A rough sigh escapes Vicki’s lips. She rubs her face, thumb lingering on her temple for a split second. He had a point -- that was what annoyed her most. But her being here and not trying to kill him currently should’ve spoken for her intentions, right? Well, maybe not. But, he was friends with Sam and Tara, she’d hoped that would at least give her the benefit of the doubt. “Look, I understand your apprehension and it’s smart but let’s save it for someone who’s actually suspicious, yeah?” Vicki keeps her distance, not wanting to make the boy more nervous than he clearly already is.

“I’ve been trying to reach them all day, I thought I’d try here.” She admits, casually glancing around their apartment as if it’d give hints to where her nieces currently were. She didn’t want them out there by themselves, not after what had happened at the bodega. But good luck with getting any info out of Chad if he was going to keep being so hostile. At least she wasn’t dealing with his twin -- that’d probably end up even worse for her.

The routine of the kitchen was so consistent and exacting and busy and hard and alive, and I lost track of time and he died. And he left me his restaurant. And over the last couple months I-I've been trying to fix it 'cause it was in rough shape, and I think it's very clear that me trying to fix the restaurant was me trying to fix whatever was happening with my brother. And I don't know, maybe fix the whole family because that restaurant, it has and it, it does mean a lot to people. It means a lot to me. I just don't know if it ever meant anything to him.
