I feel like Claire would try to reach out to Harbor about what to expect with a new baby and it would go Badly because Harbor does not have to imagine what it would be like to fight for an infant's life with no resources or experience but he also cant relate to the pregnancy thing at all so he's both very unhelpful and the most practical and well meant advice he does have comes off as miserable doomerism instead of radical gratitude.

Since Harbor boarded Oceanic 815 under a fake ID and it isn't traceable to whoever he used to be the Others don't have a complete file on him which raises all kinds of alarms but since he has a baby and they're trying to scope the kids out anyways Ethan investigates him too but Harbor just doesn't have much to say.

Harbor doesn't go in for the fate/destiny thing like Locke does but he is even more laser focused on the idea that they might belong here because it honestly isnt about him anymore. If his "purpose" was just to get the baby on the plane and then die here he would consider it Correct as long as Ellie got to stay and survive.

Harbor also moves to the caves ASAP because he is not at all concerned with "rescue" and very much concerned with adapting to Island life as fast as possible so he can teach Harry when they grow up.

#oc: harbor grave #i think ben would be both very curious and very suspicious of harbor initially #cause who the hell is this guy and what is he doing here and where does he get off trying to move in before they even know there ARE Others #but once they actually meet harbor immediately sees ben as dedicated and protective and more experienced and so actively wants him to take #ellie if anything happens. and for ben being WANTED and WORTHY is a hell of a drug and getting a cute new baby when hes most insecure about #alex growing up and leaving him is like. as soon as the surgery is secured he is SO BACK. so he immediately becomes much more fond of Harbor

As soon as i finish copying my notes over i think im gonna delete my posts about winslow & co and if you want to read about them you can 1) wait until the story is done and/or 2) wait until after the story has BEEN out long enough for the initial concept to qualify as crossover fic and truffle hunt it on ao3

HOWEVER i am just going to post annoying about Harbor and Harry because I Like Them and i dont actually want to write the whole fic of them but i Do want to post oc/canon obnoxious as fuck and cutie cutes Alex & Ellie siblingism because Who Can Stop Me.

#alex will get over her dead boyfriend when she gets a new baby sib <- statements dreamed up by the Utterly Deranged (ben)#alex will actually probably resent ellie quite a bit but then feel a duty to provide Literally Any Influence outside of ben #and end up liking harry against her will. meanwhile el thinks alex is The Coolest #ben baby fever canon as fuck harbor starts liking ben out of Respect but ben falls for New Baby first and starts strategically liking harbor #to win Parent status. he Could just steal this one too but the idea that Harbor WANTS him to raise el & considers him WORTHY is intoxicating

Harbor Grave (given name unknown) approx. 30ish. Used to be someone else, had a mental break and washed up half drowned with a destroyed memory. Took the name as a badge of survival. Been homeless a couple of years.

El-ahrairah (alternately Ellie or Harry for short), less than 1. Orphan of a young runaway mother. She asked to shelter in a spot where Harbor was already camping and he gave her room but she passed away in the night. The baby survived and Harbor couldn't bear to turn it in to the authorities in case they traced next-of-kin and handed it right back to whatever hellhole its mother died trying to get it away from. Harbor named the child for the prince of rabbits because the mother never told either of their names and he felt the circumstances would curse them with all the world their enemy anyways so they may as well take the blessing for survival with it.

Harbor follows some rich wacko to Sydney because he can't afford to refuse a job offer that could house and feed them no matter how sus it is, but it is sus and he ends up running away to LA shortly after, which is how they end up on Oceanic 815.

Harbor does not want to put gender on a baby so Ellie/Harry is intentionally switched up and kept ambiguous. Harry has a stuffed bunny named Hazel-rah. Obviously Watership Down is Harbor's favorite and in one of Sawyer's rare moments of camaraderie he gifts the Island copy to little Ellie when he's done reading it.

me making ocs when i was 13: okay i want my character to be cool and different but not too different... i dont want anyone to call them a mary sue... or too edgy... or forced diverrsity.... and i have to draw good or else i could end up on a deviantart youtube video like my friend did that one time... this is hard...

me writing characters now: hes a wolf with blue hair and he has a chainsaw that can turn into a bass guitar. his name is road boy because three bikers found him on the road during the apocolypse and raised him to do stunt motorcycle tricks but they have no idea what his real name is hes bi and ace and his best friend is a trans woman and he lives in an abandoned mall

I dont have time i dont have time i dont have time i ALREADY HAVE A THING IM WRITING why why why why why. Sorry if i post more stupid oc slop i need this out of my head so i can go back to my main work.

#oc concept is a new single parent by unconventional means to play against the other weird parent dynamics #oc was homeless and tried to help a runaway mother but she didnt make it so he took the baby and ended up just keeping it because he didnt #want the authorities to give it right back to whatever situation the mom gave her life to get it out of. so hes never wanted a kid ever or #even considered the possibility of being capable but has abruptly become a single father. and in desperately seeking to find any way to keep #the kid safe and find a home he ends up in a crazy situation in sydney then leaves that via oceanic 815 #so when he gets to the island he's ALREADY super traumatized survival mode and just desperately grateful to have landed somewhere #it never freezes and the food LITERALLY grows on trees. hashtag island life is actually a VASTLY safer upgrade from the outside world #so it immediately put him at odds with the other survivors even as everyone is most concerned about the children #and then of course im angling ben/oc where ben would feel some type of way about a special destined island baby with a dead mom being raised #by someone who should be a stranger with no 'right' to it but obviously will do anything in his power to give it a loving home

I think my favorite thing about Ben Linus is the fact that you could ship him with like any of the main characters he interacts with and there’s actually material to back it up like

- Locke: self explanatory

- Sayid: were partners for 2 years, Sayid basically hates him for breaking up with him

- Jack: were besties for 2 days, even shared a hotel room

- Kate: thematic parallels, she saved his life multiple times

- Sawyer: shared a beautiful hike once

- Juliet: I don’t think I really need to explain this one

- Hurley: Island Besties™️

- The Actual Smoke Monster: got all flirty (i.e. “I’m a Pisces”)

This was genuinely what it was like growing up in New Agey circles btw, my mum's friends would come round like "So I went out to the woods this weekend and fasted and meditated and I had a vision of the Sacred Stag and all my guardian angels and I asked them how to find love and they said that I need to focus on my own healing first and stop repeating cycles of the past" and then the very next week it'd be like "So I'm back with James again" girl..... the Sacred Stag could not have been more clear....
