A U.S. District Court judge in Seattle has granted a temporary restraining order against Trump’s executive order blocking refugees and travelers from seven majority-Muslim countries.

The Guardian reported that the block, effective nationwide, was issued by Seattle-based U.S. District Judge James Robart, who was acting in response to lawsuits brought by Washington state and Minnesota.

Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson filed the lawsuit Monday, calling Trump’s order “illegal.” Read more

Do not wear contact lenses if you are in a situation where you may be tear-gassed.  When I went through basic training, we were warned that there was a possibility the tear gas they were using could melt contact lenses.

trouble breathing due to tear gas can cause a crisis if you have sickle cell anemia. I know this because Bahrain, which had protests, had several deaths and hospitalizations due to this. Here are some tips on how to further use your voices about the election results and hopefully make a change. 

Also, calling your elected officials isn’t as scary as you think. I used to train people on how to do this, and I’ve called my officials a number of times.

You will be talking to a low-level staffer (possibly an intern) who has zero time to debate with you. You say, “Hi, my name is So-and-So and I’m a voter living in (city in their district), and I’d like to ask Rep/Sen So-and-So to vote Yes/No on [Bill number].” If you want, you can add a sentence of why. The person answering the phone will thank you for your call, and add your opinion to a tally sheet. Then you hang up.

As the person above notes, phone calls count for So Much More than letters or emails or online petitions. Want to make your voice heard? Call. Call with a specific opinion on a specific bill number. Keep it short & sweet. Write yourself a script ahead of time if it helps.
