The racism surrounding Storm's new summer skin was so damn dire that even the devs realized they stepped a bit too far and are walking back a lot of there things. And like, no all of the disrespect and shit they were pulling was 100% intentional and in no way an 'accident'. How do you accidentally make a costume epic when every other related costume is legendary, or forget to add animations to an emote that doesn't really fit a character when you're known for good animations, or even give a character an MVP animation with bad camera angles and an energy that doesn't even fit the theme of the costume. There's no two ways about it, this is JUST racism.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day: It was a very good day (FULL MOVIE SPOILERS!!!)
Can you believe it's been FIVE years since we last saw Spider-Man? Well, yes, there was Across the Spider-Verse, but in terms of seeing our current, MCU tied, Tom Holland portrayed version of the webhead, it's been half a decade! Genuinely kinda crazy...but as consistent as the sun rises in the morning and the tides go in and out, by golly we will get another Spidah-Man movie on the big screen. And this one is being hailed as one of the bests, not just of the MCU outings, but of EVERY Spidey film so far, even the universally beloved Spider-Man 2. Where do I stand? Well...somewhere in the middle.
Let me state outright: this is a GOOD movie. Like, really damn good. If you remember that tierlist I made earlier today, I'd argue that, least for now, this is top tier MCU. Absolutely on par with Homecoming (helps that the film outright re-captures a scene from the Homecoming era of Spidey!). There's definitely something about it that just...oozes that Spidey goodness. The fights, the character work, the fact that—as someone pointed out on Twitter—Peter spends MOST of the movie suited up, which is very nice to see.
Naturally, the film picks up on the fallout of where No Way Home left our hero (while giving us a very nice Spider-Man themed version of the Marvel Studios logo), but is also able to squeeze in a time skip, which all works out somehow! The contrast of Peter fighting off against iconic foes like the Scorpion, Tombstone, and the Hand whilst watching Ned and MJ attend college is equal parts engaging and tragic. I was able to catch the ending of No Way Home again at my work, and while I had previously thought the ending was a little but too rough, even for Spider-Man, with BND here, I think I've warmed up to it more, at least retroactively. Even if it's not quite the same, Peter still has Ned and MJ back in his lives...and judging from how Ned seems to remember to handshake, maybe not everything was forgotten... (I do also really like that Peter's friendship with Ned is valued just as much as his romance with MJ)
Of course, this being an MCU film, we have to have other characters showing up. But the thing is...Brand New Day makes it work??? The main crossover star is the return of the Punisher, as played by Jon Bernthal, and he's really solid. Gruff and dark as the Punisher should be, but oddly approachable at points and fittingly mature compared to the younger Peter. Bruce shows up, as does the Hulk, and they're used rather well. Bruce himself really gets the one small scene that helps Peter make the inhibitors, and then again during the fight at Damage Control, but he does make good when he shows up. Yelena also shows up in two scenes, and...yeh, I kinda like her now. Never hated her, just was never huge on her, but making her a bit sillier compared to Natasha has warmed up to me. Helped that the bath scene was overall really good (the whole bit of Peter sticking his feet up was masterfully done).
Let's not dance around the one BIG new face here though: Jean Gray, our first big mutant appearance in the MCU...and she's the villain? Not quite, though. I'd argue BND doesn't have a villain in the traditional sense—not that there's a shortage of fights, far from it—but Jean is the closest we have to a direct antagonist, and her grief following the disappearance and eventual death of her sister is what motivates the plot. For as apprehensive as I have been on the X-Men in the MCU, as it's mostly been either playing the original show theme song or recasting an actor from the Fox films, I actually quite enjoyed Jean in this film! She was a fun, engaging character with reasonable motives and a sympathetic backstory, and it was nice to see her finally get away from all the trouble in New York. Honestly might be a new standard for antagonists in MCU films going forward.
All the performances were very solid. Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon continue to have insane chemistry, especially Holland and Zendaya themselves. Like yeh they're married in real life, but even then it's crazy how well they play off each other in this movie, especially considering MJ doesn't know Peter anymore. You can tell Bernthal has a really good grasp on Frank as a character, having played him for so long. Mark Ruffalo continues to give an understated yet no less impressive performance as Bruce Banner. As a newcomer, Sadie Sink is very good as Jean, her performance being a highlight. While Scorpion has a fairly minor role in the film, Micheal Mando is very clearly having a good time in the role. Also, apparently Keith David made a vocal cameo? Sick.
And that after credits scene...the spider-tracker finding something in space? Probably something Venom related, like for sure right? The original plan for Spider 4 was gonna involve the symbiote (as seen when SSU!Eddie leaves an inkling of Venom at the bar in No Way Home) so maybe they still have plans to do...who knows. But for once, an MCU after credits scene has me excited! Wow!
I would definitely say this is probably among the best the MCU has to offer, Spider-Man or otherwise, but best Spidey overall? Debatable...for one, I need to see the rest of the Raimi trilogy beyond the first film, plus there's Spider-Verse to consider. Even then though, I would say it is among the ranks of the better Spider-Man movies. On par if not exceeding Homecoming for me. A very fun time, and I look forward to whatever MCU Spidey has in store.
I give it a strong recommendation (even if you have missed recent MCU films) and a good 9/10.
In anticipation of seeing that new Schpida-Man movie today, here's a list going over where I think these films stand in terms of being actual movies (or shows ya know). Yes, I still haven't seen Infinity War, I barely liked Endgame, do you think I caaaaare.

Reusing the name Sweetie Sue for this s/i because I feel it fits her better. She’s a painter who sometimes doubts herself and teaches art classes to the little monsters and kids while also trying to remind herself to not be too sweet with a certain grouch in respect, but has a hard doing so because she finds him intriguing and cute.
All said, I do like that Noir Ribbit goes for a trench coat instead of something more feminine. I dunno if Ribbit being a demigirl is explicitly canon or not (her VA is, at least), but either way it does play into that notion nicely.
Does also make me think about my sona making her all kinds of different clothes of varying styles and appearances...help her present any which way she wants ehehehe
My Adventures with Superman S3E9 Thoughts (Spoilers!)
In case your curious like I was, vae victis is Latin for "woe to the conquered", that is those defeated are at utter mercy of their conquerers. Get it?
This honestly might be the best episode of the season so far, with both the A plot and B plot being really solid when compared to previous episodes. On one side, we have Jonathan being the angstiest boy alive as Lois n Pals try to prepare for Eradicator's return, and it's pretty good. Kara is able to talk some since into the boy, and Lois has a sweet moment with Lara. Jimmy also gets a good moment with Lex, who I know is 100% scheming some way to come back out on top with this whole Eradicator situation. Also nice to FINALLY see some faces from the first two seasons show back up again; we got Heatwave, Livewire, and Steel back, plus some of those other Task Force X goons. Very cool for Dr. Irons to make the gang weapons, but I wish he had his battle suit again (least with a better design). It also feels like they altered the Metallo design to be even MORE of an explicit EVA reference. Not a bad thing, just noticable.
Our other plot has Clark returning to the Fortress to encounter none other than Brainiac—or at least, a different version of Brainiac. He said he was an original model, distinct from the version currently imprisoned, but he does later gain the red coloration, so it could be that this version was corrupted in some way. Regardless, very fascinating stuff they did with his character, especially with tying in that Brainiac was once organic himself. Everything with Clark in Ancient Krypton, helping that one colunan (Brainiac's species in the comics) to the point he killed him a friend, only to reveal that that WAS Brainiac back in the day...it's simply excellent. The show is actually able to create some sympathy for him as Clark shatters his worldview by continuing to be kind, but it still doesn't excuse him or have him stop his rampage. Genuinely a very fascinating approach to the character, and overall solid writing.
I suppose I shouldn't have been too surprised Kara didn't actually die. Was probably putting the cart before the horse there when I said so in last week's review, but it's nice to see her recovering, both physically and with her relationship with Jimmy. If anything, I see the Kara-Jimmy subplot being properly handled in a proverbial season four; they're already got a LOT to handle for wrapping up this season, and those two still have a long way to go before jumping into anything committed. Let's not forget it took most of season one to establish Lois and Clark as a pair, so they probably wanna spend just as much time on Jimmy and Kara (hopefully).
Also, I'm kinda jamming with Eradicator now. Able to survive being bisected down the middle all while being able to conjure his original jacked form against the Krptonians...phew, judging from the preview for the finale, it's gonna be a hell of a fight! And I will be able to react to it LIVE the night of, so be here this Saturday for that finale!!
I could since I'm off work, but since I have to get up early tomorrow, MAWS episode 9 will be seen tomorrow as was episodes 7 and 8. The season finale, tho, I should be able to see live :]
