Okay, i have to yap about this, or I'll explode. Fives powers in season 4 dont make sense. Its not that they debuffed him or that the power isn't kinda cool (it is) but that the math isn't adding up. And as #1 timetravel enthusiast, i have to say something.
Reginald said that the new universe is reset/backup. Also the kugelblitz was taking out Everything with it, not just matter from the umbrella/sparrow timelines, it was absorbing everything from every timeline, till the last second.
So how was it that when Five and Lila went eastbound, they went to the original apocalypse?? That's a whole different universe. That doesnt exist anymore.
When Five first used the train, he went to a timeline where the town wasn't aggressive. Same universe + different choices = different timeline
It is not possible to go to a different universe because a) the kugelblitz took all other existing universes before that b) the train is going to other timelines, not other Universes timelines.
That makes his power multiversal + timeline travel. Not just timeline travel.
Just explaining his blinks here:
Normal space blinking/jumping is making a wormhole through two points on the same universe and same time. Very simple.
Common timetravel is moving forwards or backwards in time while also moving your position in that certain time.
Briefcase timetravel is moving forwards or backwards in time and changing your place. So it's timetravel + space blinking.
Timeline travel is moving right or left on the multiple timelines available. You are at the same exact time, same universe, but different choices make different timelines.
Multiversal travel is traveling to a whole different universe where it could be the same time, and it may look the same (due to there being infinite universes), but you don't belong there.
So which is it??? The math isn't mathing, and I need answers.
Also, Lila said to timetravel normally back to 2006 to save Ben. First of all, how does he have his og powers back?? But sure, let's let that slide. But Five cannot do an Accurate Backwards timetravel portal. He can rewind back time a couple of seconds but a full portal for an event 13 years ago?? He couldn't timetravel accurately back one week in s1, and it resulted in them being separated in the 60s. But sure, Lila can copy his power as well, so they made it safely and accurately back to 2006.
Second of all, they went back to the og timeline (where marigold was released, since there are new powered ppl) but a different timeline, to where Reginald made a phoenix academy. That doesn't make sense??? We're back in the original universe but thats timeline number x?? Wherd the marigold come from this time? It just felt they wanted to add another academy for a shock factor.
Another thing!! the ending being they have to get back to the original Pure timeline without the brellies (sideye)
You spent a whole 4 seasons explaining how timetravel has side effects on the timeline, and you just end it with "there's one true timeline!!" It feels cheap. And just the idea of a pure timeline makes me icky.
Will explain the marigold durango stuff later but just had to rant about how stupidly they used timetravel in this fake season.
