Winslow and Tamara were homeschooled but since Beverly was actually a scientist it went relatively well for them. Not having friends from school, some effort was made to organize playgroups so they wouldn't be undersocialized. When Tamara started to get into stagecraft Winslow ended up hanging with a lot of theater kids to keep up, but he's not an acting kinda guy so he ended up on props sets and costumes a lot which is where he honed his skills in sculpture and textile arts.

When they grew up, there was a bit of a schism in the old friend group between the kids who pivoted to other interests and the kids who became a more formal theater troupe. Winslow's best friend Sundew ended up taking off with the troupe and moving to California to try and get into Hollywood. He was going to meet her in LA coming back from Sydney and tour up the coast with everyone to meet his Portland friends Will and Serenity and throw a big reunion show. (Which still actually happened, it just became the Winslow Evans Memorial Festival, sponsored by Green Bean's Green Earth Coffee)

Serenity Groves, she/they, aspiring novelist with a day job at the park, coffeeshop regular who became a closer friend when Winslow solved a problematic ex for her

Sundew Mercator, she/her, ex-best-friend from childhood playgroup. Still cool but moved to Cali and took most of the old troupe with her. Trying to get into Hollywood.

These are Winslow's primary friends, he has a much larger social circle of pleasant acquaintances but they tend to orbit around these guys.
