People are so paranoid about statistically unlikely events that they stop themselves from living their lives and I personally blame true crime podcasts

The reason that I can’t do solo travel is that I live in a barren wasteland of a suburb and don’t own a car.

If the only thing stopping you from doing solo travel is that you think you’re gonna get kidnapped if you leave the house by yourself I think you need to be statistically more concerned with car accidents and alcohol poisoning.

You are always more likely to be murdered or raped or human trafficked by someone you know than some random passerby. Most violent crime happens at like 3 in the afternoon when teenagers get off school.

I’m not saying that there’s zero danger out in the world but there’s also potential dangers in your house. Mold and carbon monoxide and potentially your own spouse I dunno. At a certain point an overabundance of caution just stops you from having the life you want and turns into paranoia.

My dad restores abandoned furniture he finds as a hobby and he gave me a restored chair that I planned to use as a cat bed spot because Crusty likes sitting on painted wooden surfaces but in the grand tradition of cats

It doesn't bother me when none of the houses in a fantasy or sci fi video game town have toilets. I understand that the floor plans we're seeing are simplified for gameplay purposes; the houses don't "really" have no toilets in the same way that the town's total population isn't "really" twelve people and a dog.

It does, however, bother me immensely when exactly one house in the town has a toilet. What the fuck.
