Monster: Falls Asleep
Me:
Spoilers for Monster Hunter Wilds and Donkey Kong Bananza i guess.
I feel like there are people who don't quite understand the significance of beloved characters like Lagicarus and King K Rool returning after a decade or more of being M.I.A.
Nostalgia bait, Simply to keep a trademark, etc. Doesn't matter when it shows, even if only slightly enough to see the money signs, that the devs are listening.
I never understood the love for Lagi until I got to fight him myself in Wilds, and it wasn't until the under water segment that, as a wise man once said, I finally got it. I love his fight and he has become a "comfort monster" (Monster I hunt because it feels like a dance)
I was the same with K Rool. Fun to play in smash bros but not much else. Then Bananza happens and same thing. Hail to the King of the Kremlin Krew.
All that to say, don't give up hope for something you love because so long as you love it, it always has a chance to get that second chance. It may not stick the landing but it shows it can.
My favorite move a monster can have is a hip check and I wish more monsters had one because between Risebreak and Wilds it feels like most monsters can be trivialized by just hacking at the back ankles.
Now if only there was a monster who's infamous for having a hip check that hit you regardless of where you are attacking......
Monster Hunter Pokemon inspired logo icons!!! i had so much fun making these
God I want shiny versions of these.
So long as the bare essentials are met, do whatever you want with the money you've earned. In the past year alone I've gotten myself a proper desktop computer after years of using laptops alongside a 3D printer and enough Transformers and Digimon figures to make younger me the happiest kid on earth.
Money is ment to be spent so spend it.
Some hunters need to lean to keep their asses firmly planted on the ground after being smacked by a monster.
Fighting AT Uth Duna and Gog has helped me learn that calling my Uber or panic rolling during a monsters "attack chain" as I call it, is the fastest way to get carted.
Shout out to carting to the monsters most telegraphed attack. Looking at you Jin Dahaad.
Being a new gen hunter that started in risebreak is really funny because I'll see people bitching about the RNG of artisan/Gog weapons, or the seige fights like Gog, Jin or Zoh being interactive cutsceens and go.
"Isn't the carve vs capture debate founded on maximizing RNG rolls to get rare mats?" Before Wilds did away with capture and carve having different reward pools. Now its just a "How many seconds do I want to shave off of the hunt"
Also
"Isn't the whole draw of monster hunter 'here's a sharp stick go kill a god of nature' so the on rails hunts were kind of an eventually if they kept wanting to up the stakes in terms of pushing the limit of what a hunt is. 'This monster is a living refrigerator the size of an airship and has a move that requires cover to not be TPK'd. Have fun :)"
Like with most of the internet it could just be the vocal minority of world babies and veterans who, much like pretty much every other franchise i enjoy, have the "New = Bad" or the "if its not soulsbourn difficult its not worth doing" mentally.
Like pretty much all my other video game posts I'm exaggerating heavily but like...
At what point do you just acknowledge that this thing, what ever it may be, is no longer for you. And let the new blood get what enjoyment out of the dystopia hell we live in currently that they can without telling that new blood to jump off a cliff cause they are enjoying something you don't that isn't a debate of morals.
Someone saying "I like killing people" is bad but somebody saying "I like fighting Gog in Wilds" is just an opinion. If you don't agree then just keep yor mouth shut unless your willing to have a proper conversation about why.
It's why I refuse to touch World because it feels like people only have praise for it, and that praise for me boils down to it looks pretty with the proper hardware and the tracking mechanic. Anytime I see talk of the gameplay its just "monster hunter with a gimmick no one asked for" which can describe all three new gen games so far. I like the pack animals, claw, silkbugs and wounds but like can we be more original with our complaints?
It's the same "This is bad" "Why?" "Because it is" or my favorite "It's not the same as what I remember growing up with"
It's okay not like how a franchise you grew up with is being handled, my heart goes out to Destiny players, but sometimes those changes may bring in the fresh blood the franchise needs to get that second wind. World did it for monster hunter why can't Rise or Wilds?
To the hunters who bring flashbombs and such. Bless you.
Just stop trying to flash Gore, poor bastard is blind and won't notice.
If you use it while I'm on the monster opening wounds.
Dishonor on you, Dishonor on your Palico, Dishonor on your Chicken...
Rise was my first Monster Hunter game with Wilds being my second and I've already seen myself improve at understanding the core gameplay and it makes me excited for future games and expansions.
In just two games I've gone from a very defensive hunter who only engaged when I absolutely knew I was safe to being very confident in my ability to recover from a hit should I get a little to greedy with Savage Axe mode.
I can perfect guard now, though not consistently or often
The skill system still makes my brain hurt but I'm starting to get a feel for what skills to look for and what I like to run. Divine Blessing and Ear plugs my beloved.
My only real grips are with Gore and my only experiences with him between both games being on small, tight parts of the maps he spawns in.
And the ever increasing system requirements in the pursuit of ever increasing graphical details that horribly unoptimised.
I shouldn't need 16gb of Vram to play the funny Smack the Giant Monster till it Dies Game™️
I'm exaggerating Wilds runs perfectly fine on just 6 gigs after using the Nvidia app to auto optimize the game and all my settings default to high at minimum.
But that's more just an issue I have with modern gaming as a whole.
In light of the ending of EP.8.

Havn't touched Blender in a while so i figured that i'm gonna spend at least 2 hours in it everyday. Here is todays result.
I feel like it's been 2 generations in a row now where I've looked at the new Starter Pokemon and thought "hmm clearly I'm not the target audience for this one. or this one. or-OH MY GOD I WOULD DIE FOR YOU"
Very similar experience.
Gen 8
Scorbunny my son, you kick that fire ball at the opponents face.
Gen 9
Fuecoco you eat that roasted fruit you didn't mean to burn.
Also him and Pombon share the braincell.
Jupitermon
I forgot the title I had in mind for this..
Mild Time Stranger spoilers below
Before Time Stranger i never batted an eye at the Olympus XII as they never hooked me as badly as the Royal Knights did growing up.
But Jupitermon has made a very strong impression given he doesn't have nearly the screen time as the others. That's not a bad thing btw.
With each new 3D pokemon game, be it mainline or spin off, the more it feels like the only people complaining are the ones not ready to acknowledge that maybe its time to move on to something else.
Now the 3D era games aren't perfect and definitely could have been done much better, but you can't tell me you fell in love with [Insert introductory Generation] just because it looked good for the time and hardware.
I started back in Gen 5, you know the "Game Freak ran out of ideas/Are just using fakemon" generation, and while I do love that Gen its not my fave, the legend games have that honor.
I'm glad random encounters are gone as it just made the game feel like a slog, and while drawn out tutorials and unfinished textures are not a good trade, I'll take them over running into Zubat #8245. Yes max repels exist but that's just a waste of money over healing items and pokeballs.
Touching on difficulty, this franchise is/was marketed to children. Cynthia is not hard i beat her on my second or third try abusing type match ups. Why are we trying to add Challenge mode to every game when the average player won't bother touching it?
Champions release is around the corner, if you want a challenge go battle other players. That's partly why multiplayer exists, the other is trading which is a dated mechanic as the whole two versions of the same game is a byproduct of tech limits that the switch proves are no longer an issue.
Speaking of tech. If you must interact with this franchise while understandably no longer wishing to give Nintendo and associated parties money. Go play one of the many amazing fan projects like Pokerouge. You don't need the Nintendo seal of approval to enjoy their IPs. Just remember that the more popular and wide spread something gets the higher chance Nintendo will issue a DMCA.
Also friendly reminder that the transition to 3D, across all media, is in and of itself a cost cutting measure to reduce labor cost.
Fun Fact! Every starter pokemon except turtwig, bulbasaur and poplio has at least one stage that stands on two legs.
The chances of Pombon staying on all fours is very slim.
Listen, Examon, I love you, but do you have to fly out of orbit and nuke a small country when you attack?
Bold of you to question the Dragon Digimon who's so big in some depictions that even the most advanced computers we have can't render him properly.
Headcannon is that he is targeting Leviamon every time.
