Ty gagged slightly after pulling the now drain cat away from his mouth. He'd thought it would have tasted better than the rats he'd been feeding on. He had been eating... He had been wrong, the blood tasted damn near rancid, but it would sate the hunger for now.
Ty tossed the carcass away from himself before slumping against the wall. Sated probably wasn't the right word, the thing inside them was always hungry, and only the blood of humans would lessen the gnawing pull of hunger. It was fine though hunger was an old companion of his, it being for blood was a new development.
He suddenly skittered further into the shadows, desperately looking for a hiding spot. He could hear someone approaching. There wasn't anything other than the shadows to hide in, it would be enough to hide from a mortal... but anything else.

Ashley couldn't help but smile, it was a small thing, tired and timid. He took the data-slate from the Primarch with both hand. "I probably won't be much help. I have been told I have terrible taste." The last part was said with a bit of a chuckle. Ashley could feel his face fall slightly, the memories of the last meaningless conversations he had before... Ashley immediately set to distracting himself, beginning to read over the outline Fulgrim had handed him.
He took a moment to just skim the whole thing, pausing to look over the drawings briefly, then returned to the beginning. "Well I'm certainly enjoying the concept art. I do think it will take me quite a while to read through all of this though."
With a touch of preening, Fulgrim expands at the chest with his pesky ego. " Well, I'd argue that taste is subjective, " he tuts, " I am seeking a holistic human experience after all. Input has its weight regardless if at odds with another. "
Fulgrim might make show of how wide cast the preferences between Terran and Chemosian are, but opening such a vein will struggle to be stymied.
" Oh please, do take your time. Why don't we take it as a sign to break off into a corner and rest, meanwhile? " Compared to most, the Phoenician was oddly unhurried, almost indolent by standards. " What do you prefer? Teas, wines, confectionaries over full desserts? "
The Primarch kept mentioning the human experience, and Ashley was pretty sure he meant the mortal experience. He wasn't sure he met that criteria, in fact he was sure that he didn't. Though he wasn't sure how much that affected his perspective. Or if his immortality divorced him from humanity completely, it was a thought that had wormed its way into his brain a long time ago, and he had yet to manage to crush it.
He grew more uncomfortable the longer that he thought about it. He decided to not allow himself to linger on it. "I'm..." Ash tries to put on an almost boyish smile. "It's incredibly difficult for me to turn down wine, but I'm afraid I would embarrass myself far too quickly. I'm not too picky otherwise."
"The musical..." Ash paused for a moment trying to figure out the best way to describe it in this language, "accompaniment for different sorts of plays, the orchestra. Well sometimes it was the full orchestra, sometimes it was just a few of us. That was uh more of a hobby than a career though. I still practice often, it's one of the few things I never grow sick of."Music was one of the few things he could reliably find any relief in, it didn't always bring him joy per se, but it did always soothe him.
"That certainly sounds like an interesting premise, depending on how you go about it, I'm sure in a more... metaphorical sense a lot of people could see themselves in that sort of thing. Will it be a tragedy then?" Ash was eager to latch onto something that interested him enough to be distracting. He was desperate for the reprieve from the despair that constantly gripped its claws into every thought.
There was an agreeing nod as Fulgrim digested this newfound information, committing it to memory as he did. " Doesn't sound all too far on what I wish to do then. " If memory served him well in his assumptions.
An illuminating glee brightens his grin, amethyst irises near twinkling at the discussion of his art. " You see, that is precisely my quandary. I had wrote it with such intention to invoke a sense of . . . Inspiration in oneself, but I fear I've gotten far too ambitious. And, as you can see, I am left with this solemnly baked concept. "

Grier shot a glare at Alaric, but then further examined the holo map. He was silent as he considered, then when he came to a decision. He points out a spot, "There." He glanced towards Alaric waiting for his reaction, he was sure the old veteran would find some issue with the spot he hadn't noticed. Honestly he wasn't sure why he was going along with this at all, it wasn't like Alaric had any technical authority over him. It had also been far, far too long since he had last entered battle alongside another Astartes... that was probably what the draw was to him.
It wasn't his first choice, Alaric's hasty thoughts inwardly admit. Then again, dated Night Lord tactics hewn deep into the marrow of his bones, he couldn't help but prefer outer fringes bordering the heart.
" Why there? " he licks over his fangs, roughing his voice with semblance of life where previously it was all ghostly grit," eager for action? "
Anywhere was dangerous —— all to inconvenient for a pair like them. At least, for Grier, who was a strobe of saturation against the dreary platitudes of these depressing worlds. Alaric could adapt to the thinnest of shadows as it were innate to him, but what were a handful of soft-bellied humans to do upon his arrival, other than the news of it earning Ashley's scorn ?
Grier paused, he was surprised that Alaric was taking the suggestion seriously at all. He had of course chosen the best location he could see. It took him a few moments to formulate a response, as he had not expected the chance to explain himself. "We'll be close enough to get in quickly. Not giving them time to fully muster their defenses. This is just one of Ash's lesser... rivals..." Grier wasn't actually sure if that was a good way to describe the situation Ash had with this particular faction, but that was only because they were really no more than a minor annoyance to the Rogue Trader. "They will not have anything spectacular to throw at us once we are inside."
Ashley walked as fast as he could, not quite jogging. He was doing his best to pay attention, but his eyes kept lingering on the ostentatious gildings on the hallways. He was never comfortable in places like this, but what else could one expect from the powerful within an empire.
His attention snapped fully back to the Primarch, "You're writing a play?" That caught him off guard, and well was actually something he had interest in, though perhaps more accurately was adjacent to something he was interested in, "I used to be a part of a musical ensemble for a theater." Ash sort of mumbles awkwardly, "I... Would be happy to see what you have been working on. I cannot promise my perspective will be any kind of professional." He says far more clearly.
Encumbered by his own misery, Ashley seems to blossom from tear-soaked soil upon the suggestion. Pride grips Fulgrim, lacing his features with a beguiling joy, but he remains humble, even-toned, as he deliberates his quandary.
" An ensemble . . . " he thought little on it before speaking," I don't believe I am all too familiar on what that might be. Care to enlighten me? "
Either way, the data-pad rests over his splayed fingers, nail tapping and scratching lengthways up the screen as he scrolls towards his outline. This takes some time filing through passion inked in handwritten notes. " My brother considers it . . . " a roll of his wrist, retooling the crass language originally slated against him into something a touch more couth," avant garde — but ! I wanted to write about a population of mad people who cannot discern dream from reality. All except one, yet even he begins to question whether he does or not. "

He really wasn't looking forward to having to keep up with the giant, really it felt like he was standing next to a building, or perhaps a large statue, rather than a person. It was a little mind-boggling, but far less so than meeting Fulgirm's father. Ashley had to repress a shudder at the memory of that encounter.
Much to Ashley's luck ( or; dismay — perspective is key ), the Phoenician wasn't so obstinate in his resplendence to gait down the halls as he would with his brothers of approximate size. He travels at a laggard's pace ( for him ), matching the stride of his company.
" It would be customary to grant you a tour of my abode, however it would take far too long and I am none too interested in reciting the marvels of my residence, " he went on to say, passing through gold archways etched with striking eagles and distant Terran lands. " I do, however, have been wanting a human's perspective on something far more intimate to my musing soul. "
He thought to conjure his data-pad, but instead left it tucked away into his robes. " I've announced myself a playwright of a developing show and I do want to know if it has such effect as I want it to have. "

Melancholy gripped this Trader at the throat and dug its thumbs into the soft gel of his eyes. It was a pity, really, but Fulgrim was every bit as comely as a host ought to be. Casting light over the encumbering shade of the mood, he lessens his brilliance to match the fragility of his company.
Softly, he amends," no, it is never a bore to meet a fresh face. " Whatever administrations he had lined were promptly dashed to the wall, in its place a rousing of other negligible missives. " Come follow, I have something I wish to show you before he get to all the drivel. "

It wasn't by virtue of necessity that the Phoenician needed to wheel out of his routine for nugatory assessments such this. Bound by his enthusiasm for his role in the Imperium and a young man's natural curiosity for dealings pitted on the outset of battle, he is brought here to represent the Imperium in an eleemosynary gesture of kindness.
He is not without a symposium of handmaidens and serfs milling about his gold-plated heels —— at least only 4 at most. Expert in their serving craft, they vanish into his extending shadow as to not interrupt his glorious introduction.
" Good morning, " he greets with a smile of pearls and a stare which lances through @looking-for-lost-stars," pray I'm not too early. You see, I am just so eager today. "

Grier's hearts pounded rapidly in his chest, his eyes flicking to the blades. His mouth went dry, but he only allowed himself to swallow once Alaric had turned his attention away from him. His attention followed the other Astartes though his eyes moving to the map.
A low almost growl forms in the back of his throat at the insult, but he does as he's told anyways. "With what?" His voice sounded particularly petulant even to him.
Grier's fear nestled into the back of Alaric's throat. It lacked a certain simpering dread in place of what seemed to be ( pray he be mistaken ) palpable eagerness. He elects to ignore it, for the Alpha Legionaries' sake, as it won't only be his dignity that suffers the Night Lord's axing judgement.
" Imperceptive on top of it all, " he sneered with a disapproving shake of his helm, " Ashti'lka has a request needing to be fulfilled. I— " Alaric considers Grier for a moment," we will infiltrate this star system at the rim - of this planetary orbit. Pick a drop site. Inconspicuous, preferrably — if you know what that word means. "

Grier's hearts pounded rapidly in his chest, his eyes flicking to the blades. His mouth went dry, but he only allowed himself to swallow once Alaric had turned his attention away from him. His attention followed the other Astartes though his eyes moving to the map.
A low almost growl forms in the back of his throat at the insult, but he does as he's told anyways. "With what?" His voice sounded particularly petulant even to him.

Having seen Boe sniff the air and sneeze, Auro attempted to subtly check himself...did he stink? He shouldn't, he bathed yesterday...
Choosing to ignore what he saw, Auro reached up and grabbed a few handfuls of branches and sticks from the upper canopy and dropped them in front of Boe, sitting down cross legged afterwards.
"These should be dry enough."
For anyone that's not Auro, this was enough fuel and kindling to start a bonfire.
Boe stared at the fabric that had been tossed on them for a long while, then suddenly seemed to realize what it was for and began rubbing it on their face, to clean off the mess from eating. "Th-th-thank you, how l-l-long are you g-g-going to be in this area? I-I-I was probably g-g-going to move on s-s-soon, but I-I-I could st-st-stay longer too f-f-find them."
"I mean, I'm in no rush so...don't pressure yourself to find them or anything. It's fine."
Auro stretched and groaned, stretching so hard that the muscles within his arms twitched. He looked up at the sky, trying to figure out what the approximate time was. He hadn't had anything to eat in a while, and wanted to avoid sleeping hungry.
"Do you know what to look for?"
"I-I-I know w-w-what it smells l-l-like, and l-l-looks like. So I-I-I can f-f-find it." Boe stands up and brushes themself off. They look up to give an awkward smile, they were sure they could find this plant, it had a very notable scent after all. "No t-t-trouble I want s-s-some for m-m-myself too now."
