It's been a long time since I made a cartoon for self-care Sunday! (I'm on a short break in between working on comic books, so I have a little more time to draw just for fun.) This idea originally came to me from A. J. Jacobs in his book "The Puzzler." Sometimes, my brain can feel so noisy at night when I try to sleep, ruminating on the past today or what's coming up tomorrow. I find this exercise so calming for my busy brain and sometimes fall asleep after just a few letters. (If you make it all the way through the alphabet, you could always start backwards and go again!) What I will be changing this week :) reset!

Been recovering from my seasonal depression which yes I do need to figure out eventually but fuck off. So I’m changing my routine next week, march is a really hard month every year but I’ll try focusing on myself to get through it.

Step one, health.

Health is the first thing I’ll prioritise and try this 3-5 times a week. Always been my go to workout when I haven’t been working out at all for a longgg time. Do what you’re comfortable with lol.

First thing I’m gonna do when I get a new job is get some good groceries with no bs

So yes I’ll be cooking a lot and sharing that food with loved ones. Lots of fruit though I’m gonna be fruit crazy.

I can start by making my boyfriend and my brother + his partner’s family.

Step two, study!! Career!! Car license !!!!!!

Okay seriously the car comes first but I gotta finish all my assignments rn.

Plan is car lessons 3x a week and also get my brother to teach me sometimes too.

Write all assignments due times. And just smash through them, every assignment gets given back with feedback!!!

Apply to every work opportunity, clean up that resume and all of that.

And clear my emails…

Need to create that urgent todo list today.

Step three, hobbies.

Painting painting and painting again. Find indie art shows. I realised I have so much skill that it wouldn’t be too much time to try :)

Pretty much that’s it, I wanna keep it simple for my brain.

Some things I’m cutting back is:

• smoking (yeah yeah yeah shut up yeah I know we all know)

• drinking but like I’m sick of drinking anyways

• putting myself second. It’s my year!

Email Etiquette

Having good netiqutte is a great way to stand out especially if you are in college, so here are some tips and advice.

First things first create an email signature a lot of college students don’t bother with email signatures so you’ll have a chance to stand out.

Your email signature should have your name, school, major and year. I provided some examples just in case.

Other email signature add ons

Hyperlink your name to your linked in account 

Add your time zone, I started doing this recently. With a lot of people being remote there is a chance you aren’t in the same time zone adding your time zone to avoid any confusion with scheduling etc

You should have a “conclusion” it’s how you end the email ex. Thanks, kind regards , yours sincerely etc.

Displaying pronouns I added mine because I go to a fairly liberal school still elitist nonetheless (optional)

Having a professional email icon / profile picture it’s a great way to put a face to the name especially with COVID’s resurgence (optional)

Add a quote at the end of your signature this is ( completely optional )

Other Netiqutte

Your subject line should include the reason for the email, your course name and section number

Always state what file(s) you are attaching to the email

Only email with in work hours as a courtesy unless it’s an emergency or you’ve been given alternative hours

To avoid sending unfinished emails set your undo button to 30 seconds it’ll give you more time to retrieve the email before it’s sent

Get to the point of the email within the first one to three sentences 

Don’t cc unnecessary people

Type in the recipient email last so you don’t send any email before it’s ready

Try to avoid sending long emails/ paragraphs (be reasonable)

For the working girlies your job probably already has an expected email signature so that might be automatic but for if not, the last example provided is a solid work email signature.

Some people might already know this but a lot of people don’t so this is for y’all.
