´re wanting to buy something for, yourself included, you may as well find something that fits the occasion here.â She held up the bottle of Bordeaux.
ncrvouswrecksâ:
Cookies. That was⌠different. Not that she was expecting hostility, but compared to her sessions with Dr. Weisenbachfeld⌠Mendel⌠in the past, this was a change. Of course, Mendel was a psychologistâ no, psychiatristâ and was a bit different, but the people who often tried to help Trina get her life together were rarely this put together and friendly at the same time. Still, she shouldnât think to harsh on Mendel for doing his job the way he sees fit. He was quirky, but as she grew to think back on him, he was almost an endearing sort. Perhaps invasive, confusing, confounding, but he at least had a good heart to try.
Trina realized that maybe she shouldnât be thinking of her ex-psychiatrist at a meeting with a life coach. Very different. Wouldnât be sorting out her psychological trauma. This was to help her move forward. To help her be a better person, to compartmentalize the sections of her life, to organize her thoughts more than feelings. All in a more professional, surface way than going for the wounds in her brain.
She should probably acknowledge her. Angie. Angie. A perfectly suitable name. Not that any name should really be unsuitable. It was like an insult to names to assume anyoneâs name was invalid. Trina, focus, she thought to herself. âHello Angie,â Trina said, a bit of a reflex rather than a truly thoughtful response. Trina didnât see it as rude, but she quickly wanted to ammend her nervous, automatic tone. âItâs good to meet you, Angie.â Better. âYes, Trinaâs fine!â She added. Maybe her enthusiasm was false. Probably. Was she excited at the prospect of a new beginning to her chaotic life? Of course. But should she be this happy when her nervousness was really in control, probably not.
What would Trina say to this woman to talk about herself? When she thought about it, her first response, or at least second, was that she was Marvinâs ex-wife. Even when they were no longer married, she equated herself to a relationship to her ex-husband. She need to go back to therapy, she thought. But if she did, she couldnât really communicate with Mendel.
Pay attention, Trina. This is not about Mendel and not about the mess that youâve made of your sad life.Â
âIâm a secretary,â she said, treading carefully. No need to raise too much alarm yet. âI work an 8 to 5 job, but sometimes itâs 9 to 6 if I need to get some things done at home with either my son or a personal matter.â
She thought more. What should she say?
âIâm single? Iâm divorced, I mean. And I guess I should mention that Iâm a semi-single parent. My husband⌠ex-husband⌠and I shared custody. I guess I like to sketch at my desk when Iâm bored? And I like to sew patterns into cloth but not exactly like cross stitch. I go to Temple often, but not completely strict on it. Itâs hard sometimes with the busy life. And it can be hard to make it across the city after work if I work late.â
These were all fairly basic things. Nothing too deep. The clutter in her life on the surface. Nothing like carpet stains. Okay. She could do this.
âWhat else would you like to know?â
Angie knew how to read people. It was partly the reason she had chosen this job in the first place. And because she was good at organizing things. She had always been someone who went in head first and if people couldn´t handle her, or dragged her down, then they had no place in her life. She was someone who evolved, of course, but she wasn´t someone who could be changed. Not in her fundamental ways. And she didn´t want anyone in her life who felt like she needed to be changed.
But that was a topic for another day, today she was here to help someone who required her assistance and from the looks of it there was a lot to do. Which wasn´t necessarily a bad thing. Some people needed a complete make over of their lives, it was often people around their late thirties or even fourties who had just been through a divorce and needed someone to put their life in order. People her age usually needed some minor direction, that was all. Unless they were talking about the really hard cases.
She listened to Trina talk for a bit and wrote the things down. âAlright, that´s nice.â Angie then commented. âWell. Whatever you want to tell me, what you regard as important in your life.â She offered the other a warm smile. She wasn´t here to solve any deep psychological issues, but she needed to know just what was going on in Trina´s life to sort it out.Â
âHow old is your son? Do you have any hobbies other than sketching and sewing? How much time out of your day to you take for yourself? Do you think you could take more?â She turned the page of her notebook.Â
âDo you get along with your ex husband? Are you interested in dating at all again or are you enjoying your single life?â She´d try and get as many information about the older woman as possible so she could set up a plan that would help her get her life in order.
