Lore n Theories: Rafayel

I made this to help other people(and myself) understand the lore better because it can be very confusing!

-Spoilers for main story, cards, anecdotes and myths in LADS!

Background info:

All of the LI routes are canon within the main story, meaning there is no right or wrong route in the main story(No love interest is “the canon ending” because all of them are canon). 

The theories in here are pretty much 90% accurate(pretty sure it's canon however there has been no confirmation), however they will be in a separated section. 

The main story is still on going and to be frank with you, this probably isn’t everything simply because, infold hasn’t given us everything. If there are any updates on his story(as of 5.0), I will try to update this though!

Rafayel can be a very fake person, obviously not towards mc but, nevertheless he still wears a mask. I would just like you to keep in mind that he also keeps quite a few secrets from mc. 

Rafeyel has no memories of his myths(why he is actively searching for the Tome of the Sea God to uncover Lemuria’s prophecies because he doesn’t know it yet)! The Rafeyels you see in the myths are the reincarnation of the sea god, and they share the same soul. It is also important to note that Rafayel’s bond to mc remains eternal for ALL timelines.

Main story and abt him:

Another childhood friend's genre except gone wrong! Add in amnesia to it. Rafayel and mc first met during a tsunami in Southeast Linkon. Both were younger at the time, with Rafayel in his merman form. On Linkon’s shore, a younger mc encountered Rafayel and told him she liked his scales. Rafayel explained that where he comes from, complimenting someone’s scales is equivalent to telling them they like them. The two made a promise to meet again at the same spot the following year. However, when that day arrived, MC didn’t show up. It is later revealed that the reason MC didn’t return was because she became sick with a high fever and was unconscious for 3–4 days. During this period, she lost many of her memories. 

This event also took place before the main story, when mc was still a college student. Rafayel arrived in Linkon City, and became a famous renowned artist. One day, Rafayel received an email from one of his informants about a girl at Linkon University. The informant claimed they had found the girl Rafayel had been searching for. During their meeting, he gets more info about mc, as well as how she is valuable and that many others were already keeping an eye on her. The informant warned Rafayel that he was entering the game late. However, in his mind, Rafayel thought to himself, “I’ve been in the game since the very beginning.” Rafayel secured a position as a visiting art professor at Linkon University for a year. Rafayel observed her from a distance, confirming that she was indeed the one he had been searching for.

“Raincoat,” an agent from Ever, captured a director named Tony, who had planned to make a fantasy movie about Lemuria. Tony had interviewed Rafayel in the past. He asked Rafayel about Lemuria, Rafayel suggested he speak to the Archaeological Team instead, claiming they knew more about Lemuria than he did. Tony then attempted to contact members of the Deepspace team who had ventured into the ruins of Lemuria. Most of them were either unreachable or refused to speak. Rumors even suggested that several team members had mysteriously vanished. Tony’s final lead was Professor Sean, who revealed that during their expedition they had been guided by a school of blue fish, and this led them to Lemuria. As Raincoat reviews Tony’s recordings, Rafayel suddenly appears before him, destroying the evidence, engulfing it with his flames. He then asks Raincoat, if mc is on Ever’s execution list, and threatens that if she indeed is, to give him all information about her. This shows the assassin Rafayel who targets people responsible for killing and abusing Lemurians. It is also implied that Rafayel was responsible for the Deepspace Team’s disappearance and their silence. Either he killed them with his flames or wiped out their memories.

Rafayel and mc take a trip to a country situated on a peninsula. During their visit, mc stops by an antique shop and purchases a book titled One Lemurian in a Stormy Night. It is subtly revealed that the shop owner is a Lemurian and Rafayel's former butler; though mc remains unaware of this connection. Rafayel says he used to live in this city with an old butler. Apparently, most surviving Lemurians are currently in hiding. Likely, they are being hunted down mostly by Ever because their rare blood can grant immortality. Mc also asks Rafayel here how Lemurians express love. And Rafayel explains that Lemurians dedicate all their senses to perceiving their lover completely without question, hence the title of this card: “Omnipotent Perceptions.”The card title, Omnipotent Perceptions, describes the Sea God’s eternal bond with his bride. When they exchanged vows in the Sea God’s temple, those vows became unbreakable, persisting across all lifetimes. This explains why, in different timelines and with various versions of MCs and Rafayel, their bond remains intact. This connection also grants Rafayel the ability to perceive everything the MC feels. He can clearly discern her desires, anticipate her decisions, and is perpetually aware of her thoughts and emotions.

The land of the secret flames: The school of tiny blue fish reappears here again! Mc questions why it’s acting silly around her, and Rafayel tells her it is because it recognizes a “familiar scent.” While MC thought about Rafayel’s kiss earlier (one that allowed her to breathe underwater), Rafayel actually meant their connection from the past (Forgotten Sea Myth). Mc’s command: “With the authority granted to me by the ocean’s covenant, I order you to…”, we already know that the Sea God’s bond to his bride is absolute and eternal. The Sea God cannot go against his bride’s wishes. 

Myth- Forgotten sea:

The story starts with mc set to be sacrificed to the God of the Sea by his extreme fanatic human followers. She is taken aboard a ship to fulfill this “sacrifice,” but during this, a fierce storm hits. Rafayel happens to be in the vicinity and witnesses everything. Mc is plunged into the sea. When she surfaces, she sees Rafayel and asks if he is a Lemurian. She pleads for his help, but Rafayel teases her in response. She remembers an old tale that says the kiss of a Lemurian will allow someone to breathe in the watery depths. She grabs Rafayel, catching him off guard, and kisses him. This act sets off the beginning of their vow. To mc, it may be just her survival instincts kicking in, but to Rafayel, it marks the start of their oath. Later in the story, Rafayel chooses mc to be his “devout follower.” According to the “Tome of the Sea God,” once the Sea God has chosen someone to be his devout follower, he is bound to that person’s every command and must never go against their wishes; otherwise, they cannot remain bound. When they visit the surface due to mc’s wishes, Rafayel offers her the option to stay, telling her that she doesn’t have to return to Lemuria with him. However, mc insists, making it her own choice to stay with Rafayel. The Sea god’s Ceremony is set to begin and everyone in Whalefall City anticipates the event. During the ceremony, Rafayel and mc enter the temple and exchange their vows. However, as Rafayel was to take mc’s heart, he instead gives her his own heart, betraying Lemuria for his beloved. 

Myth- Sea of Golden Sands:

Mc is the “princess” of Philos not because she is royalty but because she possesses a rare special heart which grants Philos’ denizens immortality. Mc remembers about the young Lemurian that was gifted to her during one of her birthdays in the past, she also remembers how she set it free. In her memory, we see a young Rafayel asks her to come with him but when mc refuses he says he’ll come back for her one day. (It was also revealed later that Rafayel can only be captured if he wants to, meaning, he purposely wants to be caught to see mc). Amund appears before Rafayel, warning him not to forget mc’s “betrayal” and how the heart of the Sea God was stolen. Rafayel expresses his desire to awaken the seas and restore their homeland, Lumeria. He then takes her to where the Tome of the Sea God is. There mc mentions how the place feels strangely familiar. Rafayel cuts both his and mc’s palms, allowing droplets of their blood to fall onto the tome. It is said that “When the god of the Sea is revived, the seas will awaken. To reclaim what was lost, the god of the Sea must kill his beloved.” She realizes that her heart belongs to the god of the Sea and if his heart is not returned, the fire will fade and an eternal slumber awaits him. She then takes Rafayel’s hand holding a dagger and points it to her chest. Basically, she is willing to give it back to him. Rafayel rejects her decision, saying he wants to change the prophecy. Rafayel erases her memory and returns her to the palace. Mc feels like she’s forgotten something important. When the King announces plans to capture all Lemurians, it triggers her memory, and she finally recalls Rafayel. She decides to escape the palace to find him. Rafayel is preparing to leave with Amund to search for another way to awaken the seas. Amund reminds him that refusing to take her heart will eventually cost him his life. Mc arrives running toward them, she tells Rafayel that she’s made her decision and will come with him wherever he goes and the story ends here. After Rafayel erases mc’s memories, he tells her “Goodbye my beloved bride”, confirming that mc became the Sea God’s bride. Mc’s heart is the source of immortality for Philos and its inhabitants. While Lemurian blood can bestow immortality on an individual, only the heart of the most powerful Lemurian: the Sea God possesses the strength to grant immortality to an entire planet..

Theories:

Though it’s not explicitly stated in the story, it is implied that Rafayel waited at the same spot every year, even though he denied it when mc later asked him about it (in his story branch Chapter 12).

How did Rafayel get stranded on the surface during the tsunami? During the Forgotten Sea Myth, as well as in his other 4* cards, it is implied that young Rafayel was quite a mischievous child. He frequently sneaked out to explore the surface out of curiosity, even going so far as to burn the Lumerian guards’ hair with his flames in the process.

Mc was sick with a high fever and was unconscious for 3-4 days: Mc’s memories are ultimately altered. It is mentioned that, in order to assess mc’s aether core heart and experiment on it further, they needed to kill her and make her resurrect again. After her resurrection, her previous “life”,(basically her memories) was erased. 

It is recorded that everyone voted to kill “Unicorn” (also mc). And when mc awakened from her state of death, her aether core became stronger. Could it be due to having met Rafayel, the person who gave her her heart?

Raincoat mentions that Rafayel is on Ever’s list, ranked sixth. The first five on the list are unknown, but we can probably guess that Xavier and Sylus are definitely among the top five.

“What do you have on the others?” – They are properly referring to either Xavier or Sylus. This implies that the Rafayel we see in the further chapters of this timeline is certainly aware of these two keeping an eye on mc.

Are we talking about the same guy? Yea, he can be submissive but, he always seems to control the room he's in, and the atmosphere. Am I just imagining it? idk I don't think so. Sylus is a very mysterious guy. He keeps a lot of things to himself, so this again, might not be everything and I could’ve missed something in here. Let me know if I did.

Bad guy genre but actually not bad guy. He is one of those morally grey characters however, in my opinion I don’t think he is a bad guy. While he's prone to violence, he does still have a moral code. Sylus honors his deals and oaths and never breaks a promise.

Sylus began Onychinus by buying and selling illegal Evol weapons and Protocores. While the N109 Zone is a lawless place where even the Hunters Association hesitates to go, there is a ruling body... of sorts? Onychinus has stepped in as the most influential faction in the N109 Zone and whatever Sylus says, goes. Basically he is the leader of a criminal organization. He managed to conquer the N109 Zone after traveling to Linkon City from another planet(Philos). Sylus brought wealth from planets and galaxies that he had pillaged. It's possible these riches were how he began his network of illegal armories and other unusual treasures.

Not much is known about Sylus' past, when mc meets him, he has just returned from a long, mysterious hiatus. Not even his organization, Onychinus knew where he was. While Sylus hasn't given many clues as to what his past life and childhood were like, a few clues arise in his Memory Cards and through various event stories(In the memory, No Way Out, Sylus admits that he played with real guns as a child, rather than toy guns). Although he does have some sort of connection with Philos, he isn't entirely human even by the genetically engineered standards of the Philosians, and is instead a descendant of a species of dragons found on that planet.

In the main story, Sylus also reveals to mc that he has a powerful Aether Core behind his eye that allows him to see a person's deepest desires. Apparently, they have also known each other since they were kids, Mc has forgotten this though, however when it is revealed, she remembers but her memories are still hazy.

When mc meets his eye, her thoughts repeatedly insist that Sylus belongs to her, that despite appearances she holds the power during their interactions, and that she can do whatever she chooses with him including, potentially destroying him.

Myth- Beyond Cloudfall

It's a little confusing, and complicated for even me, so I'm going to explain the memories in a very short and simple way! Back then, mc was an orphan on Philos. She was raised by the religious group in charge back then. This religious group turned on her, and they threw her into the abyss, sacrificing her. In here she meets and frees some type of bad guy. She snatched his soul and named him Sylus. While with him, she gives into her desires of revenge. Then they desire each other, too bad there is a dragon's curse but that also means that they will always find each other.

After falling in love with mc(a human sorceress sent to kill him). Sylus was cursed with a humanoid appearance that caused him to be shunned by others of his kind. The dragon's curse dooms Sylus to eventually kill mc in every incarnation he meets her in. However, Sylus repeatedly fights against this fate, and even successfully forces at least one version of the heroine to kill him before he can doom her, although his functional immortality eventually revives him. This provides a lot of explanatory context around his actions towards mc in the main story.

After his exile from the Philosian Dragons(who are now all extinct, with the exception of Sylus himself) he at some point managed to leave Philos and became an interstellar warlord, showing an aptitude for infiltrating and overtaking despotic regimes. Despite ending up imprisoned in the Supreme Interstellar Starship Tartarus for his crimes, Sylus became the only individual ever to escape from space-time prison

Sylus still remembers the other incarnations of mc that he's known; and his distress at learning that she retains no memories of her previous lives between reincarnations is the most pronounced. His attempts to force her to resonate with him when they meet is a desperate bid to make her remember him again conducted with Sylus' signature amorality, certainly, but nevertheless from his point of view justified by his devotion to her.

He does have immortality but I think it has its limits because he almost died that one time when they were in the desert. He doesn’t tell us the details about this either.. I know he can die and just revive. 

He is known as one of the most wanted criminals in philos history so I'm a little more curious about his past. I want to learn more. I don’t think I covered anything too much about it. 

What if it was an endless cycle of Sylus was always dying in our hands? And mc only remembers the other side of him..

Lore n Theories: Caleb

I made this to help other people(and myself) understand the lore better because it can be very confusing!

-Spoilers for main story, cards, anecdotes, myths, and also mc's backstory in LADS!

-tws: trauma, death, talks abt some form of child abuse, addiction, dissociative amnesia, mentions of sedatives, implications of murder, usage of psychiatric.

Background info:

All of the LI routes are canon within the main story, meaning there is no right or wrong route in the main story(No love interest is “the canon ending” because all of them are canon). 

The theories in here are pretty much 90% accurate(pretty sure it's canon however there has been no confirmation) , however they will be in a separated section. 

The main story is still on going and to be frank with you, this probably isn’t everything simply because, infold hasn’t given us everything. If there are any updates on his story(as of 5.0), I will try to update this though!

Caleb has been by mc's side the longest of the love interests, since he has lived with mc since they were both children. If we are talking about this timeline currently mc is the closest to him. However, Caleb keeps a lot of secrets from mc. 

I will only go over important things in this(contributed toward his character, life, powers, etc)! If you want something more in depth like an analysis(or breaking down more of his lore) let me know!

Main story and abt him:

Childhood friend genre again. Caleb is a test subject from ever after the Chronorift Crisis. Mc and him were designated Subjects 001 and 002, showing the most potential thanks to their unique and powerful evols! 

Caleb and mc were both orphaned and Grandma (or Gran, as Caleb calls her), takes in both children. Mc was around seven or eight years old when their 'Grandma', Josephine(a former scientist with Ever), took them in(basically rescued them), but Caleb is a few years older than Mc. 

While Mc has lost mostly all of her memories of her time at ever, thanks to her regenerative evol causing her to forget her past every time she dies and revives, however Caleb is still very aware of everything that happened to them as children. I think this is where we see Caleb take on a more protective role for Mc. This is the stem of his belief that keeping her safe will always justify the means, even if it means isolating her against her will.

After graduating from school in Skyhaven, Caleb entered the military as a fighter pilot in the Deepspace Aviation Administration (DAA) which is a highly secretive military organization(keep in mind that Caleb didn’t see gran or mc for several months at a time during flight school). The thing is Caleb never actually graduated from Deepspace Academy. While Caleb excelled in all physical evaluations and was pretty much always at the top of his class, he barely passed his psychiatric evaluation and was recommended to speak with a psychiatric professional based on his test scores. 

For his final Flight Exam, Caleb encountered an unidentified electromagnetic radiation flux and his ship was thrown off course, resulting in the loss of his navigational system and comms. Caleb is unable to return home. Everyone thinks he is dead. One week later, Caleb crash lands on a floating island near Skyhaven, bloodied and severely injured. He's taken to the hospital and, after one month, makes a full recovery(It's unclear if the electromagnetic radiation affected his recovery in any way. No one knows what Caleb really experienced in the Deepspace Tunnel, also Caleb does not tell mc abt any of this). 

Caleb admits to one of the DAA students that while he was adrift in the Tunnel for days, he eventually chose to give up and accept his death by turning off his rescue beacon. He also admits that even though he had given up, he was terrified of dying and being separated from mc. 

Although he did survive, Caleb now suffers from dissociative amnesia and recurrent nightmares. He was put on prescription painkillers and sedatives. Caleb's dreams and amnesia worsened after returning home(Dissociative amnesia is a type of amnesia that causes memory loss and may make a person forget personal info and events. This type of amnesia is sometimes the result of a traumatic experience).

He did not officially graduate from the Academy(because of his final flight exam incident). He was listed as a secondary candidate who would graduate upon retaking and passing his final flight exam. He never told his family. He did not retake it though instead, Caleb submitted a transfer request to another organization. Though not explicitly stated, it is assumed that he transferred to the Farspace Fleet.

Caleb and Gram go boom both are apparently dead, and mc vows to find the person behind the attack. The only thing mc has to remember him is the necklace that Caleb left behind. 

Caleb makes his return in Homecoming Wings, his main story branch. After being dispatched to Skyhaven to investigate an explosion similar to the one that destroyed her house, mc impersonates a Farspace Fleet soldier and infiltrates their ranks. Mc’s goal is to uncover the location of a missing boy named Kevi, whose twin sister, Mia, was badly injured in the explosion. Mc learns that Caleb is alive and is now Colonel of the Fleet.

It becomes clear that Caleb is hiding things from mc and that he changed a great deal. As they spend more time together, Caleb reveals that after the explosion, he was saved and joined the Farspace Fleet. Caleb was saved by a man named Professor Lucius(a scientist who has been modifying members of the Farspace Fleet and experimenting on humans). His experiments resulted in the unintended transformation of humans into Wanderers. As mc conducts her investigation into the secrets of the Farspace Fleet, she learns that each Fleet soldier has been modified with a device known as the Toring Chip(The Toring Chip is a mind-altering device that can suppress, override, and erase whole parts of a person's memories and personality). 

People affected by the Toring Chip are called Monsters by non-altered members of the Farspace Fleet, particularly the Fleet soldiers who refused the Chip. Mc assumes that Caleb's personality change is the result of a Toring Chip. Caleb says that he has always been a gloomy, possessive person underneath the surface and that the Chip did not alter him, because he no longer feels the need to hide that deep part of himself.

What Mc doesn't know is that Caleb is not just a member of the Farspace Fleet, but is also with the organization known as Ever, which has a connection to the experiments that the MC was subjected to as a child. Caleb has been tasked with infiltrating the Farspace Fleet at the orders of Professor Lucius and an unidentified, high-ranking member of Ever. It's revealed that Ever has been looking for the 'escaped child' they experimented on years ago and that Caleb has been tasked with finding her.

Caleb admits to mc that after the explosion, Professor Lucius offered to save his life in exchange for letting him modify Caleb's body. The result was that the bones and muscles in Caleb's right arm were replaced with machinery. When Caleb received his bionic arm, other alterations were made to his body, including the Toring Chip(Most people who have a Toring Chip lose all or some of their memories and personalities. Caleb's Adjutant, Liam, lost all memory of his wife except for one memory of the moment they parted).

Caleb really does mourn his inability to feel mc with that arm because he can no longer feel anything. 

Myth - Lucid Dreams

Mc is dispatched to Skyhaven to assess the risk of each soldier becoming a Wanderer or being affected by Protocore Syndrome.The Farspace Fleet, under Colonel Caleb's control, has assumed control of the Tuum Fleet and all Tuum Fleet members must assimilate into the Farspace Fleet. Mc learns that after the evaluation included a procedure where all Fleet members must opt to have a Toring Chip in their body. Mc confronts Caleb and realizes that all the soldiers who refused the Chip were sent away and 'disposed of.' Realizing that Caleb's new control over the Tuum Fleet puts him at risk of assassination, she tries to protect him. Frustrated that she doesn't understand the full extent of what the Chip is doing to Caleb's mind and body, she implants herself with the Toring Chip she found from his office. Mc and Caleb argue on the street. Caleb collapses after an extreme emotional response to their argument triggers the Toring Chip and erases his memories of her. Mc, whose personality is affected by the Toring Chip, tells Caleb that she's the most important person in his life and recreates moments from their childhood while his memory is incomplete. Eventually, Caleb comes to his senses and realizes that mc has injected a Chip into her arm and he doesn’t like this so, Caleb orders a surgical procedure to remove the Toring Chip from her body before it can do irreversible damage.

At the very end, Professor Lucius examines Caleb to see if he is still under the full control of the Toring Chip. However, while the chip still controls his bionic arm, it no longer has access to Caleb's memories. Caleb has sealed part of his brain from the chip's influence. The Professor and his Enforcer realize that Caleb's brain is absorbing and dismantling the chip's patrol protocol as if it were being sucked into a black hole. The Professor orders his Enforcer to find another way into that part of Caleb's brain.

Theories:

The reason Caleb failed his psych eval is never explicitly stated, but it very likely had to do with his attitude toward death and the unconventional reason he wanted to become a pilot.

It is implied that Caleb stopped taking the medications that he was prescribed after his accident in the deepspace tunnel, as there was a risk of addiction.

Caleb may have already joined the Fleet before returning in Homecoming Wings, as suggested by his Anecdote story. The exact time that he joined the fleet isn’t known though. 

The escaped child is most likely mc, whom Caleb has dedicated his entire life to protecting and whom he is currently keeping out of Ever's reach.

While it's unclear what Ever wants with mc, the story suggests that Caleb was modified to become a tool specifically designed to destroy her. At the end of Homecoming Wings Professor Lucius's inner monologue explains that eventually, Caleb's entire neural network will be replaced, making him an unfeeling weapon.

While mc is under the influence of the Toring Chip, she exhibits similarly overprotective and possessive behavior to Caleb's. This may be proof that despite Caleb's insistence, the Toring Chip fundamentally changes a person's personality. However I may just be looking too deep into it? I think before the explosion happened he already showed signs of being overprotective and possessive. I could talk about this topic literally all day so if you want me to I will!

I love him sm actually he is definitely one of my favorites! I'm not usually into men like him but yk it's Caleb! Whaaat murderrr?? Abt the baby sister thing tho....I think it was the translators fault. Some of these words like gege, and jiejie can mean that you are related to someone if you call them that! However it can also mean that you are just very close to that person. In English, we don't really have a word for that. It is weird! Incest is bad! However, I think it was just a mistake on their part(hopefully). If it wasn't, I think they should try to educate themselves more.

Sylus is a very mysterious guy. He keeps a lot of things to himself, so this again, might not be everything and I could’ve missed something in here. Let me know if I did.

Main story and abt him:

Bad guy genre but actually not bad guy. He is one of those morally grey characters however, in my opinion I don’t think he is a bad guy. While he's prone to violence, he does still have a moral code. Sylus honors his deals and oaths and never breaks a promise.

Sylus began Onychinus by buying and selling illegal Evol weapons and Protocores. While the N109 Zone is a lawless place where even the Hunters Association hesitates to go, there is a ruling body... of sorts? Onychinus has stepped in as the most influential faction in the N109 Zone and whatever Sylus says, goes. Basically he is the leader of a criminal organization. He managed to conquer the N109 Zone after traveling to Linkon City from another planet(Philos). Sylus brought wealth from planets and galaxies that he had pillaged. It's possible these riches were how he began his network of illegal armories and other unusual treasures.

Not much is known about Sylus' past, when mc meets him, he has just returned from a long, mysterious hiatus. Not even his organization, Onychinus knew where he was. While Sylus hasn't given many clues as to what his past life and childhood were like, a few clues arise in his Memory Cards and through various event stories(In the memory, No Way Out, Sylus admits that he played with real guns as a child, rather than toy guns). Although he does have some sort of connection with Philos, he isn't entirely human even by the genetically engineered standards of the Philosians, and is instead a descendant of a species of dragons found on that planet.

In the main story, Sylus also reveals to mc that he has a powerful Aether Core behind his eye that allows him to see a person's deepest desires. Apparently, they have also known each other since they were kids, Mc has forgotten this though, however when it is revealed, she remembers but her memories are still hazy.

When mc meets his eye, her thoughts repeatedly insist that Sylus belongs to her, that despite appearances she holds the power during their interactions, and that she can do whatever she chooses with him including, potentially destroying him.

Myth- Beyond Cloudfall

It's a little confusing, and complicated for even me, so I'm going to explain the memories in a very short and simple way! Back then, mc was an orphan on Philos. She was raised by the religious group in charge back then. This religious group turned on her, and they threw her into the abyss, sacrificing her. In here she meets and frees some type of bad guy. She snatched his soul and named him Sylus. While with him, she gives into her desires of revenge. Then they desire each other, too bad there is a dragon's curse but that also means that they will always find each other.

After falling in love with mc(a human sorceress sent to kill him). Sylus was cursed with a humanoid appearance that caused him to be shunned by others of his kind. The dragon's curse dooms Sylus to eventually kill mc in every incarnation he meets her in. However, Sylus repeatedly fights against this fate, and even successfully forces at least one version of the heroine to kill him before he can doom her, although his functional immortality eventually revives him. This provides a lot of explanatory context around his actions towards mc in the main story.

After his exile from the Philosian Dragons(who are now all extinct, with the exception of Sylus himself) he at some point managed to leave Philos and became an interstellar warlord, showing an aptitude for infiltrating and overtaking despotic regimes. Despite ending up imprisoned in the Supreme Interstellar Starship Tartarus for his crimes, Sylus became the only individual ever to escape from space-time prison

Sylus still remembers the other incarnations of mc that he's known; and his distress at learning that she retains no memories of her previous lives between reincarnations is the most pronounced. His attempts to force her to resonate with him when they meet is a desperate bid to make her remember him again conducted with Sylus' signature amorality, certainly, but nevertheless from his point of view justified by his devotion to her.

Theories and extra:

He does have immortality but I think it has its limits because he almost died that one time when they were in the desert. He doesn’t tell us the details about this either.. I know he can die and just revive. 

He is known as one of the most wanted criminals in philos history so I'm a little more curious about his past. I want to learn more. I don’t think I covered anything too much about it. 

What if it was an endless cycle of Sylus was always dying in our hands? And mc only remembers the other side of him..

Main story and abt him:

 Zayne went from Childhood friend to mc's heart doctor(a very successful doctor at that). Mc has heart disease, Zayne became a doctor for her. 

Zayne displays signs of losing control over his own evol. This usually happens when he's experiencing strong emotions or exertion!

Zayne is plagued by insomnia and nightmares. Surface level, it stems from an incident in their childhood when he lost control of his evol and accidentally harmed mc(very badly might I add and he still feels very guilty about this however mc has no memories about this) and, witnessing the death by a Wanderer infection of his friend and a colleague(Dr. William) during one of their research trips.

 Sometimes he has recurring nightmares and in them, Zayne sees through the eyes of an alternate version of himself, a man known as Dawnbreaker. In Dawnbreaker's world, Wanderers have completely taken over the streets, forcing people into their homes. (some of these wanderers were once human) Dawnbreaker hunts and kills these humans that turned into Wanderers. Zayne has seen each of Dawnbreaker's kills in his nightmares. Each one haunts him, and while he isn't the one to make those kills, he still considers Dawnbreaker's victims his own. 

  -    (Notes: Dawnbreaker is an incarnation of Zayne who lives many decades after the events of the main story. The crystals that infected William are the same ones that infect the people that Dawnbreaker kills. Zayne panics when he sees William undergo this transformation as he has seen Dawnbreaker kill these people. William begs Zayne to kill him, and Zayne doesn’t want to kill him, in fact he tries everything he can to prevent the spread so he doesn’t have to kill him but in the end he kills his friend, and he now lives with that blood on his hands and William's life on his conscience. He never wanted to kill anyone and he is still haunted by it)

Zayne also still researches the effects of protocores on humans. He and Dr. Noah, his former mentor(mc’s previous cardiologist), conducts this research in the Arctic.  The research focuses on saving people from the damaging side effects of protocores and on preventing certain protocore crystals from turning people into Wanderers. With this research, he and Dr. Noah has discovered ways to stop the progression of humans into wanderers by removing the infectious crystals.

While he loved and looked up to his parents(them being doctors), he was seldom around them. His parents' careers often took them abroad for long periods. Zayne was often alone and rarely spent birthdays or holidays with his family.

Myth - Tower Of Secrets:

Zayne is known as the Foreseer, the immortal divine emissary to the god Astra. He is an all-knowing seer who tells the future of the royal family by relaying it to the royal family's envoy.

Mc suffers from a disease known as Crioryasis, a deadly disease that slowly freezes a person from the inside out. Her only hope is to pose as the royal family's envoy and travel to the Tower of Thorns, where the Foreseer lives. She intends to steal the Creatio protocore from the Foreseer. The Creatio protocore is the only known cure for her illness. (The Creatio protocore is a protocore placed onto the Foreseer's staff by Astra themselves. The protocore lends the Foreseer Astra's power) She gets caught and Zayne punishes her by telling her to make a jasmine flower grow from a stone wall. He tells her that if she can make the Jasmine bloom, she may leave the Tower of Thorns alive. Mc agrees to these terms, believing she may find another opportunity to steal the protocore from him. Days pass. She manages to make it bloom and also she and Zayne become friends ...and maybe something more? (Zayne starts to believe that the jasmine bud represents his memories of the MC in every lifetime. He makes this connection upon watching the flower bloom. In all of his memories, Astra has erased the MC and replaced her with the jasmine. In every life, Zayne meets and falls in love with the MC, only for her to ultimately die).

Mc's heart suddenly starts to freeze. Zayne realizes that mc's illness is not a normal one and that Astra is the one who has sped up the progression of her Crioryasis. Zayne uses that time to confirm his suspicions that the MC is the jasmine in his memories. Though Astra forbade him from looking into his own destiny, Zayne unwinds the strands of fate and searches for the future of mc, as her life is eternally entwined with his.

Astra decides to punish Zayne by chaining him in the Tower. As he is restrained, icicles sharper than glass impale his body, unable to be removed entirely. The Mc comes upon Zayne shackled in the Tower and frees him, and decides that his life is worth more to her than curing her illness. Zayne reveals to her that her illness is caused by resonating with the Creatio protocore. As her life fades away, the protocore grows stronger. Because her fate is entwined with Zayne's, they are being punished together. Zayne gives her the Creatio protocore. In doing so, Astra's power becomes hers. The Mc panics when she realizes that by defying Astra, Zayne will be eternally punished. She clings to Zayne and tells him that no matter what happens, she will never forget him.

A blizzard rips through the Tower and mc is sent far away. Before Zayne is encased in ice and snow forever, he uses his remaining magic to give her a jasmine encased in ice, his promise is to never forget her.

Myth- Master of Fate:

A solitary Zayne takes in a version of the mc who has been excluded from her community due to her unstable evol powers.

 Despite the true purpose of his training being to kill the mc to protect the world from the danger her powers pose, the Master of Fate instead teaches her to better control her evol.

 Instead of killing her, he finally uses his own ice evol to place her in an unnatural sleep to protect her from harm. She awakes an unknown but impossibly long amount of time later to find him gone, and sets out to reunite with him. 

Theories and dialogue

It's noted multiple times that Zayne has scars covering his hands and forearms (which are actually visible on his character model if you look closely). Their cause hasn't been explicitly revealed in the story and Zayne claims to have no memory of how he got them, but later chapters show that overusing his Ice evol can have severe physical side effects of a kind not necessarily experienced by other Evolvers. This also could just be because he was restrained by Astra's thorns in his Farseer incarnation!

Tower Of Secrets: Although it isn’t really explicitly stated most people say that mc was frozen and covered in snow as well after the blizzard when she got blown away.

Main story Zayne doesn't seem to share memories with his Myth counterparts, at least, not nearly to the same degree as with his Dawnbreaker alternate self. I think it's implied that he doesn’t remember any of the myths, but his actions and emotions are heavily influenced by the patterns of love, loss, and sacrifice from the myth timelines. My theory is- He doesn’t remember but his heart, mind, and body does!

From World Underneath story, Longly Flame:(implied abt Zayne harming mc and why he is doctor)

"I heard your parents are also doctors. You chose the medical field to follow in their footsteps, right?"

Zayne smiled. "Yes. Even the bedtime stories they told me during my childhood were about the hospital. Most of the things at home that I could use to kill time were medical textbooks, too. So, I was influenced by them."

"Is there another reason?"

"No."

"That was too quick of a response. Besides, the way you're obsessing over this doesn't seem like there's only one reason."

Zayne was quiet for a long time, the sound of his footsteps carried away by the wind. Just when Dr. Noah thought Zayne wouldn't answer him, he spoke up.

"It's also… because of… someone."

Dr. Noah kind of expected that. He stopped walking and turned to look at his student, who rarely opened up about his feelings. He saw Zayne standing alone in the first snowfall of that winter.

"I don't want to be incapable of doing anything again when I become a threat to her."

Honestly, I think I could properly yap about Zayne the whole day if I could! People say that he's not that interesting, and others say he is boring and too cold. My response to that is, do they even know who Zayne is? He is never cold when he is with MC; in fact, he is always very gentle with her. He does run a strict program, but he goes about it in a gentle way. I think the reason why people like him is because he has a lot of duality. In public, he is very standoffish, and he can come off as rude or cold. In private, he shows more vulnerable moments, and he is more affectionate and caring. The reason why I find him interesting is because I can relate to him on a lot of different levels. Anyways I will try to post one about Sylus later! Here is Calebs.

I think this is where we see Caleb take on a more protective role for Mc. This is the stem of his belief that keeping her safe will always justify the means, even if it means isolating her against her will.

After graduating from school in Skyhaven, Caleb entered the military as a fighter pilot in the Deepspace Aviation Administration (DAA) which is a highly secretive military organization(keep in mind that Caleb didn’t see gran or mc for several months at a time during flight school). The thing is Caleb never actually graduated from Deepspace Academy. While Caleb excelled in all physical evaluations and was pretty much always at the top of his class, he barely passed his psychiatric evaluation and was recommended to speak with a psychiatric professional based on his test scores. 

For his final Flight Exam, Caleb encountered an unidentified electromagnetic radiation flux and his ship was thrown off course, resulting in the loss of his navigational system and comms. Caleb is unable to return home. Everyone thinks he is dead. One week later, Caleb crash lands on a floating island near Skyhaven, bloodied and severely injured. He's taken to the hospital and, after one month, makes a full recovery(It's unclear if the electromagnetic radiation affected his recovery in any way. No one knows what Caleb really experienced in the Deepspace Tunnel, also Caleb does not tell mc abt any of this). 

Caleb admits to one of the DAA students that while he was adrift in the Tunnel for days, he eventually chose to give up and accept his death by turning off his rescue beacon. He also admits that even though he had given up, he was terrified of dying and being separated from mc. 

Although he did survive, Caleb now suffers from dissociative amnesia and recurrent nightmares. He was put on prescription painkillers and sedatives. Caleb's dreams and amnesia worsened after returning home(Dissociative amnesia is a type of amnesia that causes memory loss and may make a person forget personal info and events. This type of amnesia is sometimes the result of a traumatic experience).

He did not officially graduate from the Academy(because of his final flight exam incident). He was listed as a secondary candidate who would graduate upon retaking and passing his final flight exam. He never told his family. He did not retake it though instead, Caleb submitted a transfer request to another organization. Though not explicitly stated, it is assumed that he transferred to the Farspace Fleet.

Caleb and Gram go boom both are apparently dead, and mc vows to find the person behind the attack. The only thing mc has to remember him is the necklace that Caleb left behind. 

Caleb makes his return in Homecoming Wings, his main story branch. After being dispatched to Skyhaven to investigate an explosion similar to the one that destroyed her house, mc impersonates a Farspace Fleet soldier and infiltrates their ranks. Mc’s goal is to uncover the location of a missing boy named Kevi, whose twin sister, Mia, was badly injured in the explosion. Mc learns that Caleb is alive and is now Colonel of the Fleet.

It becomes clear that Caleb is hiding things from mc and that he changed a great deal. As they spend more time together, Caleb reveals that after the explosion, he was saved and joined the Farspace Fleet. Caleb was saved by a man named Professor Lucius(a scientist who has been modifying members of the Farspace Fleet and experimenting on humans). His experiments resulted in the unintended transformation of humans into Wanderers. As mc conducts her investigation into the secrets of the Farspace Fleet, she learns that each Fleet soldier has been modified with a device known as the Toring Chip(The Toring Chip is a mind-altering device that can suppress, override, and erase whole parts of a person's memories and personality). 

People affected by the Toring Chip are called Monsters by non-altered members of the Farspace Fleet, particularly the Fleet soldiers who refused the Chip. Mc assumes that Caleb's personality change is the result of a Toring Chip. Caleb says that he has always been a gloomy, possessive person underneath the surface and that the Chip did not alter him, because he no longer feels the need to hide that deep part of himself.

What Mc doesn't know is that Caleb is not just a member of the Farspace Fleet, but is also with the organization known as Ever, which has a connection to the experiments that the MC was subjected to as a child. Caleb has been tasked with infiltrating the Farspace Fleet at the orders of Professor Lucius and an unidentified, high-ranking member of Ever. It's revealed that Ever has been looking for the 'escaped child' they experimented on years ago and that Caleb has been tasked with finding her.

Caleb admits to mc that after the explosion, Professor Lucius offered to save his life in exchange for letting him modify Caleb's body. The result was that the bones and muscles in Caleb's right arm were replaced with machinery. When Caleb received his bionic arm, other alterations were made to his body, including the Toring Chip(Most people who have a Toring Chip lose all or some of their memories and personalities. Caleb's Adjutant, Liam, lost all memory of his wife except for one memory of the moment they parted).

Caleb really does mourn his inability to feel mc with that arm because he can no longer feel anything. 

Myth - Lucid Dreams

Mc is dispatched to Skyhaven to assess the risk of each soldier becoming a Wanderer or being affected by Protocore Syndrome.The Farspace Fleet, under Colonel Caleb's control, has assumed control of the Tuum Fleet and all Tuum Fleet members must assimilate into the Farspace Fleet. Mc learns that after the evaluation included a procedure where all Fleet members must opt to have a Toring Chip in their body. Mc confronts Caleb and realizes that all the soldiers who refused the Chip were sent away and 'disposed of.' Realizing that Caleb's new control over the Tuum Fleet puts him at risk of assassination, she tries to protect him. Frustrated that she doesn't understand the full extent of what the Chip is doing to Caleb's mind and body, she implants herself with the Toring Chip she found from his office. Mc and Caleb argue on the street. Caleb collapses after an extreme emotional response to their argument triggers the Toring Chip and erases his memories of her. Mc, whose personality is affected by the Toring Chip, tells Caleb that she's the most important person in his life and recreates moments from their childhood while his memory is incomplete. Eventually, Caleb comes to his senses and realizes that mc has injected a Chip into her arm and he doesn’t like this so, Caleb orders a surgical procedure to remove the Toring Chip from her body before it can do irreversible damage.

At the very end, Professor Lucius examines Caleb to see if he is still under the full control of the Toring Chip. However, while the chip still controls his bionic arm, it no longer has access to Caleb's memories. Caleb has sealed part of his brain from the chip's influence. The Professor and his Enforcer realize that Caleb's brain is absorbing and dismantling the chip's patrol protocol as if it were being sucked into a black hole. The Professor orders his Enforcer to find another way into that part of Caleb's brain.

Theories:

The reason Caleb failed his psych eval is never explicitly stated, but it very likely had to do with his attitude toward death and the unconventional reason he wanted to become a pilot.

It is implied that Caleb stopped taking the medications that he was prescribed after his accident in the deepspace tunnel, as there was a risk of addiction.

Caleb may have already joined the Fleet before returning in Homecoming Wings, as suggested by his Anecdote story. The exact time that he joined the fleet isn’t known though. 

The escaped child is most likely mc, whom Caleb has dedicated his entire life to protecting and whom he is currently keeping out of Ever's reach.

While it's unclear what Ever wants with mc, the story suggests that Caleb was modified to become a tool specifically designed to destroy her. At the end of Homecoming Wings Professor Lucius's inner monologue explains that eventually, Caleb's entire neural network will be replaced, making him an unfeeling weapon.

While mc is under the influence of the Toring Chip, she exhibits similarly overprotective and possessive behavior to Caleb's. This may be proof that despite Caleb's insistence, the Toring Chip fundamentally changes a person's personality. However I may just be looking too deep into it? I think before the explosion happened he already showed signs of being overprotective and possessive. I could talk about this topic literally all day so if you want me to I will!

Lore n Theories: Zayne

I made this to help other people(and myself) understand the lore better because it can be very confusing! -Spoilers for main story, cards, anecdotes and myths in LADS!

Background info:

All of the LI routes are canon within the main story, meaning there is no right or wrong route in the main story(No love interest is “the canon ending” because all of them are canon). 

The theories in here are pretty much 90% accurate(pretty sure it's canon however there has been no confirmation) , however they will be in a separated section. 

The main story is still on going and to be frank with you, this probably isn’t everything simply because, Infold hasn’t given us everything. If there are any updates on his story(as of 5.0), I will try to update this though!

Zayne is perhaps the one with the fewest secrets(when it comes to keeping things from mc), although he is still reluctant to discuss info about his research trips to the Arctic. That's not to say that Zayne doesn't have at least as much going on as the others. He is like the mc, he can't consciously recall most of it.

I will only go over important things in this(contributed toward his character, life, powers, etc.)! If you want something more in depth like an analysis(or breaking down more of his lore) let me know! Also if I got anything wrong or if there is any more theories any of you would like to share please tell me!

Main story and abt him:

 Zayne went from Childhood friend to mc's heart doctor(a very successful doctor at that). Mc has heart disease, Zayne became a doctor for her. 

Zayne displays signs of losing control over his own evol. This usually happens when he's experiencing strong emotions or exertion!

Zayne is plagued by insomnia and nightmares. Surface level, it stems from an incident in their childhood when he lost control of his evol and accidentally harmed mc(very badly might I add and he still feels very guilty about this however mc has no memories about this) and, witnessing the death by a Wanderer infection of his friend and a colleague(Dr. William) during one of their research trips.

 Sometimes he has recurring nightmares and in them, Zayne sees through the eyes of an alternate version of himself, a man known as Dawnbreaker. In Dawnbreaker's world, Wanderers have completely taken over the streets, forcing people into their homes. (some of these wanderers were once human) Dawnbreaker hunts and kills these humans that turned into Wanderers. Zayne has seen each of Dawnbreaker's kills in his nightmares. Each one haunts him, and while he isn't the one to make those kills, he still considers Dawnbreaker's victims his own. 

  -    (Notes: Dawnbreaker is an incarnation of Zayne who lives many decades after the events of the main story. The crystals that infected William are the same ones that infect the people that Dawnbreaker kills. Zayne panics when he sees William undergo this transformation as he has seen Dawnbreaker kill these people. William begs Zayne to kill him, and Zayne doesn’t want to kill him, in fact he tries everything he can to prevent the spread so he doesn’t have to kill him but in the end he kills his friend, and he now lives with that blood on his hands and William's life on his conscience. He never wanted to kill anyone and he is still haunted by it)

Zayne also still researches the effects of protocores on humans. He and Dr. Noah, his former mentor(mc’s previous cardiologist), conducts this research in the Arctic.  The research focuses on saving people from the damaging side effects of protocores and on preventing certain protocore crystals from turning people into Wanderers. With this research, he and Dr. Noah has discovered ways to stop the progression of humans into wanderers by removing the infectious crystals.

While he loved and looked up to his parents(them being doctors), he was seldom around them. His parents' careers often took them abroad for long periods. Zayne was often alone and rarely spent birthdays or holidays with his family.

Myth - Tower Of Secrets:

Zayne is known as the Foreseer, the immortal divine emissary to the god Astra. He is an all-knowing seer who tells the future of the royal family by relaying it to the royal family's envoy.

Mc suffers from a disease known as Crioryasis, a deadly disease that slowly freezes a person from the inside out. Her only hope is to pose as the royal family's envoy and travel to the Tower of Thorns, where the Foreseer lives. She intends to steal the Creatio protocore from the Foreseer. The Creatio protocore is the only known cure for her illness. (The Creatio protocore is a protocore placed onto the Foreseer's staff by Astra themselves. The protocore lends the Foreseer Astra's power) She gets caught and Zayne punishes her by telling her to make a jasmine flower grow from a stone wall. He tells her that if she can make the Jasmine bloom, she may leave the Tower of Thorns alive. Mc agrees to these terms, believing she may find another opportunity to steal the protocore from him. Days pass. She manages to make it bloom and also she and Zayne become friends ...and maybe something more? (Zayne starts to believe that the jasmine bud represents his memories of the MC in every lifetime. He makes this connection upon watching the flower bloom. In all of his memories, Astra has erased the MC and replaced her with the jasmine. In every life, Zayne meets and falls in love with the MC, only for her to ultimately die).

Mc's heart suddenly starts to freeze. Zayne realizes that mc's illness is not a normal one and that Astra is the one who has sped up the progression of her Crioryasis. Zayne uses that time to confirm his suspicions that the MC is the jasmine in his memories. Though Astra forbade him from looking into his own destiny, Zayne unwinds the strands of fate and searches for the future of mc, as her life is eternally entwined with his.

Astra decides to punish Zayne by chaining him in the Tower. As he is restrained, icicles sharper than glass impale his body, unable to be removed entirely. The Mc comes upon Zayne shackled in the Tower and frees him, and decides that his life is worth more to her than curing her illness. Zayne reveals to her that her illness is caused by resonating with the Creatio protocore. As her life fades away, the protocore grows stronger. Because her fate is entwined with Zayne's, they are being punished together. Zayne gives her the Creatio protocore. In doing so, Astra's power becomes hers. The Mc panics when she realizes that by defying Astra, Zayne will be eternally punished. She clings to Zayne and tells him that no matter what happens, she will never forget him.

A blizzard rips through the Tower and mc is sent far away. Before Zayne is encased in ice and snow forever, he uses his remaining magic to give her a jasmine encased in ice, his promise is to never forget her.

Myth- Master of Fate:

A solitary Zayne takes in a version of the mc who has been excluded from her community due to her unstable evol powers.

 Despite the true purpose of his training being to kill the mc to protect the world from the danger her powers pose, the Master of Fate instead teaches her to better control her evol.

 Instead of killing her, he finally uses his own ice evol to place her in an unnatural sleep to protect her from harm. She awakes an unknown but impossibly long amount of time later to find him gone, and sets out to reunite with him. 

Theories and dialogue

It's noted multiple times that Zayne has scars covering his hands and forearms (which are actually visible on his character model if you look closely). Their cause hasn't been explicitly revealed in the story and Zayne claims to have no memory of how he got them, but later chapters show that overusing his Ice evol can have severe physical side effects of a kind not necessarily experienced by other Evolvers. This also could just be because he was restrained by Astra's thorns in his Farseer incarnation!

Tower Of Secrets: Although it isn’t really explicitly stated most people say that mc was frozen and covered in snow as well after the blizzard when she got blown away.

Main story Zayne doesn't seem to share memories with his Myth counterparts, at least, not nearly to the same degree as with his Dawnbreaker alternate self. I think it's implied that he doesn’t remember any of the myths, but his actions and emotions are heavily influenced by the patterns of love, loss, and sacrifice from the myth timelines. My theory is- He doesn’t remember but his heart, mind, and body does!

From World Underneath story, Longly Flame:(implied abt Zayne harming mc and why he is doctor)

"I heard your parents are also doctors. You chose the medical field to follow in their footsteps, right?"

Zayne smiled. "Yes. Even the bedtime stories they told me during my childhood were about the hospital. Most of the things at home that I could use to kill time were medical textbooks, too. So, I was influenced by them."

"Is there another reason?"

"No."

"That was too quick of a response. Besides, the way you're obsessing over this doesn't seem like there's only one reason."

Zayne was quiet for a long time, the sound of his footsteps carried away by the wind. Just when Dr. Noah thought Zayne wouldn't answer him, he spoke up.

"It's also… because of… someone."

Dr. Noah kind of expected that. He stopped walking and turned to look at his student, who rarely opened up about his feelings. He saw Zayne standing alone in the first snowfall of that winter.

"I don't want to be incapable of doing anything again when I become a threat to her."
