I wanted to answer one of my questions in a previous post: “Do you think social platforms should be able to censor political posts?” A lot of people are annoyed with the fact that social media has become such a political landscape, and instead of seeing people debate all the time, they want it to return back to sharing fun and happy posts. I definitely get it, however, I don’t think social media should censor political posts unless it’s hurtful, considered a threat, or anywhere along the lines of cyber bullying. I think a lot of social media’s purpose is to be able to share our opinion and bring attention to causes and conflicts we need to be aware about. Having a voice in today’s world is incredibly powerful and we need to reserve that. There is a line, however, in posting hateful propaganda, than simply posting who we’re voting for in the next election.
