🔞 Valko x Fem Reader// smut, fluff, plot
You didn’t mean to stare, to memorize his cafe order. Same thing every day, chocolate croissant, hot cocoa and a banana—for balance, you supposed. Not the breakfast you’d expect for a man dressed in three piece suits every morning. He looked important, down to his jewelry, frameless glasses and cropped hair. Even with an heir of seriousness, his voice was always calm, never raising a decible, even when a new barista got his order wrong.
It wasn’t often you wanted to speak to strangers, and they didn’t approach you either. Your nose was always pressed to a laptop screen or report anyway, especially with the uprise of Wanderer appearances in the city. Those reports piled, your limbs ached and the dark circles never seemed to fade. Somehow, though, you looked forward to the silent routine of watching this handsome and mysterious redhead.
Until he wasn’t there, wasn’t sitting at the far corner table near the window. You frowned, completely oblivious to the poor girl behind the counter attempting to take you next. “Ma’am? Can I get something started for you?” Geez, get it together, it’s not like you talked anyway. Not that you were going to, or if he even wanted to. “Ah, sorry just a green tea today—and a muffin.”
“What kind?”
You leaned down, peering into the glass case. This cafe baked everything fresh and you had tried one of every pastry since their grand opening, so why was it so hard to decide now?
“The double chocolate is my personal favorite.”
That voice, deep, honeyed—familiar. How long had he been standing behind you?
“Oh—okay. Sure, I’ll try it. Thank you,” you replied, thank god you didn’t stutter. “Don’t mention it.”
“Morning, Valko, same as usual?” The barista called over the hissing of milk frothers and espresso machines. “Ha, am I that predictable?,” he grinned. Now you knew his name, though you wish it could have been in a scenario where you were exchanging your own. Valko wasn’t sporting his usual CEO-like attire. Instead a baggy hoodie, shorts and sneakers took its place. Even his glasses were different, larger frames, sitting high on the hump of his nose. You were staring even harder now, seeing his features this close. If he wasn’t modeling on the side, it’d be a waste of such a perfectly squared jaw and toned physique.
“M’sorry to intrude on your order like that, I’m kind of a chocolate fiend,” he laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. He towered your frame as you stood side by side at the pick up counter, had he always looked this–big? “I’ve noticed—,” oh, shit.
“You have?,” his grin widened and brows raised nearly to his hair line. Your heart was currently sinking to your ass. “I—I just see you in here a lot, that’s all.” Was this a coffee shop or graveyard, because you could die on the spot. “So you’ve been watchin’ me?” “I never said that…” He reached for your order, then handed it to you with a wink, “didn’t have to.” Your paths split then, he headed for the exit and your usual routine was completely thrown. But before he left, Valko turned on his heel. “Actually, if you’re here tomorrow, maybe we could share a table? That way you don’t have to stare across the cafe,” he beamed, crooked and crinkled around the eyes.
This man had quite the nerve to tease you so boldly, he didn’t even know your name yet—
“Sorry I didn’t ask, what should I call ya?”
Your answer tumbled so dryly from your throat, a frog could learn to croak from you. “Cool. Well, uh tell me how you like the muffin, ‘kay? Later!”
“See you…”
A large gust of wind blew past your lips, had you been holding your breath that entire time? The paper bag holding that precious chocolate muffin crinkled between your fingers, if you held it any tighter, you’d be left with crumbs instead. Admittedly, even with a mask of nonchalance worn on your face, you couldn’t wait for it to be 8:30 AM on a Thursday.
It rained that morning. Even though springs were warm here, a surprise storm came now and again. You shook off your umbrella, stepped through the cafe doors and there he was. Far corner table by the window, same as always. This time, however, his laptop and normally scattered papers were neatly tucked, as if the remaining space was reserved for you. And… muffin and green tea were there too, steam freshly billowing in the air. “Hey, g’morning,” he greeted warmly, waving with a half peeled banana in his hand. You hung your bag and coat over the back of the chair, “morning. Did you…buy me breakfast? Lemme pay you back—.”
Valko made a small sound, somewhere between a scoff and a laugh, “nah, don’t worry about it. My treat. I’m just happy to have some company.” He watched you expectantly, then his eyes–those gorgeous pools of gold–flicked toward the still empty seat. “You are gonna join me, right?” Without letting another awkward second pass, you sank into the cushioned chair and dug out your things. Laptop, reports, yours and Tara’s in fact. You truly were a great friend, completing them for her while she’s on sick leave. “You’re a Hunter, huh?,” Valko inquired, peering over his lenses. You looked at his own piles of notes, or rather they looked like blueprints of some kind. “Yeah, going on three years. Unicorns division.”
“High ranks, I’m honored to be in your presence,” he gave a two-finger salute. He seemed to be a natural flirt, oozing charisma from his pores. It made your cheeks warm and throat dry, you remedied that with a sip of tea.
“And you? These look…quite intricate,” you replied, gesturing to the neat pile of paperwork and pens with shallow teeth marks in their caps. Valko brushed croissant crumbs off the blue gridded paper, “oh these? Just some prototypes. Trying to draw up designs for prosthetic limbs featuring this new ‘Eoncore’ tech. Nerdy stuff, y’know?” That name sounded all too familiar, maybe heard in passing at HQ.
“So, you’re an engineer then?”
Valko adjusted his glasses, taking a sip of cocoa—you stifled a laugh when the lenses fogged up. “Uh-huh, something like that. I also teach the college robotics team when I’m not in the lab. Hey, how was that muffin by the way?” I guess you’d skip over the fact that you were sitting before a tech prodigy for now. “Very…rich. I normally get the breakfast sandwich, but they were out that day.”
“So you’re more into savory foods, huh? Noted.” He tapped his temple with a finger as if to punctuate your tastes into his memory, like he’d be buying you breakfast again. Maybe even as soon as tomorrow. “What else do you like, Miss Hunter?”
As his sentence ended, your brain had suddenly been wiped clean. What did you like? Who were you before 8:30 AM on a Thursday? “I…like rain, the sound and smell. ‘Petrichor’ is the word for it, I think. Kinda weird, I know. And taking the train instead of driving. I prefer nights, I feel more like myself when the world is quiet.” Valko rested his chin into his palm, the cafe no longer existed, nor did the copious amounts of work, even the last bite of his croissant went ignored. “Anything else?”
“And…really bad horror movies.”
“How bad?”
“Like, one-star rated bad.”
He smiled, hard enough to reveal the dimples on his jaw. Of course he had those, freckles too. “What about you?,” you asked, tearing off a piece of muffin. “Me?,” he replied, glancing down at your lips as you chewed. “Yeah, what do you like? You have to have some hobbies other than being here. I mean, yesterday you weren’t even in a suit—“
“So observant,” he chided, you nearly choked. How could you ignore the way his shoulders poked through a loose-fitting hoodie, when his thighs nearly ripped his four inch inseam shorts. He didn’t even look sweaty that day, a glow radiated off his faintly flushed cheeks. “Well, since you asked so nicely, if I’m not here, at the lab or in the gym—I prefer a more scenic environment. The forest, specifically.” Somehow that just made sense. Valko looked like he belonged to the wilderness, like he’d howl at a full moon. His eyes, with the right amount of sun, were a warm, wolfish-yellow.
“You should be careful out there, fluctuations have been unstable in certain parts of the forest,” you warned before working on another bite of muffin. Maybe you liked sweets more than you thought. Or perhaps the company of the person that bought them for you. “Copy that. But maybe if I’m lucky,” he already felt lucky just sitting next to you, “you’ll come flying to my rescue.” You were going to pretend that didn’t make your cheeks hot and stomach twist. “What kind of Hunter would I be if I didn’t?” Oh? Was his charm already rubbing off on you? Stuck to your sweater like a dog’s fur. Maybe.
Your breakfast ‘dates’ continued over the next few months, a new routine that grew on you fondly. On the days where one of you arrived before the other, you got each other’s order—and every time, Valko refused your cash but tucked his in your tote pocket. “For a rainy day”, he claimed, it hadn’t rained since that first Thursday you spent together. While the breakfast sandwich was your favorite—turkey sausage, egg and a slice of what was probably processed cheese—you began to really crave that chocolate muffin. And, whether or not you were ready to admit it, you really, really liked Valko.
It was a slow morning in the cafe, quiet, save for the coffee machines and toaster oven timers. Your reports were caught up this week, so you had offered to help Valko organize some slides for an upcoming seminar he’d be presenting at. “Hey so, I know we’ve been meeting here almost every morning, and I’ve really appreciate your help,” he said, breaking an hour long silence.
“But…?”
“Oh, no buts, it’s just…”
Was he nervous? Flushing from cheeks to ears? You liked this version of him. Sure, the witty and charismatic Valko was fun, but the one that anxiously chewed his pen cap simply from your presence was just as endearing. “I was thinking, maybe we could hang out at night too…?”
“Are you asking me out?” Now his face was nearly crimson. “That depends, will you say yes?”
You smiled, which seemed to ease his tensed shoulders, “sure will.”
A week from today, that was when you’d have your movie night. Besides, you had to show him those infamous horror films. Between now and then, work dragged and he was busier than normal, so the cafe didn’t see either of you. He wanted you at the seminar, said your contribution deserved to be appreciated by your eyes just as much as everyone else’s. While you didn’t understand all of the tech-y jargon, watching Valko speak passionately about his studies and future partnership with Akso hospital, made you fall just a little harder. You saw how he drew in the crowd, made them interested and attentive—it didn’t take much. He spoke to the room like they were in the lab along side him and you could hardly notice when phrases and protocols were simplified for those who didn’t understand. Nothing that came out of his mouth hinted that he knew better, that he was the best person to ever exist. He was just someone that wanted to make a difference. Just Valko in an expensive suit.
As the event came to an end, applause and crowd dispersed, you found yourself searching for that red hair and pair of golden eyes. “Hey, you,” his hands rested on your shoulders, turning you in for a hug. “Hey,” you wheezed from his strength. This was the first physical affection you’d had in a while, from a man at least. Tara had a habit of being an aggressive hugger, too.
“You’re hugging me.”
“I am.”
His embrace felt different, lingering as if he didn’t want to let go, or lose you in this sea of physicians and business people. He really was huge, his body swallowed yours whole. And he was warm and…did he always smell this nice? How many seconds had passed before you realized your fingers were curling into his blazer? He must have noticed, because he held you even tighter.
“Valko—my lungs.” “Ha, sorry, I’m just really glad you came.” His gaze had changed too, softening more than usual, pupils wider. It wasn’t lost on you that he didn’t look at anyone else like this, either.
“You were amazing. I snapped a few pictures, hope you don’t mind. Never seen you look so official before today.” Valko rubbed the nape of his neck, “yeah, it comes with the work, I guess. I prefer being silly, though.” Of course, the man whose favorite drink was chocolate milk, who scribbled comic strips on the cafe napkins and had a cartoonish wolf keychain on his keys would be a total dork. And you’d take that over serious any day.
You wanted the big framed glasses, the baggy hoodies and sweat pants. You wanted the sight of him running a hand through his hair, unbothered by the cowlick the motion left behind. The sharp tailored suits, clean cut edges were eye catching, sure. But the softness of his laugh, the little hum he gave after taking a bite of those chocolate croissants, how he chooses to be himself with you—that is what left his finger prints on your mind.
Valko knew after a while that he was falling for you. If you wanted something beyond friendship, he would be lying to say he didn’t want the same. If you preferred nights, he was going to be the moon. Share those quiet hours that understood you the most. But for now, being your emotional support horror movie partner was good enough.
His apartment was homy and humble. Plants filled the space from floor to ceiling, if you didn’t know any better, you’d think he lived in a greenhouse. Warm lamplight and the television’s glow lit the room, the aroma of popcorn smelled like butter and salt and good times. Valko even dipped into his secret chocolate stash just for tonight, gracious of him, really. He sat on the floor, back pressed to the couch, while you sank into the cushions hugging a pillow close to your chest. One of your legs hung off the edge, nearly touching Valko’s shoulder, but he didn’t mind and neither did you.
“Alright, aaand done,” he said with a punctuating click on his mousepad. Ever since the seminar, he’d been rattling off emails to research teams and shareholders. Now, laptop shut and chocolate bar in hand, he was yours for the rest of the evening. “This is one of the best-worst zombie films of all time,” you announced, “I hope you’re ready.” Valko chuckled, “I’ve never been more excited than right now, actually.”
“You scared?”
“Pft, nah. Not with my brave Hunter here to protect me.”
His Hunter? His. You really liked the sound of that. It made your ears ring and pulse flicker. The remote was clutched in your hand, palms clammy, thumb hovering above the play button. Curse him for getting you flustered with such simple words.
“Hey, you gonna start the movie or stare into space a little longer?,” he chided. You scoffed, shaking off the nerves and butterflies in your stomach. The movie was just what you remembered. Bad acting, terrible cgi, did the the blood always resemble ketchup? Most of the duration you spent laughing between bites of popcorn and candy. But, about half way through, there was one scene you seemed to forget. A loud and startling jump-scare flashed across the screen. Probably what earned this garbage fire of a film its one-star rating. Valko flinched, grabbing hold of your ankle like a life line. You yelped, launching the pillow from your lap, unsure if his grip or the movie scared you more.
“Whoa—you never said anything about jumps-cares!,” Valko huffed.
“To be fair, I forgot that part even hap—oh.”
“Oh, sorry..,” he murmured, letting his hand slip away. It felt more like a caress than a retreat, slow, intentional—almost reverent. Your entire leg pebbled with goodbumps, his ears were bright red.
“N-no, it’s fine…”
“Just fine?”
Valko turned to face you, golden eyes reading your expression before falling on your lips. Your next move was deciding whether you kept watching the movie, or abandon it completely.
“…more than fine…”
You went with the latter.
“Careful..”
“Scared?,” this question had a new meaning now, charged with one million volts. But Valko had never looked more sure to take things to the next level. So who was scared really? Whose heart was pounding behind their ribs?
“Only that you don’t want this, or me.” He filled the space between your knees, that same hand trailing up your shin. “Because I want you.” You reached for the remote, turning the movie off completely. The room was just a little darker now, it didn’t keep you from seeing the look on Valko’s face. “How bad?,” you asked, voice warm and low.
His hand smoothed over your thigh, fingers just barely touching the hem of your pajama shorts. “Let me show you.”
“I’d like that…”
That was all he needed. He scooped you into his arms, taking your place on the couch as you straddled his lap. When he kissed you, it wasn’t rushed, or messy. His lips still tasted faintly of chocolate as they swept over yours. Valko moaned into your mouth, a sound so desperate and wanton you couldn’t help but mirror the sound back into his. His fingers dug into your hips when you slid your tongue into his mouth. Then your hands began to wander. Combing through his hair, roughly gripping the roots because you loved the whine it pulled from his throat. Valko’s fingertips traced patterns on your thighs, growling when you’d shiver. “Do you believe me, now?”
“Think I need a little more convincing.”
He nuzzled into the crook of your neck, letting his lips and tongue work at the pulse fluttering beneath the skin. Sounds emanated that you couldn’t explain, nor control. “Mmh, cute,” he breathed, “what other noises can you make?” You ground into him, mouthing at the lobe of his ear, letting it slide between your teeth, “depends on where you else you decide to use that tongue.”
“Fuck—,” he rasped.
Your back hit the cushions and Valko’s hoodie ripped over his shoulders, tossed somewhere, but that wasn’t important. God, he looked edible. Big, broad, muscles you didn’t even knew existed taught with waning restraint. His chest was heaving, pupils blown wide, “can I?,” he asked, hands waiting at the hem of your shirt. He’d never been more thankful to hear the word ‘yes’, how it left you breathlessly, like the sound was delivered to him on a cloud. Your bra came off next, fumbled between trembling fingers. Valko moaned at the sight of you, the rise and fall of your chest. Soft, supple, made for worship. His face lowered between your breasts, pressing slow, lingering kisses. You bit your lower lip, letting your nails drag over his scalp.
“More…,” you sighed.
How could he keep you waiting when you begged so pretty? The gasps, whines and moans you gave him as his mouth came around each nipple were enough to drive him mad. He couldn’t help but rut his hips into you, chase the warmth radiating from your core. The heavy, thick length between his legs didn’t go unnoticed, even through suffocating layers of fabric.
“Wanna taste you–fuck–can I baby?,” he pleaded. His brows were knitted tight, eyes glossed and hazy. Valko swiped a stripe with his tongue just below your navel, “I need it.” His pleas were met with the arch of your hips, pushing away your shorts. He assisted in the removal, catching the elastic band of your panties, leaving you completely bare.
His arms coiled around your thighs, face disappearing between them. “God, look at you. Did I do this?,” he purred, “are you wet because of me?”
He lapped slowly, his tongue wide and flat against you to savor every inch of slick flesh. Now your nails were at his back, dragging lightly until his mouth found your clit. “Oh, my god—,” you keened, eyes rolling back, hips chasing friction. His voice hummed against you, vibrating up your spine. Lidded eyes gazed from below, admiring every arch and twisted expression. When you felt too far away, he buried his face deeper, growling with satisfaction when your thighs closed around his head. “That’s it, babygirl, take what’s yours.”
“‘M close…haah,” you gasped, panting more as your first climax approached. Valko’s lips stayed encircled around your clit. As if that wasn’t enough, he curled two fingers inside. “Give it to me, that’s it. So good…,” he praised, massaging your most tender spot. It was torture and bliss all at once, coiling inside like a snake ready to strike. “Don’t wanna—ruin your couch,” you gasped, that fear didn’t seem to halt how your pussy ground against his chin. “Don’t care…,” Valko growled, “make a fuckin’ mess.” Finally, your body let go. Each wave more intense than the last, caught by his tongue, met with his praise. “God, you’re perfect,” he professed, “pussy’s perfect…,” your thigh became a canvas for his lips and teeth. “You taste so…,”
“Perfect?,” you said, almost out of breath.
“Incredible.”
Valko rose from between your thighs, he left a path of kisses and marks from your stomach to your lips. His tongue tasted like the perfect blend of you and him, heady and sweet. “You’re not done, yet, right?,” you didn’t care how insatiable you sounded. That made Valko huff a laugh, “not even close, look at what you doing to me.” His fingers wrapped around your wrist, guiding you to palm the throbbing evidence between his legs. There was no hiding that behind his grey sweatpants. “I want it…,” you whispered, then squeezed. Valko hissed, “easy there—I want nothing more than to give it to you.” His fingers dove beneath the waistband, pushing away the last barrier that kept you two apart.
Big was an understatement, his cock hung heavily, twitching as it met the heated air. It was…rather pretty, too. Tan like the rest of him, the tip flushed and dewy. You licked your lips before tucking the bottom one into your teeth. “Breathe for me, kay?,” he murmured, holding himself at the base. You nodded, peering down at where he began to tease you. Valko felt just a tiny bit greedy, dragging his crown through your folds, tapping slowly against your clit. “So messy for me…,” he said, low, almost to himself.
“Valko—p-please,” you stuttered.
“Mm. Sorry….she’s just so pretty.”
The stretch was intoxicating, inch by inch making you pleasantly full. A sound echoed from your mouths, a grateful, needy whine that filled the space between your bodies. Valko eased your thighs into your chest, sinking on top of you until his weight stole your breath. It felt too good, even if he hadn’t moved yet, it made you clench and flutter just from his presence inside.
You never thought you’d be here, beneath him. Never once did it cross your mind that your nails would bite into his back as his name dripped off your tongue. Until now, of course. Until that first deliberate roll of his hips made you both curse through gritted teeth. Valko gave you every part of him, every inch your body could take. And you took him well.
“So…deep,” you moaned.
“Mmh—I know.” His jaw hung slack, watching in awe at how your pussy swallowed him to the base. “Is it mine? Tell me it is…”
“Valko…”
“Please, tell me it’s mine. Want you to be mine,” he whimpered, grinding flush against you. The friction was too much, making it impossible to breathe, let alone speak. He melted into you again, lips on your neck. Each kiss was hotter than the last, followed by tongue and teeth. “I’m yours too,” he rasped, “all yours.”
“Mine,” you echoed.
“Yes, baby, all yours…”
Now it was your turn to feel greedy. That little green monster hidden in your deepest depths came crawling to the surface. Because, yes, you did want him—before tonight was even an idea in your mind. And here he was, proudly begging for approval. Then finally, you found your voice.
“So take it…,” you said.
“Hm?”
Your arms laced around his neck, tugging his ear to your mouth. “This pussy is yours, so take it…”
His hands flexed where they molded to your waist. He drew back slowly, until you were almost empty and protesting at the loss. Valko stared proudly at the silky mess of slick on his cock before thrusting back inside. The pace he set was faster, but not harsh. Just enough to make your vision blur around the edges. “Feel so–ah–so fuckin’ good,” he rasped, raw and strained. Your legs came around him, heels digging into his spine. He wasn’t close enough, wasn’t deep enough inside. His body agreed as it sank into yours, heavy and grounding. Your hips arched to meet his groin, stealing what friction you could. Nothing existed except for him, tangled breath and limbs, the heartbeat pounding in your chest.
“Mine,” you repeated a second time. Then again and again and again. Each time matching the rhythm of his thrusts.
“Yeah, that’s it. Keep going,” he whispered, “don’t fuckin’ stop.”
The word fell off your lips like you invented it, warm and slurred and sweet like honey. Valko hummed with approval, he throbbed where you connected and licked the lines of your throat. Your taste satiated him, scent hypnotized his every move, he’d never get enough. What he wanted most was your mess, coating his length, darkening the upholstery. “Baby…,” he said, “want you to cum f’me, want it so bad.” His hand slid between your joined hips, fingertips finding that aching little bud. A gasp ripped from you then, your walls clenching him like a vice. The growl he gave was satisfactory, music to your ears. “Like that? Tell me.”
The nod you gave was an answer, but it wasn’t enough. “Say it, wanna hear you.” The circles rubbing against you had started slow, but heightened with every buck and whimper. “C’mon, pretty girl. Tell me you wanna cum on my cock…”
“I do…”
“Yeah?”
“U-uh huh—mmh.”
His eyes were piercing pools of gold, boring into you, watching every expression. He would never forgive himself if he missed the chance to see how pleasure bloomed across your face. How your eyes would roll back and jaw fell open. He could already hear the sounds, pitched, whiny—all because of him. “Go on, I gotchu…”
Valko’s thumb circled faster, you clawed at his biceps, leaving crescent lines in his skin. The dull heat in your stomach came to a boil, and you couldn’t wait for it to spill over. He urged you again, with his touch and voice and fullness. You said his name where words failed to come. “Yes, baby, m’right here.”
“I–I’m—“
“Cum. For. Me,” it was no longer a want nor need, but a command. A firm, guttural order and your body responded to with jolting hips and echoing cries. Valko lost himself in the waves, tossed around by the currant of your release. He rolled into you with heavy thrusts until the heat of him gushed from where he was buried. The calm came unhurriedly, with shallow breath, slow kisses and soft caressing. The couch didn’t feel so small, even as your bodies nearly slid to the carpet. He was warm, not the suffocating kind like humidity during summer. But when the sun peaked through branches in autumn. You traced the raised lines you left down his back and curled your fingers into his hair, paying the dampness of it no mind. Valko’s hands explored the length of your torso and suppleness of each thigh. What remaining desire he had left came in the way he palmed your ass and groaned into your neck. As if he wasn’t completely spent, as if he needed seconds.
“You okay?,” he murmured, resting on an elbow to look at you.
“Mm. I am, are you?”
He huffed, forehead falling to your shoulder, “I’m the luckiest man alive. You felt—you were amazing.”
A drowsy smile pulled at the corners of your lips, eyes closing as if you could sleep right there beneath his weight.
“So pretty,” he sighed.
“Hm?”
“When you smile like that. I wanna make sure you do it all the time.”
“Valko…,”
“Can I?,” he asked smoothing his thumb across your cheek. “Sure can.” His grin was tired, but honest, “perfect.” He kissed the tip of your nose, your cheek and finally your lips. It was deep, slow leaving his taste on your tongue—pulling a moan from your throat.
“Careful,” Valko warned, “I’m, uh, still…” You felt him, not quite hard but certainly nowhere near softening, still deep enough to make you squirm.
“Maybe I don’t wanna be careful.”
He throbbed, his hand tightening around your hip, “talking like that is gonna get you thrown on my mattress…”
You quirked your brow, running a finger down Valko’s chest, “you say that like it’s a threat.”
He was on his feet in seconds, forearms tucked under your thighs and headed for the bedroom. His lips pressed against your shoulder before he murmured low and hot into your ear.
“It’s a promise.”
———
In the midst of somewhere between sleep and wakefulness, you felt the bed shift. The once warm presence slowly dissolving from your side. You whined, rolling over into the dent where Valko’s body was. “Stay right there, gonna make us breakfast, kay?” You grumbled something in response, he chuckled before kissing your cheek.
“My famous chocolate chip pancakes.”
The smell woke your senses first. Warm batter, sweet chocolate, the aroma curled around your nose and dragged you out of bed. You shimmied into his giant hoodie that hung off your frame like a tent and padded into the kitchen. Valko stood at the stove, hair disheveled, dressed only in boxer briefs. Not the worst sight first thing in the morning, even if they were thrown on in a sleepy stupor. You giggled at the fact that they were backwards.
“Hey, you’re up,” he said, “hungry?”
“Starving.”
“I’ll bring it to you, nice hoodie by the way.” You eased into a dining chair, watching him from across the room. It sort of started this way, didn’t it? Long gazes from afar, the smell of coffee and early mornings. Except Valko was no longer the stranger in the cafe. He was the man you wanted to eat pancakes with every Sunday.
