She leans in closer and the scent hits her ten-fold, senses alight with the drugs in her system. Everything is lit up, her brain firing at a speed it never does sober. Blue eclipsed by inky black is hyper focused on lips, ears perked to take in what Sybella is saying. Adventure, she wants to go on an adventure. Adventure meant outside, under the moon, amongst the galaxies.

The hair on her arms nearly stand on end at the thought of the moon, the itch to turn always at the back of her mind. The freedom fur and fang brings. But no need to scare away the witch. She squeezes lightly at elegant fingers, smile turning broad again. She downs what is left in her cup and tosses it behind herself in disregard to be trampled most likely.

"It isn't an adventure if you know the outcome." She says with a giddy need to get into the night air. Taking advantage of their joined hands she starts leading them towards the exit. Shove people out of the way easily, not caring about anything but the magnet electricity that tingles from every point their joined hands bring.

She laughs, and lets Zoë pull her away. There’s so much fun in mystery — she doesn’t see everything (or even most things), but it’s so nice to have some complete and utter unknowns to experience.

Somewhere along their path to the exit, Sybella remembers she came here with others. With Zoë leading the way for them, she pulls out her phone with her free hand and fumbles a quick text to her sister. Just enough to let her know she’s going somewhere. Then she slides her phone back into a pocket.

The thrum of music and people can still be heard from outside, but it’s quieter. It’s an intoxicating void, that sudden lack of stimulation, and she’s eager to fill it. She draws closer to the other woman. “It’s so beautiful out tonight,” she says, squeezing her hand. Maybe the adventure is wandering together, or maybe Zoë has a more specific destination in mind — but she’s got her own hopes for where things will lead.

She isn't sure where the sleeves of her sweater have gone, nor if she had pulled them off or someone else, but it doesn't matter because it had been too hot anyway. She isn't exactly sure how many of the little tabs she's had stuck on her tongue, but she feels great. Everything is great. She swears she can feel the music pulsing through her body, pupils blown and a cup of something cheap, but effective in her hand.

She's at the makeshift bar when a new sensation starts to prickle across the skin of her arm. It feels like silk, the kind that feels like water against the skin, pooling across the nerves, and then there is a voice to match the sensation. Equally as silken and sweet. Floral and magnetic, something crisp and fresh underneath, warm. When her eyes catch Sybella's she can't help but smile, it's dopey and clearly intoxicated, but real nonetheless.

"You should have. My number is for you to use anytime" Her grin turns to a smirk as she looks down at the hand still on her arm, then back to her face. "I lost my sleeves…and my sister's bow." She chuckles at the fact before leaning in slightly, "You look good too. Really good." She says unabashedly. Eyes run over the brunette's body, "Do you want to dance, or are you in the mood for an adventure?"

Sybella smiles and ghosts her hand down Zoë’s arm, until their fingers brush. She’s not this brave on her own, but there’s something warm brewing in her gut and a fuzzy feeling in her head all convincing her this is a good idea.

Her expression lights up at the invitation — “Oh, an adventure,” she answers. “I’d like to go on an adventure.” There’s no room for anxiety to take root, not when there’s someone so beautiful here in front of her and so much in her system. She twines their fingers together and leans in closer to Zoë. “Do I get to know, or is it a surprise?”

“Oh, there’s so many fun and strange things in theatre history! It’s incredible, though, that the first event to really popularize Shakespeare had no performances of his plays. I mean, the event was labeled a success and skyrocketed his fame, but most everything meant to happen was rained out! But people were still convinced enough to keep it going in future years, and that’s what made him such a prominent name. David Garrick really pulled off one of the management jobs in theatre history there.”

Despite her quiet, reserved appearances, Sybella loves a party. (Come on, she’s a theatre kid!) She’s abstained from the harder substances she's seen around the rave, but she can still indulge in a bit of a high here. Her sister is here, her abuela is here, and surely some of the coven members she's met so far are, too. She'll be fine.

Speaking of fine.

She’s feeing bold enough to brush her fingertips against Zoë’s arm as she comes up on the woman — gentle, but not imposing. “Hi,” she says, with a warm smile. There’s a buzz under her skin, and she feels like she’s exuding heat. “I should’ve let you know I had a night off. It’s good to see you!” Her touch lingers on Zoë’s arm, emboldened by the liquor and the high she’s riding. “You look great.”

where: the halloween rave when: earlyish in the night

TREAT: You find a witch's pouch on the floor and it's got a set of teeth in it. Solid gold ones. They're even clean! Mixed in with all the glittering horror though is an OLD KEY ITEM!

“Uhm, did anyone drop—“

She stops herself mid-calling out. There’s no way anyone is going to hear her. She’d be better off finding a Lost and Found, but glancing around reveals nothing of that in her vicinity. The bag’s contents clatter in her hand, and she’s admittedly curious about what’s inside.

Sybella finds a table, and hesitantly scatters some of the contents out to look at. She blinks and looks closely. Surely she’s mistaken… no, nope. Those are definitely teeth, even if they’re gold. She decides against rooting around in the bag, and instead dumps out the rest onto the table, because something still feels oddly heavy in there…

Sybella picks up the gem and turns it over in her hand. Odd…

With no small amount of reluctance, she slides the gold teeth back into their pouch. Frankly, whoever dropped this didn’t deserve it back (who brought a bag of teeth to a party??), so disposing of it was the next best option.

Abuela could probably make sense of all this. At the very least, they’d probably be happy to take the teeth off her hands. Sybella weaves through the crowd until she finds them, and offers the bag over. “It’s gold teeth,” she explains, and sure enough, Arc eagerly accepts the gift. They have a few suggestions for what the stone could mean, and after a minute to look it over, they pass it back and give their best assumption.

A favor from a hunter doesn’t sound too bad to have on hand…

She gives Arc her thanks and a happy Halloween before wandering back off again, losing herself in the crowd to try and enjoy this party tonight.

“Hey vampire or not a circle is a circle and we all need them,” Thera smiled, she had been a woman of many circles, hopping from place to place circle to circle, all of different supernatural and human configurations. A support system was a support system and she hoped Sybella’s new found circle of nightwalkers was just that for her.

“I’ll admit this is the longest I’ve stayed in one sphere and really attempted to make myself apart of the coven community.” She smiled, “But yeah this little Augury branch is good, we have some good witches behind us.” Thera smiled as she nodded. It had been nice, getting to know the members of this branch better. "And being part of a coven, at least this one," because Thera was aware that the openess of augury was not typical of all coven's, "just be yourself."

Thera smiled. “And if you ever need anything, I’m here.” There gestured to the store, “Coven or not its kinda my job to be helpful.”

"True... I just hope they're a good circle." Theatre people were already a gamble at times, and vampires were something else entirely. There were times she felt like a lamb in a lion's den. "I'm finding out, I guess."

She rolled the stone bones in her hand, feeling them jangle against each other. "That's good to hear... my sister's part of Lindon, and I grew up around them, but... I've never really connected with Augury in the past. But my abuela's a part of it, and she's in town for awhile, so that makes it easier." The advice and offer of help was reassuring. "Thank you. I'd really like to meet everyone, at least, as many as I can. I'm Sybella, by the way. León. It's really nice to meet you!" She looked back up at Thera. "How long have you been in town?"

“Good, good. If they get too troublesome, let me know. I have some pull with the clans in this town, something could be figured out.” Arc said, giving Sybella one more once-over to reassure themself that she truly was fine. It was terrifying, at times, the way she was sometimes reminded just how much her grandchildren were like little parts of Arc’s own heart, walking around with minds of their own. 

“How has everything else been? Does the town suit you? The magic here is different, it might be affecting your visions.” It came with the territory, being so close to such a major leyline with Arc’s blood in Sybella’s veins. "Divination magic is always so suggestible in placed like this."

"Yes, abluela, I'll let you know if there's ever too much trouble. I've handled things okay so far, though," she said, combing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Most everyone's stayed diplomatic." Too diplomatic, sometimes - the peace bordered on unsettling at times.

"Everything's been fine," Sybella replied. "I think it suits me, it's just... so different from..." she hesitated on home and instead finished it, "Georgia. Everything's just so much more here, more supernatural than I've ever dealt with before. I've... I haven't seen much, lately, but I haven't been trying, exactly. I'm working on it." She traced her finger along the edge of the menu. "What about it makes it so much more suggestible? Are places really that... powerful?"

She had said it was a while. But really, she struggled to pin down the last time she had seen something actually professional, maybe a child? She had hazy memories of going with her parents. Only once, she thought it best not to dig up those memories. At least not in the middle of a shift. She could be existential later. 

She smiled enthusiastically. “I might actually take you up on that.” Though she worried about nicer seats being wasted on her. Still, it was rude to outright refuse and this was a good networking opportunity. She wasn't sure what sort of connection she would need with a theatre, better safe than sorry was good motivation. Besides, the holidays were around the corner, and this could count as a nice gift to herself. “Do you have a production lined up you are more excited for than the others? Or is that an impossible question?”

“Good!” Sybella said, cocking her head ever so slightly. Maybe there was something to be suggested in the way of show-inspired drinks, but ideas like that needed to hold for a touch more thought to be put into them. (Although, that would be very appropriate for White Christmas… and maybe for Hurricane Diane, with all the florals— think about this later, Sybella, conversation happening.)

The question makes her grin. “Well… I’m partial to West Side Story, but that’s not til spring. Honestly, I'm excited for them all... I guess The Importance of Being Earnest is kind of like my brainchild, since that's kicking off our civic theatre program I've been championing. I'd be lying if I said I loved every show the same, but I think they all fit well into the season, and they're all good shows! The one we just opened is a lot of fun, too, it's a musical that lets the audience vote on the ending..."

(Oh my god, you're talking too much.)

Sybella blinks. "Sorry! Wow, got carried away. Just call the theatre and ask for me when there's something you want to see."

        allie makes it off the stool with her found object in hand, safe and sound, letting out a sweet, triumphant little sound before putting the vial back in its home. it makes perfect sense to allie that grumpy little herbs trapped in bottles would hop around and hide places- but maybe they’d been moved by witches, and she’d just forgotten. to be fair, she does do an awful lot of forgetting. it’s gotten a little better because of that lovely little notebook she keeps for the magic things … oh, now, where had that gone-

        “ just, like, for funsies? ”  her smile softens a bit, head tipping, content to let her explore without a chirping bird over her shoulder.  “ way fair, that’s what i spend, like, all day doing. it’s super easy to get lost, ‘cause there’s all these curious little things ... ”  as she talks, allie leans in, looking along the shelves. her eyes dancing with interest, but she snaps back to the other woman who had wandered in- a hand fluttering to her shoulder. her finger tips feel the familiar, fleeting, brush of enchanting warmth beneath them. barely there, they're not so close, and allie's not so good at really knowing anything for sure- but she knows she felt it. she’s a witch too, she must be.

         allie shakes her head, giggling, and her hands find their way back to themselves.  “ anyways, let me know if there’s anything i can help with. like, at all! ”

“Uhm…” she traces her fingers along a display shelf as she looks. “Sort of? It’s a little more of, ‘I don’t really know what I’m looking for’. This is kind of new to me?” Sybella glances back over at the other woman. There’s a sense of familiarity, and not just because the employee is so chipper & friendly. “Not— I mean, the… trinkets and herbs stuff, not….”

(She can practically hear Jace telling her to breathe and slow down. It’s just hard, at times, to think of words when sign comes so much easier.)

She takes a deep breath and tries again. “I want to learn more about this kind of witchcraft,” she says. “I… don’t have a lot of control over what I do, so… I want to try some other things, and see if helps me… I don’t know. Be more mindful? Do you do, like… beginner kits? Or at least have some recommendations on where to start?”

“I believe in you,” Charlotte signed and smiled, “I worked at a werewolf bar when we lived back here too,” Charlotte wiggled her eyebrows at her sister, “Papa was not pleased but that probably had less to do with the wolves than with the fact that I was about 14 but its just people.” Cause it was, monsters came in all shapes and forms, she knew better than most, and were not confined based on supernatural dispensation.

Plus who wouldn’t love Sybie, “Use your common sense and everything should be fine, plus Abuela is in town.” Charlotte never wanted to rely on anyone but, again, she knew better than most that their grandfather had resources and contacts at their disposal, if her sister needed  a get out of jail card, “they will take care of you if you need it.”

She smiled as she walked, “Now dinner, what about Lucky Cat? Soup and noodles sound good to you?”

"A werewolf bar?" She repeats, searching her memory to see if she knows any of this. Most of her early life in this town, though, only exists in the stories her sister shares. It’s a strange sort of feeling to hear of her sister working so young — Charlotte’s always been a caretaker, and a hard worker, but it’s such a reminder of how hard things have been for their family. “Wow… do you know a lot of werewolves here?”

She smiles at the reminders. “I know, I know… I’m being careful.” Sometimes, it felt like careful wasn’t enough, though… “I’m glad they’re around, but… hopefully I won’t need them to interfere. We’ve got dinner planned for… sometime. We’re finding a time, once things calm down.”

She smiles back to her sister. God, just a few years ago, the idea of being able to grab dinner with Charlotte was a fantasy. “Soup and noodles sounds amazing right now.”

"Ain't that the damn truth." He murmurs, as he follows her into her office. They can find approximations of what they like to call 'soul food style' restaurants up here, but nothing beats mom's or gramma's stuff any day. Hands in his pockets, he takes his time to look around the room and take it in - not too big, but comfortable. It's exactly the sort of place he'd expect to find his cousin in.

He does laugh, though, and almost tells her to breathe again - but decides instead to just go with the flow of it. "There's been a fair share of your bog-standard weird bites and animal attacks, and most supe types you get will be y'know, witches." He gestures between the two of them, "Or a wolf sometimes. Helped set a guys shoulder back in place not too long ago - werewolf guy, I mean. Haven't treated a vampire yet."

Jace finds himself grimacing at that. "Though, from what I know about vamps, their treatment probably wouldn't be all that fun for me."

Sybella trucks right along, though, and he turns from wandering the room with his gaze to keep intense focus on her features and lips as the words form to make sure he's catching every bit of it - habit from Charlotte. "Points for no one trying to eat you."

He doesn't understand the nitty gritty of performing arts, but he loves hearing her talk about it. "You need any coven help or anything, you lemme know, and I can put out some feelers for you." With Lindon leader-less now after the Fengs dipped outta town, he's a little more apprehensive about the state of things - but he's also trying to keep a finger on the pulse. While he talks, he goes over to get himself a mug, too. "But yeah, no, nothing really super crazy yet. 'Course, I've heard rumors and stuff but nothing concrete. Honestly, kinda glad about that? I know it's only a matter of time, though."

Sybella winces at the idea of resetting someone’s shoulder — god, there’s a reason she never touched the medical field. “I don’t envy you there,” she says. “Looking at… bites and scratches and injuries all day. I don’t know how you stand it.”

It would make sense that any sort of treatment for vampires would involve taking blood, and she’s heard enough to know that witch blood has a strong allure for them. “Aww, don’t say that,” she says, mostly playful, and knocks on the wood of the little table as she mixes sugar into her coffee. “Gotta be careful what you manifest in a space like this.”

She doesn’t fully understand what’s been happening in town, all the rumbles starting right around her arrival. But everything sounds a little rocky. “Thanks… abuela’s a good connection to Augury, and I’m trying to reach out to the others I’ve heard of so far. But it’d be nice to meet other witches! I mean, I know you, and some of your family, but…” she shrugs. “I don’t know, I guess I’ve always felt like magic just happens to me, and maybe knowing more people will let me figure out how to make everything less incidental, and more… intentional.”

Sybella’s glad to hear he hasn’t had it too riugh, yet. She’s heard rumors about Port Leiry, and she can only imagine how much more doesn’t make it to outside ears. “Well… an easy start is the best anyone can ask for. You think it’s gonna get crazier when October hits? Halloween and all that?” …what did she just say about manifesting. Sybella knocks on the table again. “I just mean, I imagine there’ll be more people in town for spooky season, given the town’s whole… deal.”

Sybella Leòn | Halloween Costume

Way down, Hadestown! Happy to be back with her family, Sybella’s arranged a group costume with her sister & abuela to fit the theme. The witch is still settling into life in Port Leiry, but tonight is a great chance to let loose and have some fun.

“Overdramatic vampires?” Arc arched an eyebrow. “The Titan isn’t too far into vampiric territory, is it?” 

It had been a long time since they’d encountered a city like this, so full of night life and wolves that there were territory lines drawn, contracts and communication between organized communities. It was, in some ways, a microcosm of the more organised supernatural world Arc hoped to live in some day, but it had its own drawbacks. Unknowing witches buying property on vampiric land, for example. “Are you endangered by it? Are you keeping your verbena charms close? Your father always forgot his, we had to infuse it into buttons and sew them on his clothes.”

"Well..." she hesitated. "I'm not... sure? I don't really know what the territory lines are. But a lot of the staff and performers are vampires. I knew that going in, though, they didn't spring that on me."

Obviously, she hadn't fully understood what she was throwing herself into, but she could figure it out.

"Yes, abuela, I keep the charm on me all the time." As much as she wanted to duck out of the overly-protective questioning, Sybella knew that Arc really was just looking out for her. "I'm including it in my drinks too. I'm not endangered, I'm doing fine. I've been getting along well with the staff, and I think we're moving forward in a direction that everyone's happy with." Minus a handful of unhappy participants, but so far the tentative peace had been kept.

The tidbit about her dad did bring the smile back to her face. "I promise you won't have to go that far. But no bites taken out of me so far, so I think it's okay to say I'm handling things so far."

"Yeah, an older one, I have an older brother too. But he doesn't live here." She thinks to herself that she hopes Casper doesn't come here looking for her if it's discovered she left Switzerland behind in favor of seeking Felicity out. She knows he'll try to send her back, and honestly she really is a grown woman and tired of being bossed around and told what to do like some puppy who needs house sitting. She smiles at how cute it is the way the other stumbles over her words, keen eyes taking in the user and adding it into her Instagram and following. "I like your profile pic, very cute." She compliments, because it's true, Sybella is cute. Very cute.

"Yeah, I'm definitely looking for friends too. I haven't really been in the states for a long while, so things have really changed since then. And before that, I guess you could say I was a pretty sheltered kid. Private schools and all that." It was weird to think, out of all the siblings she can't remember a time she wasn't under her parents' watch in one way or another. She had a daily schedule, a list of people she could and couldn't converse with, a private driver who never really talked to her. But it had always seemed so natural. She was her mother's baby girl, her father's princess. And the luxuries, gifts, and attention she could be showered with all seemed worth following their guidelines. Because as long as she did? Well then Zoë could do no wrong.

She nods at the idea of keeping company out at night, she knew better than to draw suspicions, but to be fair if she wasn't with someone she'd met, or normally hung around, at night she had no worry about going out alone, she could technically rip into anyone who tried anything. But hanging out with the witch at night sounded way better. "Agreed." She picks up her phone deciding on a better way to get her point across, when Sybella doesn't seem to bite. Air dropping her number to what she hopes is the brunette's phone.

"For the nights you want to…explore." She says with a smile, she plays with the device in her hands. "I think all art is subjective, anyone can do it, as long as they can accept the freedom of it all."

"Thank you," she says, and when she turns her phone back to herself, she hits follow back as the notification pops up. "Yours is cute, too."

Sybella nods at her words like she understands the struggles of private schools. "Ah, yeah... I can imagine that would be quite a change. Where have you been living, then?" Georgia to here was enough adjustment for her as it was, and the only reason she'd felt any sense of comfort in moving here was for the family she had in the area.

There's a lot of things in this city that add a touch more danger to people's nights, and as her phone dings, she wonders where this woman falls. Is she aware? Is she a part of that danger? Sybella doesn't know, and she's not sure how to find out any other way than by trial and error. She saves the contact, and gives Zoë a smile. "I'll let you know when I've got a free night. I'm sure I've got one coming up soon, and I'd love to check out some of the local spots."

(A beautiful woman just dropped you her phone number after calling you cute. This is absolutely dipping into date territory.)

"That's true, and I'm all for doing art for the enjoyment, not the end result. I just maybe haven't found the freedom in the visual arts to get me hooked, yet. I'm not too hung up on it, I'm fine with leaving that to the people who get more out of it. I'll just enjoy what they make."

“I had some great professors in both undergrad and grad school! I find the best of them are optimistic but realistic about the industry. It’s hard, and it doesn’t do us any favors to pretend it isn’t! It’s part of what spun me into the management side of things — I had some directors and acting professors who were extremely honest about how hard it is to maintain a living performing, and… I’ve dealt with enough insecurity to know I’d rather make a steady paycheck than pursue a dream like that. It was very beneficial, and I’m very happy with the choices I’ve made thanks to their input.”
