A Sigyn Appreciation Week was held 6 years ago here on Tumblr started by @victorybringer-archive-blog-blog and I’ve decided to bring it back. However, I’m changing some things up a little. 

SIGYN APPRECIATION WEEK is a week here on Tumblr to help show support and love for an underappreicated Goddess and ignored character. There isn’t much on Sigyn in the Mythologies and she’s definetly in need of a reboot in the Marvel Comics and an appearance in the MCU. This week is all about the Sigyn Fandom showing their love for her in all her different forms (Marvel Comics, MCU, Mythology, etc.) 

Feel free to celebrate the choices however you like! With a simple text post, or a link, or even a graphic for each day!

People who think Loki is "ooc" for having fun and being mischievous, let me remind you, this is what he was like before he found out he was adopted. Remember that deleted scene that y'all cry over because it wasn't included? The one where he's mischievous and soft? Yeah. He's been through hell after that and now he's finally free from the clutches of Thanos, and he's finally come to terms with his own identity and his future. This is 100% something I would see as being in context and VERY accurate for a man who's had his first taste of freedom after a year of unspeakable tortures.

Loki being a mischievous scamp and Loki being a tragic figure who never really fit anywhere and was thus pushed aside in favour of Thor... can and should co-exist.

Loki knowing how to have fun the Asgardian way (because that's where he was brought up) and Loki calling out the Asgardians on their bullshit... can and should co-exist.

Loki being a badass sorcerer and equal parts chaotic, nihilistic dumbass disaster... can and should co-exist.

Loki having several mental breakdowns in a row and Loki laughing at the slightest amusing thing he encounters... can and should co-exist.

Loki being arrogant and Loki being pragmatic and adaptable... can and should co-exist.

Loki ruining the other variant's plans because of his own nihilism and hopelessness and Loki finding solutions to resolve it... can and should co-exist. (I might add, this is a theme taken from the Norse Loki himself. It checks out.)

Loki being an adorable singing, dancing drunk and Loki being hot af when he lifted that building with his power... co-exists!

Loki being concerned and protective about other people overtly and Loki pretending not care about others is something the fanfics have been portraying for long. The former is the truth while the latter is a facade to mask his own intent. Masking his true self was what he had been doing in 2012 on Earth. He was pretending, acting the villain because, as himself admitted, he had to. There are multiple reasons for it. But now, those reasons are gone, and so is Loki's facade.

Compartmentalizing his own pain and issues while trying to just manage to stay alive is what Loki does. This is a theme with him. It's most obvious in the series because we see it all from his perspective now, for the first time.

I'm once again asking you to understand that Loki contains multitudes, and many of those multitudes are contradictory and complicated.

We’re only finding out recently that a lot of animals have colors and patterns that we cannot see because they’re outside of our visual range. It calls to attention how much of the world we can’t experience because our senses are limited. When we shine UV lights on them, they glow pink or blue, but these are the colors that we CAN see…. they could be a bunch of different colors, which we SEE as all pink. It’s also interesting to consider that most of these animals are not aware of having glowing patches on their bodies…. isn’t it also possible that we have skin or hair patterns that were not aware of? . . (There is actually some research out there to support the idea that our own skin fluoresces as well and that there are gender differences in the pattern and glow.) Humans do have invisible stripes!  They’re called Blaschko’s Lines, formed as  skin cells divide at the embryonic stage.  Normally we can’t see them at all, though certain skin conditions follow those same lines. 

Apparently this is roughly what we’d look like, if our eyes could see in a different spectrum:

Dunno about you, but I want to use this in a story someday.  Aliens can see our stripes and we can’t!  Magical transformations follow Blaschko’s Lines!  A subtle sign of lycanthropy is darker hair there!  Wizards are bald with that cool spiral on their heads!

Speculative fiction is so much more fun when you can speculate about something strange but true.
