In the version of MCD that exists in my head, Aphmau, Garroth, and Laurance are the reincarnations of Irene, Esmund, and Shad respectively. The reason for this is because I A. Don’t like Aaron and B. They are both messy love triangle polycules. As for Enki, Menphia, and Kul’zak, I’m thinking maybe Travis, Lucinda, and potentially Aaron???
One day, Shad returned to the celestial canon, where he found out the truth about what Irene had done to create the relics. Instead of tell Esmund the truth and have him never forgive her, she convinced him that Shad had to be stopped. Together, they broke his relic into pieces and trapped part of his soul in the nether. Esmund, fearing what Irene’s growing apathy was doing to her, approached Menphia (who was the first witch in my mind, mostly bc I feel she’s connected to Lucinda) to begin the reincarnation cycle, sacrificing all of their lives to begin the cycle anew. Because Shad broke into three, the Shadow Lord and Laurance become separate parts of him.
