One of the stupidest thing DC did was ignoring Damian's magical heritage when he can have such interesting arcs for his abilities.

Here are some examples:

1. Damian casting a spell with Klarion's wand that shackles Gotham Girl:

2. Damian directly mentioning his magical abilities by telling Superman that he'd take him on with magic instead of krypronite

3. Damian being able to see dead people because he has died 5 times in canon:

4. Damian being possessed by the Devil Nezha at some point, and Nezha using Damian's body as a vessel to use magic:

5. In the Absolute Power universe, he can also use magic and open up portals:

Like what more do the DC writers need, everything they can use is already there?

I lowkey hate when people talk about Damian's progress but credit everyone but him.

Oh Damian doesn't kill anymore? That is wholly attributed to Bruce's rules and in no way shape or form has Damian reflected upon his killings and what they mean for the victims and himself.

Oh Damian has made friends? That is wholly attributed to Dick who made him feel comfortable enough to talk to people and in no way shape or form did Damian put in effort himself.

Of course, these people do have credit for Damian's progress. I just hate how people don't acknowledge the effort that Damian put in. They purely consider the shift in his environment and not his willingness to also learn, to be redeemed.

And I think the most annoying part of this is when people say "oh well Damian would kill if Bruce wasn't around". Like EUGHOJSDAI, I'm a firm believer that Damian wholeheartedly believes in redemption. In Robin: Son of Batman, he offers Talia a second chance because he got a second chance. In the same comic, he told Maya that she has a different path, she doesn't have to be an assassin.

He wants to pursue a career in medicine because he wants to help people get better. He sacrifices himself countless times to protect people.

But no let's ignore his caring nature because he's in fact a gremlin </3

The moral of the story is, I hate when people mention Damian's progress but don't acknowledge the work Damian put in.

I feel like one aspect a lot of people often overlook is that Damian will pretty much say anything in an argument to get under the other person's skin even if he doesn't truly feel/think that way about someone or something.

When he was with Dick!bats he was constantly insulting him and praising Bruce as Batman, then when Damian was with Bruce as Batman for the first few missions Damian was talking positively of Dick as Batman and how Bruce didn't need to come back from the time stream because they had everything under control. And he pretty much gets that from Bruce who also often says the most hurtful things he can think of in an argument, which in one instance resulted in Damian and Bruce both claiming they would never agree to work as Batman and Robin again after their first mission together didn't go well at the same time, kind of cancelling their attempt to hurt the other out.

Which is one reason why I don't agree with the take that Damian is truly yearning for a normal life that a lot of people seem to have taken from the first part of PKJ's Batman and Robin run.

Important context for the scene where Damian announces that he would quit as Robin to become a doctor was that Damian was already in a crisis of faith due to failing to save the little girl at the start of the arc, but such moments are pretty normal for the genre and don't mean that the character really wants to quit. Normally they will overcome their crisis by the end of the arc and decide that being a hero is still the right decision (which is what ends up happening in this arc too).

Another part of context was that Damian had overheard Bruce and Jason talking about him without them knowing:

Which Damian doesn't react well to and of course he stops listening right when Bruce reaches the part his whole speech was building up to where he talks about his fear of losing Damian if he stops being Robin because...drama.

Anyway, Damian is hurt that Bruce seems to think he's incapable of leading a normal life and doesn't believe in Bashar simply seeing potential in him (he doesn't know that Bruce was simply jealous that Damian was seemingly picking another mentor/father-figure to spend time with and confide in over him to a degree that his paranoid brain convinced Bruce Bashar must have been sent by Ra's...who is dead lol. Comics are soap operas) so to hit back at Bruce he threatens to do exactly what Bruce thinks he can't do:

Which of course triggers all of Bruce's fears about losing Damian and Bashar being a ploy of the league of assassins to get Damian back under their influence.

After they resolve their miscommunication, make up and Damian decides to stay on as Robin we even see Bruce taking Damian's "wish for a more normal life" more seriously than Damian does with Bruce being the one who suggests they go watch a movie together in a public cinema:

And Damian is the one who has doubts if that is the right thing to do:

Even if one day Damian truly would decide to quit to become a doctor I don't think he would stay away from hero life for good. I think he would notice pretty quickly that civilians will never really understand him and quite honestly...I think he would grow bored.

Damian likes fighting, he likes learning all kinds of skills, he likes winning, he's way too ambituous to live a quiet life. Not that I think his relatives wouldn't pull him back into their bullshit anyway.

Damian's hair is based off of his future self in Knightfight! Because unfortunately I can't draw his spiky hair for the life of me...I hope it still looks like him though. Also I gave up with the colouring, the change from my usual semi-realistic art style was too much </3

Incident Type: Unknown Vigilante makes appearances starting as of 1 week before the creation of this case file. Presumably has been around longer, can be assumed from their experience in combat. Started gaining notice after saving 3 women from a large man. Witness testimonies can’t seem to decide what this "man" looked like.

Weaknesses: unknown

Team testimonies:

New Ages of The Bat Fam (So Far)

Based on the New History of The DC Universe reading list with annotations

Birth of The Demon - 7th to 10th century

Talia said Ra's original life took place near the crusades

The crusades happened in the 11th to 13th century

Ra's took his title from a local dialect while his kingdom was in north africa

The arab conquest of north africa happened in the 7th century

Making him and his mother Ruh between 1000 to 1300 years old

Batman Year One - January - Bruce age 25

I looked up his birthday and found multiple versions so I'm just not gonna bother and call him 25 the whole year

Selina was mentioned to be late teens in Catwoman Year One but no mention of it in Batman Year One or Golden Age early appearances listed

Batman Zero Year - Bruce 26

Bruce was mentioned to be 25 in Zero Year because it was supposed to be his new origin but now it acts as Year Two in the New History timeline

Batman Year Three - Bruce 27 Dick 11 Tim 3

I haven't read this I only know Secret Origins 13 placed him at 10 years old when Dick's parents died but that's not listed

However counting back from A Lonely Place of Dying and The Flash by Mark Waid and the changing name from New Teen Titans to New Titans plus giving some space for the following year placed his parental loss at 11

Tim being 3 years old at The Flying Grayson's death was mentioned in A Lonely Place of Dying which is listed

JLA Year One - Bruce 28+ Dick 12+Tim 4+

This is the era of Kathy Kane Batwoman Betty Kane Batgirl rise of the villains formation of Justice League The Club of Heroes World's Finest and with JLA Year One at least one year have passed

Teen Titans The Silver Age - Dick Grayson 13+

The naming convention at DC is tight enough that they changed New Teen Titans to New Titans after its members turned 20 so that logic is why Dick needs to be at least 13

Batgirl 0 - Barbara Gordon age 16

Her original origin and Year One were listed but only 0 clearly placed her in high school 5 years before New 52 started when she was 21 so that's the earliest age I can place her

Counting backwards from when he's in college Dick is approximately 7 at this point which makes Batgirl 0 event if canon has to take place before Bruce become Batman which is impossible so Dick or Babs ages have to he adjusted

The timeline in New History is chronological meaning her debut taking place after Teen Titans making Dick has to be at least 13 when Babs is 16

Bruce 30+ Babs 17+ Dick 14+ Tim 6+

I'm adding a one year baseline for the year spent on Batgirl Year One

JLA Satellite era

By the process of narrowing down with before and after events those are the approximate ages

Batman 217 - Dick Grayson goes to college

Bruce 34 Babs 21+ Dick 18 Tim 10

Presumably placing his age at 18 but I haven't read that era in full so I can't confirm

Around this era Bruce first met Talia as a med student and memory placed her age as 19 but I haven't read them

Bat Family comics in this era had Babs at 25 but the Bat Family books are not listed in New History

At the Top of The World - Jason 13

Bruce 35+ Babs 22+ Dick 19+ Tim 11+

If I remember correctly during the search for Lian Harper which is listed Jason was recruited to Titans by Donna when he was 13

The Flash by Mark Waid - Wally turned 20

Bruce 36+ Babs 23+ Dick 20+ Jason 14 Tim 12

Before this point Dick Grayson has turned 20 as well as the title of New Teen Titans changed to New Titans possibly 21 when Wally turned 20

A Lonely Place of Dying - Tim 13

Tim mentioned his age when he visited the Manor

Dick is squarely 21 accounting for the time between Batman Year Three, JLA Year One and Teen Titans Silver Age

By working backwards from the next year those are the ages

Batman and Son - Damian 10

Reborn - Steph 18

Steph went to college in Batgirl 2009 and she was mentioned in her first appearance to be older than Tim

Both stories are listed

Following the other college age she's at most 18 Tim at most 17 and Dick at most 25

Damian had his birthday in Teen Titans which is listed

Babs remain an approximation based on which age is used when she started and when she started
