do not get me wrong i’m obsessed with the rpf lestappen implications of ‘i know max’ with that grin on his face
but the irl ‘we are two drivers who’ve been racing together most of our lives’ implications of charles hearing max’s extreme statement on these regs and just being so amused and so used to the way that the media spins things that max unhelpfully dooms he’s just basically cracking the fuck up. ‘i know max’ from charles in this moment is also giving ‘and fuck you, shouldn’t the rest of you know max too? haven’t you been paying attention? isn’t this your job? don’t you know what he’s like?’
it’s like that one friend who in some ways just hasn’t changed and will never change. and over the years having a little constancy like that becomes so damn comforting. and his entire job revolves around people being surprised, astounded, outraged when max does the exacttt thing everyone should know to expect he’ll do.
